What I always liked about the Village is they provide a calm and mellow environment that is not too cramped. The staff shortage had been an ongoing issue ( especially in the kitchen). Also, their hair salon ,in a years time, has not opened yet. On the positive side, they do take my mom back and forth to her appointments and have a care taker accompany her. And, if you have any concerns, the staff will listen and work with you to solve any problems you need sorted out.... Read more

Response from The Village Senior Living
May 3, 2024Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback.
From administration to care givers, they have exceeded expectations from day one. We have not been disappointed in any aspect of getting Mom moved in and settled. She is delighted with her new home and is doing very well. I no longer worry about her as I did in her previous “re-hab” situation. First time I have not had to worry about her health and wellbeing. Many thanks.

Response from The Village Senior Living
May 7, 2024Hi, Judith. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did. We're thrilled that we were able to go above and beyond your expectations! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you; we are more than happy to help!
My mother is has been a resident of the Village for 4 years now. When we first got here the was plenty of things that made us unhappy. I could list them, but the NEW Village is night and day better. Since the new director, [name removed], took over the service and care has gotten better every month. Also, the whole building was remodeled, and it is absolutely beautiful. It's like walking into a brand-new building. It has a theater, many activities and the new chef has completely changed the food that comes out of the kitchen. My mom looks forward to every meal now instead of dreading it like she used to. Since the management change and the remodel I stress much less about my mother. We are very blessed to have the peace of mind when it come to my mothers care.

Response from The Village Senior Living
September 28, 2023Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you have seen an improvement at The Village. We look forward to continuing to serve your mother.
The staff there has been great and when I do have a problem, they investigate it. They are frequently understaffed most of the time forcing the staff to work long hours. My loved one says the breakfasts are wonderful, lunches are ok, but the dinners are terrible so they have to order sandwiches. Overall, my loved one is happy there. They have been great getting my loved one back and forth to their appointments.

Response from The Village Senior Living
March 10, 2023Thank you for your thoughtful review. We're glad to hear your loved one is happy at The Village. Thank you for your feedback on our opportunities to improve. We will look into this.
It is definitely a great facility. The workers that are there want to be there. I spoke with several different staff members on different occasions and they choose to be there over other jobs. The management team is apparently really good from what they have told me.
My good friend has been living here for just over a year. He hated the thought of moving into a senior community but he has gown to enjoy it. The care staff are a blessing. He is undergoing treatment for cancer currently and they make him very comfortable as well as keep him involved in their activities. The gentlemen who leads the activities and he is so caring and thoughtful. They are currently remodeling entire building, it is going to look very nice when it is done. I've had several meals at the village and the food is like restaurant food. Moving to the village was a large upgrade for my friend and it improved his quality of life. He was home alone for several years after loosing his wife. Lovely place.

We showed up for our tour and they did not know that we were coming. There were residents outside smoking so we decided to talk with them and ask them how they like living there and they immediately said not to move my mom there. They told us there were not nearly enough staff. The whole facility was under renovation when we went- so when they walked us through everything was torn apart.
The food here was dismal for my loved one and when I tasted it the same thing. Some of the staff was not as pleasant to work with as others as well as their attitudes weren't as pleasant as I would've hoped for. My loved one contracted COVID during their stay here.

I appreciated the sign in process, and that we had to sign in and out and have our temperature taken and recorded. A definite positive these daes. The gentleman who showed us around was kind and answered all our questions. However, the facility looked dark and dreary to me. We were told they were going thru a complete renovation, so hopefully that will spruce things up a bit. I didn't see any residents out and about. The 3 staff members we met along the wae were not particularly friendly. I don't think it's a place mom would do well.

I am so happy to live at The Village. It is 100% better than the last senior community I lived at. I appreciate the warm, fresh, tasty, homecooked meals that are made daily. They keep up our building and there is always hot water when I shower. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Thank you to everyone that helps keep our place running.

The Village has all levels of care. Ranging from light Retirement Living, assistance in your own apartment to Memory Care. The community has plenty of open space and easy to navigate hallways and floors. There staff there around the clock. Friendly and knowledgeable caregivers and nurses that are social and greet everyone with smiles. The food is freshly prepared each day. You can smell the delicious cooking through out the building. Plenty of fun to be had. If you’re not wanting to leave your apartment the Life Enrichment ladies will come to you! I recommend this community to those who have worked hard and would like quality care. They have many budget options and aim to help the community!

I was not impressed with this facility. It was way too dirty for it to be this expensive. The percentage of staff members to residents is way too awful and low. I did a tour on the weekend and they only had two staff members for a very large amount of residents. It was dark and dirty here. When I used the community restroom, it was filthy. It just looks run down to me. I was just shocked when I walked in. I couldn't imagine putting someone here let alone anyone wanting to be here. I would not recommend this facility.

The Village is clean and the staff are friendly. My mother had a couple of problems and the staff was quick to address them in quickly and efficiently. They are in the mid range 2,000 to 3,000 depending on level of care but are well worth it if you have the money and want a nice place for your family.

They have been making a lot of mistakes and there seems to be a lot of issues going on. I just don't feel that my loved one is safe. They have had equipment failures and seems like the biggest problem is a lack of communication between the staff. The food here is not great and our loved one does not like it here.

Visited 5/28/2010. Dogs allowed. Internet may be free as in Tacoma, but on edge. No air conditioning in the room, only in the hallway on the top floor. Residents seem to be comfortable, enjoy the staff and living there. Staff were very casually dressed which seemed to fit. No kitchens, but they provide a small refrigerator and microwave. Amenities only seemed to exclude telephone. Building needs significant upgrading inside and out. I was surprised to see that director supplied a two page list of additional places in Tacoma to visit.

A Place for Mom has scored The Village Senior Living 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
