In our search for senior living in Westerville. we were very pleased finding the village of Westerville. From the various senior activities a daily 3 meal offering, large apartment style living space and the friendly staff and residents it felt like home. Making the transition very easy.

Planning for the futures tour

My tour advisor was a knowledgeable joy, I really appreciated the time she spent gathering my needs and reasons for my planned more from aa house too large. During the tour we reviewed several of the room/ apartments. The spare rooms were very well planned and much larger than anticipated. I spent enough time in each allowing me to envision me and my stuff inside. I came anyway thinking of the possibilities other than just crossing of my list.

Sets the bar really high for my expectations of future

I am very impressed with the floor plan of the large single bedroom apartment and the 2 bedroom. The cafeteria offerings feels like a classy hotel. The large open space in the main lobby is WELCOMING.

Wonderful Care and Understanding

Navigating the decline of a loved one is a difficult and confusing time for everyone involved. The village person all are understanding, sympathetic, supportive and more caring than I would have thought possible. I feel they always have her best interests at heart. They constantly keep an eye on her. They always know where she is. As we transition into more care! I know they keep me informed I could not have picked a better place to keep her safe.

Genuine staff

The staff at The Village are kind, caring and loving. They could improve on the activities by adding more of a variety - especially for the more cognitively impaired residents. I would recommend this facility to others.

In many ways a great place to live

We moved my mom into The Village on [date removed]. She felt at home at once. The staff is friendly and helpful. The residents represent all types of people. The food is plentiful and quite good. And the activities, when she first moved in were varied and fun with multiple options every day of the week. Then, about six weeks after moving in, they got a new Executive Director. While he might be highly qualified for his position, his people skills are non-existent. He started his first meeting and greet with the residents telling them that his career has always been in assisted living and all the other residents (two-thirds of the people living there) were "on their own." He started coming down on staff so hard that very quickly a change in their attitude was obvious, especially when his constant threat to then is "do what I say or be fired." And when residents have complaints his response is "you don't like it, then move!" Were he to leave, the happy environment would return.

The Village? Hidden Gem

The Village? I had never heard of it, but I'm beyond grateful that "A Pace for Mom" referred me ro visit it. It's tucked away in Westerville, Ohio and the first thing I noticed was the landscaping; big trees everywhere, flowers, a front entrance that has chairs and gliders to sit and enjoy the trees and flowers. In the back of the senior village are raised beds for us to plant whatever we so desire. Plots are divided and whomever signed up gets one for the season. It is absolutely breathtaking to go and see all the flowers and vegetables we are growing. The lobby, I call it the family room, has a huge brick, wood burning fireplace, bookshelves, and multiple couches and chairs, ; which is where I'll be when cold weather arrives. Across a hallway is the activity area where there is always something going on. Parties, live music, games, exercise, a television, a grand piano, and more bookshelves. The staff and residents here are so caring, you feel like you're part of a family.

I like living and helping at The Village

I live at the village. I like helping with activities some of my favorite activities are arts and crafts, bingo and going out for lunch. The staff make me feel needed and special. And they help me with different things throughout the day. My favorite moment at the village so far has been helping to decorate the Christmas tree and singing songs with the carolers. They have good fruit and vegetables and give us good healthy food.

Placed dad in independent living at the Village. He wasn't to sure about this move. Has been there about 2 1/2 months. He is starting to enjoy his place. Likes he can walk hall ways for exercising and doesn't need to worry about weather. Likes having his meals cooked. Seems to enjoy his meals. Stated sometimes it's a bit cold. Going to start some therapy soon. He does enjoy exercise class. Overall he seems to enjoy it more each day.

We had an excellent tour of the facilities. Staff friendly and saw activities going on. I liked the very visible list of activities for the month and that day. We also met the administrator of the facility. We were impressed with the maintenance staff area that we passed by on our tour. The independent living apartments are old and are much in need of a face lift. We did see that a couple apartments were being renovated and were told more were going to be redone. This would be a top contender as a selection for my parents

Overall the property was very nice it appeared clean and maintained well inside and out. The staff was helpful and kind. They were a little more expensive than some of the other communities I had visited. However, they did do a follow-up call a few days after to inform me that there was currently a waitlist.
