Care and communication trumps all

They have about an 8/1 ratio of residents to staff. Many of the caregivers are very attentive and care for their residents but they cannot keep eyes on every resident at every moment. They are required to check on them every 2 hours but it is much more frequent than that during the day. The staff and directors are very knowledgeable and provide comfort (hugs, pats, and good listening). The directors are available on weekends and return my texts/calls promptly even when they are out of the building. They are understanding, show compassion to family members, and work with us as a caring team to find solutions to challenges. The facility has recently remodeled one whole wing and replaced carpet with nice looking wood floors. This helps keep the halls cleaner. The common rooms feel like a home with living rooms, cozy dining area and lots of natural light. The light is soft and ambient, not sterile. The man that helps with maintenance is kind to help with many jobs such as hanging TVs and picture frames, and moving furniture. There are thumb locks on the resident doors if a resident wants to shut the door and lock it (because it's difficult to keep other residents from coming into others' rooms and touching/taking things) but the caregivers prefer the doors open and residents to not be in their rooms all day but to participate in activities. The caregivers have ability to unlock doors. There is a very nice walking path outside but a family member must accompany the resident. Each resident's room has its own heat and ac. Another one of the best things about this facility is that they have nurses there on staff. So it is easy to be seen without having to leave.... Read more

About the facility The Pinnacle of Louisville

From the enclosed courtyard to the spacious private and semi-private apartment homes, everything about The Pinnacle of Louisville was created with residents in mind. This intimate, homelike community was recently renovated to accommodate seniors with memory loss. Here, residents enjoy dementia-friendly amenities, stimulating activities, and chef-prepared meals each day.

All memory care services are tailored to each resident’s needs and abilities. Licensed, 24-hour nurses and certified staff take the time to get to know the residents and create a custom-tailored care plan. They also use the exclusive Flourish℠ memory care program to promote residents’ self-esteem through five key points:

  • Velocity program — Daily activities and events keep residents stimulated and engaged.
  • Oshibori experience — A daily routine that provides aromatherapy and serves as a reminder for mealtimes.
  • Grab-and-Go neighborhood activities — Spontaneous, small-group activities catered to residents’ individual needs.
  • S.T.A.R. — Specific Therapeutic Assisted Recreation, a family oriented program that encourages families to bring in personal items to share and reminisce with their loved ones.
  • Rest and Restoration program — An intervention program that provides audio and video engagement, as well as comfort, stimulation, and redirection.

Good Care

Well, my loved one was not there at the Arden Courts of Louisville for very long, only for about six days or so when she passed away. She did get really good care while she was there at the facility though.

Friendly and Nice

They do seem to be nice and very friendly. My mother can communicate, carry on a conversation and all that, but she is at a dining table with three people who can't and there are people who can communicate and I think it would be better if she were with them.

The Pinnacle of Louisville offers Studio. Learn more.

A Place for Mom has scored The Pinnacle of Louisville 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
