Facility was not able to provide for my family member. Was lied to upon initial assessment and tour. They make you believe they will be able to provide what your family member needs and that is not the case. They want your money so they will make it sound good. Family member was hardly checked on, if family was not there with him nothing got done. Would forget to assist him with his medicine. Left doors unlocked that they could roam into, fell multiple times and left on floor for who knows how long. Family would have to come in and clean room. Staff would forget to bring him/ or assist with his food. Overall would never recommend this facility.

August 21, 2024Hi Vicky, it makes us happy to hear this! We greatly appreciate the five-star review.
I would recommend to others. All places have issues but the memory care is pretty good fit for my mom.

August 21, 2024Hello, we are happy to hear this, and we greatly appreciate your feedback! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
I would definitely refer somebody who wants their loved one to be comfortable, do activities daily and interact with others to go to Vitality of Stonybrook. My mother loved it there and they loved her she had plenty of things to do fun activities clean and courteous staff.

July 5, 2024Hi Gerald, it makes us happy to hear of great experiences like this! We greatly appreciate the five-star review.
It's a nice cozy facility, clean and bright; but their food budgets are in need of review as they run out of resident favorites often. The dining experience is less than perfect due to space and ordering/ serving processes. I'd still recommend at this time but my loved ones have only been there 6 months so we are hoping Vitality can/will address a permanent solution to the nutrition portion of their care.

July 5, 2024Hi, we greatly appreciate your feedback and for taking the time to leave us a review. Thank you!
Staff is a rotating door. Every week is someone new there. The dining room is FILTHY! Should be the cleanest place in there other than the bathrooms.I believe they try, but they can do a whole lot better. The admin staff should not allow the floors to get so nasty. Just filthy. Now I know why their prices are the lowest in town. If I could afford to move my mom I would.

July 5, 2024Hello, thank you for the feedback! We would appreciate it if you could email us more details at info@myvitalityliving.com so we can address any concerns you may have.
Pretty good. Especially if still pretty independent. Mom's memory issues made it difficult for her to find her room. Often staff were not available to help her. Lots of activities and outings that my Mom was not independent enough to enjoy.

October 16, 2023Hello, we greatly appreciate your feedback and for taking the time to leave us a review. Thank you!
The time she spent there she never had a shower. I had to pay out of my pocket, even though she had long-term insurance, reason being they wouldn't send her diagnosis to the ins company, they diagnosed her having dementia. Her staff was nice, she didn't complain, and the facility was clean.

Response from Vitality Living Stony Brook
September 27, 2023Hello, Vitality Living strives to provide exceptional care to all our residents, families, and team members. We do not take your review lightly, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We also encourage you to reach out to us to ensure that we address any areas of concern at info@myvitalityliving.com. Thank you.
The tour experience at Vitality Living Stony Brook was good, but it was just not the right fit for my mom. It was a very nice facility, however it did not feel cozy. They offer assisted living and memory care, but I did not feel that the memory care patients were as important as the assisted living patients.

July 14, 2023Hello, we greatly appreciate your feedback and for taking the time to leave us a review. Thank you!
Free movers was a big plus. [Name removed] helped us with some discounts. Mom kept seeing some small insects on the first floor but after a move to the 3rd floor we no longer see any insects. It would be nice if they offered some type of worship service other than catholic. Mom is a Baptist. I feel overall it has been good for Mom to live at Vitality. She's doing much better now than when she lived alone.

Our family had an in person tour and even though the staff were very informative and courteous it was just not going to fit our loved ones needs.
Our tour experience with Vitality Living of Stony Brook was excellent, but the location was too far and we were not willing to drive that with how often we wanted to be able to visit our loved one.

So far so good. It was a little cheaper than other places we looked at, and the staff are really good. The care is pretty good as well.

They have a new memory care director at this community and they are working very hard to make it good for people with dementia and Alzheimer's. They are working hard to create a great atmosphere. They have an activity director that tries to gear the activities to what is happening in the world. They had a super bowl party and other themed parties to match what is going on. They also have puzzles and more and things that the residents like to do.

My loved one did not participate in the activities often but they did have a lot to do. I really do like this community but they are selling and transferring to another company currently and a lot of people are just unsure of whats to come.

A Place for Mom has scored Vitality Living Stony Brook 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
