The staff was amazing, they really did seem to care about my dad and loved that he was very friendly and always happy. The quality of the care suffered in that I think they were short handed. He developed a bed sore and then was not ambulatory at all after that and that's when things went downhill quickly. He seemed to enjoy the meals and eating in the dining room with the "cool kids". They put him at a table with like minded people and he enjoyed that. The activities department did a wonderful job. He enjoyed the arts and crafts, music activities and bingo. He even got to pet a llama and go on an outing to get a frosty at Wendy's.... Read more

My mom has been at Barrington for almost a year. They are kind, caring, compassionate, loving, concerned and honestly care about their residents. My mom is always clean, her room is clean and she's always involved in activities. Dementia is a cruel disease and its heart wrenching for families. I consider Barrington to be a piece of Heaven on Earth for those suffering from this disease. Believe me when I say that Barrington is the place to be.

This place is just like all the rest in Utah and Wyoming. They all have the same sales pitch and this lady, Cynthia, had the audacity to say to me “I promise, we’re not just blowing smoke!”. Well, after 2 weeks we have been lied to more times than we can count about the care and well being of my dad. After one week of being told he had been showered daily, we arrived to find that his toiletries hadn’t been touched- soap still in the wrapper and everything- even after being told that he’d taken his gold bar of Dial soap and washed - there was no gold bar of soap anywhere to be found in the bathroom not one of theirs and the one we brought was locked in a drawer in his closet untouched. Each time we’ve come he’s been sitting in his mess- so much that after the first week...his feces had dried on his bottom creating huge, painful red sores. When asked about his aggression, we were told daily that he was doing “so good” and “perfect” only when we spoke with a CNA after about a week...she said that he was mean and hitting & slapping them and that is why they had him on a different bedtime routine. Today, when we arrived one employee told me (because I asked where his pillow was) that when she got here at 6 am she found him with “stuff” everywhere-“wiping it on the windows and everywhere because he had a very large BM in the night”. Yet Cynthia the nurse told my mom she found him at 8 am when she got here. Inconsistent stories every time you ask - They say they check on him every two hours yet, we have yet to hear of one instance of him actually making it to the bathroom aside from initial arrival and the times we’ve come to visit and we have taken him into the restroom. He is constantly hungry and today he has repeated over and over again that “they beat me up”!

Our past journey with Barrington Facilities and JEA has been so undesirable it is difficult to waste anymore of my time and thoughts towards their facility. However, I believe that I owe it to my loved one and others to share the depravity of Barrington’s Place services. Though their facility tours well, that is about the extent of the niceties. In an attempt not to attack, but to review the facilities, I used a typical star format; one star being the lowest possible rating five being the highest. **** Cleanliness * Courtesy of the staff - I found the administration to be combative and accusatory. * Food –When the residents can no longer eat solid food, instead of providing soft foods such as soups, Jello and mashed potatoes, they serve pureed Salmon. Could you imagine eating this even if you liked fish? Disgusting. * Communication – no follow up to repeated requests, very limited dialogue. * Medical support – there is none, they are not a nursing center. Very conflicting information in this area, they tell you about the support when you first are entering the facilities, then afterwards, they claim they are not required by law to provide certain services because they are not a medical provider. * Safety of residents, non-existent, our loved one had several unwitnessed physical events which led to medical treatment. Overall it seems that everything that is associated with this horrible disease, they feel is a problem with the resident and have no support measure other than to medicate your loved one. We finally received dignified professional care when hospice step in; thank you to the Hospice Team! It is unfortunate that our state does not do a better job of regulating these types of facilities, it is a huge disservice to our elderly.

Very spacious and built extremely well for dementia and Alzheimers guests. This place is what i would call a world class home for dementia guests.

I can't say enough about their staff and facility. They took great care of my Grandmother until the day she passed. My Grandmother was the first resident at the facility and I have watched the facility grow. It has been an amazing experience to see how loving and compassionate the staff are to each and everyone. I am a caregiver my self and toured many facilities in the area. Putting your loved one in a care facility is not a easy task. We choose this facility before it even opened because we felt it had great concepts and really understood how to take care of Alzheimer's/Dementia. I have never looked back or regretted our decision. I am so glad that we selected the Barrington Place, they are hands down the best in the area!

They are wonderful and well trained here. They are very mature, caring and patient. The care was their top priority for the residents. It is nice and clean. They would always get him up and moving around. He was always clean and shaved up nicely. He unfortunately went downhill quickly but I'm so glad we had Barrington. I would recommend them to everyone.

My dad has been at Barrington for a month now. It is a lovely facility. The staff has been so kind to us and caring to my dad. We went to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner there, and a fun Christmas program. One of the CNAs even sings oldies country music with my dad. I am glad he is in such a safe and secure facility.

I really love this place. It has such a home-like and comforting feel to it. The staff and management are awesome. Had a great time with my dad at their Thanksgiving dinner. Over all I think it's an A plus facility.

When I was first looking for a place for my Father, I needed a community that was really close in proximity. When I first found this place I loved it. Everything here is fantastic. The people and staff have been great. This is the best place that I’ve found that specializes in Alzheimer’s care.

I was almost set on using this facility for my dad but there were a few things that changed my mind. First, this place looks [Removed]. There's nothing fun set up for the residents and the staff always seems bored, and not at all lively. My dad wanted a private room but they said they weren't filling any private rooms because they were on the other side of the facility and that he would have to share. In passing, I had mentioned a favorite hobby of mine (canning) and they sent me a case of canning jars, but then inundated me with phone calls and emails asking if I had received the gift. It felt like they were saying I was obligated to choose them. Over all, they aren't a bad community, but with the actions it made it difficult to want to have my dad live there.

The regular staff really does seem to care for their patients. The upper management in charge of admissions seem to care more about placing someone in a bed versus actually being able to provide what they promise. Food taste as if it's premade in a microwave or frozen box, the administrator is very pushy for what feels to bed a "sale", and the rest of the management staff leaves me to wonder if this is a good place for my mother. Yes the building is beautiful but it appears to be hiding a major staffing problem.

We have been very pleased with the services and care that my mom receives at Barrington Place. All of the staff has taken great strides to get to know all about my mom's past medical history, food likes and dislikes, interest and hobbies. [Removed], the health coordinator does not miss a beat with making sure her physician is updated with all her health concerns. [Removed], the administrator has gone to great lengths to protect my mom financially. [Removed], the program director, got my mom crocheting ( something that she enjoyed in the past, but hadn't done for years) in the first week she was there. The chef takes great pride in making sure every resident has adequate nutrition.Although it is never easy leaving your home, they have done their best to provide a supportive, kind environment to protect her dignity.
