The Heathers - Ringwood

I would say, it's the best place to put a love one in bar none. It really is like a home instead of an institution. The staff really care about the residences. It is secure. They are well taken care of.

Our loved one lived at The Heathers in Ringwood for almost 10 months. It is very clean and feels cozy. The care partners were great. However, I feel there is not enough staff or nursing presence in Ringwood to support Memory Care, which is what we needed. There is a lack of activities in Ringwood and I feel this is critical for memory care. The dining options were not as originally presented. Our loved one suffered a setback, as is common with Alzheimer's. She was unable to walk for a couple of weeks. We were asked to find a more suitable facility for her without offering any opportunity for her to recover. We moved her to a new facility in less than 30 days and she had fully recovered, physically walking out the door as she left. Moving a loved one is extremely difficult and adjusting to a new facility can be very hard. I feel the Heathers is a great Assisted Living facility, but I don't feel they are equipped to handle residents specifically needing Memory Care.

Our experience with Shepard premiere senior living was different than traditional nursing/assisted living homes. This place was super clean and home cooked meals were awesome. Shepard was more like real home life where they had a 1-5 ratio between nursing staff and residence when my dad moved in . This was a place where the staff was compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. They respected my dad and took care of him the way we wanted him to be cared for when my sister, brother in law, brother, sister in-law and myself and husband were his caretakers. It was a very difficult decision to leave him the hands of others but Shepard truly lived up to their high standard of care and dedication to all that lived there. We could finally breath and be his kids again esp during the last 3 months of his life. I am forever grateful to [name removed], his mom and the staff for loving my dad well all the way to the end.

My sister and I couldn’t have asked for a better place for our father to be! When we were searching for a nursing home/care facility for our father and trying to find the care affordable and yet a place we would place ourselves in if needed, we never knew how overcome with love we could feel for a place until we visited Shepherd Premier! Our search was over once we walked through their front door! It was a home inside a care facility! We knew the transition for our father would be an easy one because of the home atmosphere and after only a short time of him being there he actually started referring to Shepherd Premier as his home! The love, the care, the personal person cooking home cooked healthy meals, the Nurse, the CNA’s, the Caregivers, and of Course [name removed] and the Staff were and are the most amazing individuals! I would recommend this place over and over again to anyone who is looking for a skilled care facility for their parent or parents!!!
