Staff is very caring. Everyone is treated with kindness and since smaller facility, it’s so easy to visit with residents and other family members. Staff always has a smile for you. They work with AgeWays if funds run out. That is great so many other places will ask you to leave after they have used up their money!

The food portions are more for children. I would say this place is for individuals that are able to get up on their own and tell you what is going on. I would not put my love one thay needs help getting up or have dementia there.

I felt The Haworth Center was a safe place to have my friend. They need more outdoor activities in the yard, gardening maybe or walking the loop. Larger meals or offer seconds.

My brother moved into The Haworth Center almost one year ago and he absolutely loves it there. It is extremely reassuring to know he is safe, well cared for, and respected. His daily needs are continuously met and he is always happy and content. I have to mention he loooooves the food they prepare and looks forward to all of his meals!!! The entire staff is absolutely phenomenal and they succeed to provide excellence as well as go above and beyond with everything they do. There is always such a happy “buzz” upon entering the facility and the residents will greet you with a giant smile!

March 22, 2023Thank you so much for your kind words! We strive to take care of our Resident's in the way we would want our loved ones or ourselves to be taken care of. They don't "Live where we work - We work in THEIR HOME"!!
If your loved one is not really able to do a lot on their own, this is not a good place to be. I am always having to bring things up to them for stuff to be done. A lot of his clothes have gone missing and he has other people's clothing -even though we tagged everything like we were told to do. I would not recommend this facility for long-term care.

March 2, 2023I'm sorry you are experiencing these difficulties. I would like to encourage you to come to the front office and speak with me about this. I'd like the opportunity to address these issues with the staff myself and/or to the Administrator. Sometimes, the "missing clothing" is only that it is in the back in the Laundry area and hasn't been finished and brought back to the resident's room yet. Also, when a resident passes away, a lot of the time they will donate the resident's clothing to the facility, so if there is anything another resident can use, we will distribute the items appropriately. Hope this helps to clear things up and again, please feel free to come and speak with me up in the front office.
Looks are deceiving, this looks like an inviting place for your loved one, but we would advise you to look elsewhere. Other reviews say that the staff is friendly, which they are. What they do not say is that the care staff is unskilled. Our family was not satisfied with the care our mom received. They just do not hire highly skilled caregivers. Also, read the contract closely. They collect rent on the room for 14 days following the passing of your loved one, even though you have removed all of your loved one’s belongings. Our is advice is look for reviews that highly commend the caregivers.

Response from The Haworth Center
March 2, 2023I'm sorry you feel your experience with us was not a pleasant one. On our staffing, we are a Licensed Home for the Aged - not a Skilled Nursing Home or Subacute Rehab Center. We have a Registered Director of Nursing, Medication Technician's and Caregivers. Some may be CNA's and some are not. We do FULL background checks on all our employees which includes fingerprinting and they go through a period of mentoring with a Trainer. As far as the collection on the room rent you spoke of, we don't collect rent after a resident leaves whether it's by passing away or moving out. Your rent is pro-rated for the amount of days they were here for the month. There is an acknowledgement you sign upon admission that if the room isn't vacated OR if it isn't cleaned out of trash (left over shampoo bottles, toiletries, food items, etc) that you will be charged a fee for the trash removal. So again, I'm sorry if your perceived experience wasn't what you expected it to be.
When you pull up to the facility it is not appealing, I thought the inside may be better but that was not the case. When I walked in it reeked of urine and the residents who were out were all still in their night gowns. The tour guide told me that they had really nice décor but it was missing because one of the residents liked to take it. The rooms were very small and shared with another person. you have to use their furniture that they provide. It is a locked facility so no one can get in or leave, I understand that for memory care but not for everyone else. It was not a good tour experience.
Response from The Haworth Center
March 2, 2023I'm sorry your tour experience wasn't up to your expectations. First, I'd like to address that you had said the facility "reeked of urine" - I will emphatically disagree with you on that. I have been here for 1 year and have NEVER had this facility "reek" of urine. Concerning the decor - that is correct. Our shelving units are empty right now because we do have a resident that likes to relocate things. Resident isn't "stealing" - they just like to move things about. Not all our rooms are Companion Rooms (2 in the room), we do have 17 Private rooms in our facility and you do NOT have to use any of the donated furniture we have. You are very welcome to bring your own. Yes, we are a locked facility specifically for Memory Care/Dementia residents that are at risk of wandering away from their homes - so they need a safe environment. If you have a loved one that resides in our facility, you will get a Key FOB that will get YOU in and out of the building at any time you wish. Again, I'm sorry you perceived your tour as a bad tour as I currently have another family that used to have a loved one here that is in process of bringing another loved one here. So I'm sure if we were that bad, they wouldn't want to bring another family member here.
This is a good community and I feel good about my brother being here. However, like all communities they are having some staffing issues at the time. They have activities like crafts, movies, puzzles, board games and more for the residents to do to stay busy.

Response from The Haworth Center
March 2, 2023Thank you for the kind words about our facility! Staffing can be an issue for pretty much all Senior Care Facilities and we have all struggled getting fully staffed coming out of the Pandemic. It's unfortunate that no one seems to want to "go back to work", but we are getting there!
We did a virtual tour of this community and it was very nice. The staff was friendly and they provided lots of information. The tour was very nice also but we wanted a smaller community that was very focused on memory care.

A Place for Mom has scored The Haworth Center 8.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
