The Gardens overall is a pretty good facility. Some of the staff is excellent and some is not so much. The Wellness director who was there while my Dad is now gone, which is a blessing. The Wellness director now is one of my Dad favorite nurses and she's fantastic so I am sure things are better in that area. The activities are fantastic. They keep the patients busy which is great. The food was not very good. They could use improvement in that area. My Dad was pretty well cared for. They are very good at dressing them for the day and putting them in PJs at night. They also now have cameras in the rooms to alert the nurses if a patient needs help which was a great idea. I moved my Dad to the Gardens after a bad experience at another facility close by. I'm glad I did. They do a pretty good job. I actually recommended the Gardens to a friend who was having issues with another facility and she has since moved her father to the Gardens and is very happy.... Read more

There is! But I also want to say that it was amazing like the first month, then the head of the place got hurt really badly and everything just went downhill from there. It took them a while, but they hired a really good girl that manages the place. Her name is [name removed] and I have loved her. She literally had to redo the entire staff from top to bottom so it's been a challenge, but she has been super open with us about that and we have embraced it. We were going to move him in the midst of all that, but we gave her time to fix all the things and has been great. And my dad is really happy there and we are happy now also.

Inconsistent quality of service due to significant turnover in leadership. There has been 3 executive directors in 9 months and 3 head nurses in 9 months. There has also not been an activities director for 6 months.

Response from The Gardens of Germantown
May 30, 2024Hi Sue, we are happy to hear this, and we greatly appreciate your feedback! Thank you for taking the time to leave us this detailed review.
We were there for a very short period of time less than 2 months. the majority of this time mom had been placed in hospice care with Compassus. The things we liked most was we were told there would be a nurse on duty 24 hrs a day in moms unit. There were only 10 residents in moms unit. The layout of the facility. It was very open, the living area and dining room was located in the center and all of the residents rooms surrounded the dining and living room. there were no long halls.

The facility is clean and well-maintained. Staff members are friendly, they answered all of our questions without hesitation. The amount and variety of activities offered were outstanding, more than other facilities we have toured!

Response from The Gardens of Germantown
September 27, 2023Hi Mary, we are happy to hear this! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
Everyone was friendly and helpful and the facility was beautiful. It was the best fit for my mom since they were strictly memory care. They were kind when my mother in law passed and made it easy for me to get her belongings. She had a large room and we were able to bring all of her furniture and make it look like home for her. The administrator is always on site and makes himself available for questions and concerns. I would recommend The Gardens of Germantown to others looking.

They do pretty well. They try to keep the rooms as clean as possible. They are friendly and approachable. They do the best that they can, with what they have. They do a really good job with my loved one. They are always on top of what I need or request. My loved one is eating well. They are trying to do more activities, but they seem limited. Out of all the places, for the amount of money, they do a good job with keeping staff for his area. It's strictly memory care, so I like how it's divided based on their needs, it truly works.

Response from The Gardens of Germantown
February 1, 2023Hi, Sue - we have such wonderful team members and we appreciate you sharing your experience and we strive to create such experiences for everyone! Thank you for your feedback!
Every person from the "CEO" to custodian left me feeling as if they had my loved one in their good care and keeping. Pros: Friendly and considerate staff (sometimes the Director would drop what she's doing to address a concern, Care plan that addresses the whole resident (mentally, physically, spiritually); Conscientious re cleanliness (soiled linen & clothing washed expediently, seldom mal-odor, quick re spills, etc.), Visitors that provided entertainment, etc.) Cons: More staff per resident ratio (would alleviate subtle hints of frustration, by caregiver, with some residents for their inappropriate and/or challenging behaviors), More attention to building & grounds upkeep (rear of building area looks less maintained plus cobwebs around entry doors)

January 23, 2023Hi, we know that making a move to a senior community can be a difficult process and it makes us all so happy to hear of great experiences like this. Thank you for your feedback! We greatly appreciate it.
I toured this community and it was a nice place. Cleanliness was good, staff was friendly. But it was more expensive than some other options.

January 25, 2023Hi, we greatly value your feedback, and we appreciate you sharing your experience with us!
In our experence this memory care residence does not provide the basic quality of care for residence suffering from dementia. Due to the lack of communication, inconsistent staff/not enough staff and limited activities we have been dishearted by the quality of care for our loved one. Are there some good things probably but when there is consisency with unfamilar faces, unclean rooms, no communication or solutions about issues and you witness your loved one declining in a space where you just want basics. While I do not want to belittle but this memory care residence it needs significant attention to the care of it residence. How can a demitia resident feel a level of care when each day, week, month there is a new face. How can they feel care if their room if not cleaned or dirty clothes remain for a duration of time. How can a resident feel a sense of love when majority of the time there is no one attentive when they don't remembering what to do. We have not been satisfied with GOG

We greatly appreciate your feedback, and kindly ask that you reach out to us to ensure we address any additional areas of concern at info@myvitalityliving.com. Thank you.
The staff have been very good. The food is okay. For a memory care facility the activities is okay. We picked this community because, mainly for the location to family members. My advice to other families is to, make sure that your loved one clearly has memory issues that will never improve. My loved one has improved.

November 2, 2022Hi - we greatly value your feedback. Thank you for taking a moment to leave us a five-star review!
Our family had an in person tour and we were not impressed at all, it was just not good and we left in tears
They had a change in staff and bookkeeping, which was my only concern. Other than that, they communicated well. It was a brand new bulding, which was very clean. Overall, it was very reasonable for the value of the money.

Response from The Gardens of Germantown
August 24, 2022Hi, Beverly - we greatly value your feedback, and we appreciate you sharing your experience with us!
there was dust and needle covers under my mom's bed. I mentioned it to the Exec Director who had the head maintenance guy on the case in less than (literally) 30 seconds. Another incident involved not having mom's trash can emptied. The ED came to her room as soon as I mentioned it, figured out the problem and had as solution. Friendliness of staff gets 5++++. No complaints, but another facility (the one my mom got kicked out of) had at least two choices for each meal. And this is *totally* nit-picky, but they occasionally have watermelon snacks, but the watermelon has seeds, which is difficult for dementia sufferers to grapple with. Especially considering the location. I like that the "neighborhoods" are segregated based on cognitive ability. It helps Mom feel less alone, more able to join in with people on her "level". Our brief (unsuccessful) attempt at adult daycare left Mom commenting on how "stupid and boring" the other clients were. She has never said this regarding the other residents in her neighborhood.

The staff go above and beyond, especially the manager. They really helped us with the whole move in experience with anything that we needed. There are two ladies especially that are very special and take great care of our loved one, they even call her mom. I am very happy with the experience with The Gardens of Germantown. I really cannot say enough about the staff, I would give them much higher than a 5 if I could.

The Gardens of Germantown is a very homey place. They seem to know everyone by name and they took very good care of my loved one. It's a small community which creates more of a homey feel. I would recommend The Gardens to others & I already have.

Good community, the only drawback was there was no pool.

February 16, 2022Hi, thank you for your feedback! We greatly appreciate you taking time to leave us a 5-star review.
This was a horrible experience for us. They mispresented themselves. The emergency cords don't work and nobody monitors it according to the staff. This all took place in the first week, and things went downhill for us. The clothes were misplaced and not even done for a few weeks, along with the bed linens. I ended up bringing my loved one home after such a bad experience and went against my expressed requests. There was a woman in the same unit that my loved one was in and this individual would spit in my loved one's face, and the staff would not do anything about it. The staff were supposed to check on my loved one every 15 minutes and that wouldn't happen.
