The Marketing Director, [name removed], was amazing in helping me choose Sunrise of Chesterfield for my husband. She went out of her way to accommodate the necessary time frame and handled every possible detail that arose. She has a terrific personality, was very efficient, and made the entire process less stressful for me.

I am glad that my sisters-in-law are staying at this facility. We've had some rough moments at the start for both but the staff is caring and responsive and my husband and I are very happy with the care.

They didn’t have available what I needed for my folks, but [name removed] the sales rep spent a ton of time on the phone with me giving me tips for navigating my Mom’s recovery and rehab even though she had no stakes. If she’s any kind of example of what the rest of the staff is like, I would be thrilled to place my parents there. [name removed] is an amazing human.

I personally don't think they have enough nursing staff. Dad was not always kept shaved etc. As is always the case, there were a few aides who were fantastic. I liked the setup of space and the way it felt more residential than hospital!

I don't think their response times are accepts. What I'm saying is, when my dad pushed the call button, no one readily came. When I was there with him, I would wait 30 minutes after him pushing it, and then go find someone to help him. I'm not even sure they would come at all if I wasn't there to advocate for him. Also, their maintenance is atrocious. They didn't have a door knob for my dad for a month. He moved to a different room, so they may have taken longer than a month to put on a door knob.

August 30, 2024Hi, Your feedback is important to us, and it is unfortunate that you did not have a positive experience at Sunrise of Chesterfield. Please allow us an opportunity to closely review your concerns by contacting info@sunriseseniorliving.com. Thank you! – The Sunrise Team
I thought this would be a good place. The initial presentation makes you think 'wow' and happy you have found a safe place for your parent. Then it becomes clear you were lied to. I don't know where to start about the complaints. Hidden fees(will charge higher for care within a month) they do not confirm with the actual(spouse, child, caregiver)representative. Stolen phones. Workers kissing occupants(assault) . Secretary's asking you to store their goods for them. Paying [removed] in just taking care of your loved one, only to get a call because staff cannot(not that they can't, just they won't) open a bag with someone's hygiene products. The one in front of their faces. Basically asking anything besides death falls on deaf ears. It's a dog eat dog living arrangement I blame sunrise most importantly, but I also blame your service for not being able to actually care. A place for mom sold me to the highest bidder. I assume your all bad people and honestly(I don't believe) hope there is a God.

A place for mom did a great job helping to connect us to Sunrise. We were struggling to find a good fit for dad’s needs and did not have much time. They helped us connect since I live far away. Sunrise is good fit and that was important. I am so relieved to have a happy comfortable community for dad. Everyone at Sunrise has helped make a smooth transition and make dad comfortable

Staffing impacts service from care givers to cafeteria. Short staff = stress. The caregivers there are wonderful and genuinely care about my parents.

Today, Monday [date removed], I went to visit my mother at Sunrise Senior Living at Chesterfield, where my Mother has made her residence for going on one year. The staff at this facility keeps a very loud and aggressive dog, which roams freely and unmuzzled. As soon as I walked through the front entrance, the Sunrise at Chesterfield dog charged at me barking loudly. The dog then placed his head in a low level position, moving it rapidly from side to side, and growling. I felt very unsafe. I tried kicking the dog away to keep him at bay, but was unsuccessful. Some lady there, who said she is the executive director, then told me I was banned from the property. What?!? Untrained and unruly dogs which possess an unstable temperament should not be mixing with elderly residents and their loved ones.

Facility is very nice, employees were super friendly and easy to work with, price a little high, but overall service good when they were fully staffed. During our time there it seemed they were always looking for more staff. We picked this location because another family member had been to Sunrise and we thought we were only gonna stay for a few weeks we ended up staying for six months.I would recommend.

They were under staffed for a while otherwise, they are great and treat my Mother well. She is so much better there than she was before. To me they are close to a 5 in all categories. I would recommend Sunrise of Chesterfield.

The quality of care is excellent. The staff is caring and attentive to all of his needs. They are short staffed, which sometimes makes turn around time a little long - but the staff does everything they can to be timely.

Sunrise does not have the residents best interest in mind. I picked it because I didn't have the knowledge or experience to know better. It was convenient.

The physical building, room layout and design as well as the location were wonderful. Sadly that's all I can broadly say was good about our experience. We had major communication issues with the operations management staff. Despite trying to call them, they were never available and we'd leave messages that weren't returned. When we were there in person we requested to speak to management and they never replied despite our being told they were on site. We never received information as we moved our father in as to what items they provided vs. what we needed to supply, I.e. Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper, so we never knew what we exactly were to stock for him. We weren't told what day his laundry would be done, when his room would be cleaned, etc. When we experienced issues with his laundry, bedding, clothing disappearing from his room and not returning for days, if at all, we were told it was in the wash, but there are numerous items that we NEVER saw again or received back. For example, we took 3 cotton blankets (like they have in hospital beds) and when we moved him out, there was only 1 in his room. We had issues with the cleanliness of his room. He ate meals in his room and the facility dishes with food would be left multiple days in his room or sink. His dishes for things we provided such as his coffee and smoothies would sit in the sink until a family member washed them. He always had food crumbs on the floor making it look like he went more than a week between vacuuming. He had trash overflowing. The staff was mixed. He had 1 care giver whom he truly trusted and we know took care of him. There were others who did not appear to be trained well enough to care for him or they had language barriers making it challenging for them to communicate with him! For example despite his asking them they would not use a gait belt when lifting/moving him. They repeatedly told him it wasn't necessary yet he was a big man at 250+ pounds with a severe fall risk. Not all staff seemed trained on using the Hoyer lift. Staff inexperience resulted in him experiencing severe bruising and ripped skin due to caregivers mishandling him when working with him. He had 1 nurse who we truly felt cared for him and strived to assist him. The Sales manager was responsive in most situations and seemed to empathize with our position when we discussed them. We asked on more than one occasion if our expectations were too high and were assured they were not, yet the disappointment continued. I feel the facility is severely understaffed and could benefit from additional training. They all seemed to have more patients to serve than physically possible and it was my father who suffered as a result! The slow or non-responsiveness of the staff resulted in him missing an entire dialysis session because they did not have him dressed and out of bed when his contracted (by us) medical transport came to pick him up. Additionally, due to their staffing shortages there were days when he went as late as 9:45 AM before being brought breakfast, yet he is diabetic and hadn't eaten since the night before. On multiple occasions I had to call them due to low blood sugar alerts because they had not fed him yet. I could go on, but feel this is demonstrative enough to the care he did or did not receive. I would not recommend this facility due to its current staffing and experience level!

Our family had an in person tour experience with Sunrise of Chesterfield and we thought it was a great tour experience, everything was very positive and the staff were very friendly.
My husband was complicated. Based on our experience, I think they could use a better training program. He often did not get showered on his days because staff were not informed. Pay people more and expect higher standards. They were always responsive to concerns.

I was not impressed with Sunrise. There would be staff that got my loved one confused, with other residents when the family would check on our loved one. There were times that the staff would lock our loved one in their room. Then the staff claims that someone must have accidently locked the door. The memory care floor seemed to be dingy. There are three floors of the community. The assisted living floors might be different than the memory care area that
