Review for Spring Mill Senior Living

I would say, it is worth a tour. Depending on their parent's needs it might be a good fit. We picked this community because, it was not set up like a hospital setting and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. They answered all my questions and addressed my concerns.

My loved one was previously a resident at Spring Mill Senior Living and the experience was okay. I would probably recommend this facility to others, though the food does need improvement.

Spring mill was a great stay ,nothing negative I can say. The respite stay my loved one had was 2 weeks. It would be nice if Medicare would contribute partial of the stay.

Caring Community!

5 for all categories! Very pleased with the Spring Mill Senior Living community and the care the give to the residents living there. Spring Mill checks all of the above boxes. The residents are always clean and nicely dressed and groomed. The staff is incredibly accommodating and kind, taking time to greet and chat with and even hug dementia residents. Meals are appealing and the staff goes out of their way to learn and present resident preferences. Yes, this kind of care is pricey but it is wonderful care.

Spring Mill Senior Living review

I have been a victim of bait and switch- every time I talk to facility I am paying a different price, they will go this or that- not being done- our loved one supposedly on low salt diet and no one cared about that- our loved one had no AC during those 100+ degree days- pipes in kitchen bursting- elevator got stuck no one picks up - meds were messed up and then our loved one has to fight to get them some days- needed dental care and 3 different nurses told her 3 different things- these are just a few if my pet peeves

Dig Deep

Short staffed, mediocre food, limited activities. We picked this community, because it was close to my home, and they lowered the price to match another's because they had openings and wanted to fill beds. I would not recommend, until they get better staffing, also the director had just changed and she didn't seem like she was up to speed.

Our families experience

What we really liked about Spring Mill is the overall look of the place - it is very nice right when you walk in, the lobby is beautiful there is a big fireplace and a very outdoor space that is very nice looking. The dining hall in the main part of the community was very nice, there is a little community gathering room for the residents. The security was really good for when you wanted to come and go. Just like everyone else they were experiencing staffing issues so something like the cleanliness/house keeping, the meals and laundry was lacking in consistency. Also sometimes on the memory care side where our loved one was, we would ask them for different meal options since the food was not very diverse and it would not always happen.

Much Better Than Other Places

This was a better experience than other communities that my loved one had been at. The staff and the nurses were great at caring for my loved one. They seemed a little short of Aides. The communication with the staff was great and they were responsive to my questions or concerns about my loved one.

Warm and welcoming place

The Spring Mill Senior Living community is very clean and based on our experience so far we would recommend it to other families. The reason we gave this community some 4's overall is the recently restructured pricing and the different levels of care per month so now the charges are doubling and we are just trying to figure out why and what all that entails.

The earlier poster nailed it. You'll have a mixed bag at Spring Mill. Food and activities are rated good by my relative. most aides and staff are efficient but others are abrupt and seem annoyed if he asks for help. He seems hesitant to ask and feels like he's a bother, and that's not right for the price he pays. Understaffing is a problem---good luck on a weekend when the staff are bare bones--you're going to wait a long time if you need help or need your meds. Executive leadership is very good but in contrast, very poor leadership on the nursing side. There's a lack of care, compassion, and simple kindness, and a coldness that would lend itself better to a job handling data rather than interacting with the vulnerable elderly. This attitude trickles down to some aides. I can relate to the other poster who had to work around the head nurse to get a problem solved. The agency aides are more helpful in general, and more experienced. People working the front desk are very nice.

Friendly and caring at Spring Mill

I recommend this community for your loved one. It is a great place for them to be. They have activities to go out on the bus shopping and to trips and more for the residents to do. The staff are good I do not have much contact with them but from my other loved ones things are being handled.

Highly Recommended Home for a Loved One

I think it's wonderful place. They've been very attentive to my loved one's needs. When I was touring, they went way out of their way to show me around, including one of the administrators walking around with a leg injury with a camera. They've been very accommodating in scheduling meetings with any staff we've needed to talk with, and they've had roundtables with our family. Any concerns we've had, they have addressed and corrected them. They're just very accommodating, friendly, and professional. With all this Covid stuff and staffing issues, there has been some turnover and a learning curve with people coming in and out. But overall they're still providing good care, and they go out of their way to help my loved one. They just changed chefs, and whereas the food was good before, it is now excellent. It looks like they have lots of activities if you choose to participate. We got in on a pretty significant discount that will stick with him through his entire stay, so it's a good value. He raves about their recommended hospice provider, which is Holistic Care Hospice. He loves their staff, and they're very attentive. If you call them, they'll return your call within a couple of hours, or by the next day at the latest.

Mixed Review - I can't say that they were awesome, but I can't say they were horrible.

The executive director was really good. I do think there are some really gold star employees there who are passionate about what they do. At the tail end of my loved one's time there, there was a director of nursing who was absolutely terrible, and my family and I had to work around that with the director. But she was understanding and worked with us. I know that there were some true angels there, but I know they were going through a lot of transition. So I would make sure to ask questions to see if they've made it through that transition and have had consistency of staff. I'm not sure what exactly was going on, if it was new management, or something else. Overall, there were some really, really great people, and a couple who were not good at all. I don't know how their transition through Covid has been, since my loved one hasn't been in the community for a little while. We were there for a respite stay. But while we were there, they had some limited activities and were making the effort to have outdoor activities during the warmer weather. I saw that sometimes they were having music/entertainment outside.
