Spring Hills Somerset

During the two tours we had prior to choosing this home we saw staff engaging the residents. Once we had moved mom in, and we would “stop by” there was little to no real care; the staff got the residents dressed, in diapers, and pushed them into the recreation room with the others, placed them in front of a TV and left them. It was a sad experience to watch. The staff “barely” spoke English and this made it harder for the elderly to understand. She passed in [date removed], and the body was picked up within 24hrs and transported to the funeral home. However, when we arrived 3 days later to remove items from her room; even the socks she had on at her passing were still on the floor; the room hadn’t been cleaned or straightened. It’s a horrible place to send loved ones. It was too overwhelming to try to have her moved and we didn’t have the funds after being in contract with them.

The primary reason we chose Spring Hills Somerset is because they worked with us and were the only feasible option we found. Every other facility only offered two year spend down and a shared room, which wouldn't have been a good fit. That said, we were still pleased and comfortable placing [name removed] there. We do wish it was closer so stopping by would be easier but the team there has truly been wonderful. As with most situations like this, there were a few minor bumps in the road but nothing significant.

The Administrators and staff as well combined with the physical space at this facility are committed to providing patients the best care and demonstrate their respect and joy in their interactions with the patients. They get to know each patient and there is a wonderful sense of joy that I did not expect. From the time you enter the greeting is warm and personal and you can see that staff know each person as well as administrators! So, I bring that same energy everyday when I visit because it is contagious! My husband of 53 years is receiving excellent care and is engaged throughout the day with activities and routine because administrators and staff know and care for each individual person, so when I leave to go home, I have no worries because of the excellent compassionate care he receives 24/7! ??????????

Friendliness of staff gets a 5++++, All of the staff have always been so friendly and helpful! Our loved one does not partake of any activities, his own choice. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

Since my mom moved into Spring Hills Somerset, the facility has gone through 3 different Directors. My go to people for communication have been the nurses. Different higher ups have made it difficult to count on them, to be honest. Housekeeping is good, food is fine, there is always something going on for activities. I am there 2-3 times/week at different times, so I meet different staff at various shifts. The nurses are organized and by the book, which I appreciate; professional. I like that it is a smaller facility. I have gotten to know several residents by name. My mom loves her space. The cost is crazy, but seems to be lower than other "chain" facilities. I am confused a bit on what the parameters are for assisted living versus memory care. Some of the residents that I see in the assisted living unit seem like they need much more hands on care, that the memory unit upstairs at Spring Hills I assume, provides. I would recommend this facility and always encourage families to constantly monitor. Overall, I do like it for Mom, but I am always watching.

We love the activities they offer for the residents to participate in, and we also like all the staff members they have working there as well as the privacy (private room) offered by Spring Hills Somerset.

What we really like the most about the Spring Hills Somerset community is the staff and the cleanliness. The community is very clean and the staff members are very friendly. Everyone takes pride in their work and we would recommend this community to other families

Family member does not partake in any activities- his loss. Based on our experience so far, the management was very responsive and worked closely with us to get the family member transferred there and settled in.

Best balanced and number of choices on the menu by far of the communities in central Jersey. Staff and business office are flexible, nursing care is attentive, and personnel friendly always willing to engage.

The best thing is when you walk in it is SO clean looking and smells clean. The staff is great! Exceptionally friendly. My sister has Alzheimer's and I live in Florida, I was able to arrange a weekly video call with my sister. The staff really goes out of their way. The only negative thing I have to say is in memory care in the common room. The aids really just sit there. I couple of times I visited and my sister was just sitting there with the TV on in the common room. That made me sad. In summary, it is working out nicely for my sister at Spring Hills. They take good care of her.

I looked at 5 others in the area, everything was pretty comparable. But in this case, Spring Hills Somerset was being updated so it was newer, the staff I interacted with were great, and the location is very convenient for me to go visit. The location while it is not in a busy area, it is convenient to all major hubs in the area. The value for what they provide is significantly less expensive than some others that we saw. The staff does not have a lot of turnover, so they are happy to work there which is a big plus. I would recommend Spring Hills.

They have a friendly staff. The community is in a good location. The care seems to be fine for my loved one. The staff are responsive to to our questions or concerns. I do wish they would be quicker to respond to fulfill our requests for our loved one. My loved one has stated the community has run out of choices for meals, even in the first feeding for the residents. The service of meals could be quicker as well, as sometimes the residents are waiting 30-45 minutes to be served the food.

Spring Hills Somerset has been instrumental in improving my mother's life. We were struggling to care for her at home and needed help. After touring many communities, we knew Spring Hills would be a perfect fit - and we were right! I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful staff that has made my mother feel right at home. It's a great feeling! The food is FANTASTIC, it's super clean, and they always have something fun to do for the residents. I could go on & on - it really is a great place. I highly reccomend Spring Hills Somerset if you're looking for phenonemal services for your loved ones.

The number of daily menu selections and weekly meal rotations are second to none. We visited several communities in Central Jersey and Florida and none compared to the number of menu selections and high-quality preparation of the food. One of the major reasons why we chose Spring Hills! Not to forget the high-level and quality caregiving by the entire team, front office, nursing staff and aids. I highly recommend Spring Hills!

Originally when our loved one moved in the meals and dining service was perfect and there were like 14 different menu choices during the week, but just like everybody else they are having some staffing issues so sometimes it takes awhile to be served and the food can be cold. However they do have a ton of daily activities for those who are interested in them. The residents are able to go out shopping and have day trips, there are morning exercises, arts an crafts, live entertainment, and even a garden club. We were able to go there for a Mother's Day tea and it was wonderful. One thing we really like is they have a care giver support group which we think is terrific. We have been very happy with Spring Hills.

It's a very good experience. From the ownership and management right down to the staff and nurses - everybody has been very kind, friendly, and informative. They connect with a platform called Life Loop, where they take pictures of activities and things and post online for the family to see how our loved one is doing.

The general area is overall clean. However, my loved one's room was never cleaned by the staff during their stay. We ended up moving my loved one out of the community due to a medical condition. Overall we were very disappointed in the care my loved one received, as we were expecting more care than my loved one actually received. The process of shopping around or being "recruited" compared to moving in was two extreme sides of the spectrum.

I toured this community for my mother and was very impressed with the staff, the facility and the food! We look forward to moving mom to this beautiful facility!

The first impression we had right away was how clean and well kept the community it. Based on our experience so far we would recommend the Spring Hills Somerset community to others.
