They were very nice and toured us around the entire facility. We spoke to residents. Everyone was nice. During the move in process they kept in touch and were very helpful. Once my mom moved in though it was hard to find someone to get answers when needed because their move in coordinator had left. Some things they told us had changed though; she can’t park her scooter in the hall, there is no Sunday brunch; salt water pool is actually chlorine. All things that were selling points. The food is awful, over cooked, tiny portions, they run out halfway through the 2 hour dinner period. Good things include the indoor pool, lots of activities and the maintenance man is wonderful!!... My experience with my mother is that the assisted living is woefully and chronically understaffed. There is a huge staff turnover, especially with management. Reported problems do not get fixed, and prevailing attitude with the organization seems to be profit over people. There are, of course some staff members who try to do their jobs well, but that seems to be the exception. They have emergency call necklaces, but there was a quicker response in the independent living apartments than there is in the assisted living section.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a really nice tour experience
I toured Robin Run and I liked it. Their memory care unit was located on the 2nd floor. The community was nice and clean, but the rooms were a little small. I did like them, but we chose another community because they couldn't accept my mom based on her level of care & behavioral state.
We have been very happy with Robin Run. They are not as new and sparkly as some places, but my mother in law needs intellectual stimulation and all of the residents are super nice and down to earth. They really took her under their wing when she moved in here. It is exactly what she needed and things are working out great, she has been so happy. The value for the money is wonderful. I would absolutely recommend them.

I would tell people not to move here until the food service has gone back to normal. the food is not good. I would like the washers and dryers to be better. The rooms are nice and they keep the grounds clean. This place is so much better than where I was before

Response from Robin Run
May 21, 2019We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and will share your feedback with our management team for review.
My wife & I have lived at Robin Run Village for 7+ years, and are very happy here. My life before was rich and satisfying. But it is considerably richer now. To us, the best asset of RRV is the wonderful community. It is a vital, caring, friendly place to be. We have experienced some severe "bumps in the road," (for instance: the death of a son; and a health crisis keeping me in medical facilities for 6 months),, We could not have asked for a more compassionate community -- residents and staff -- who surrounded us and supported us. We each have made very helpful use of the excellent therapy teams (physical, occupational). There are playful opportunities, challenging activities, enjoyable entertainment and fun excursions. If you have an interest which is not being served here, the staff will help support starting something new. A large proportion of the programming is resident-initiated and resident run. The facilities are well cared for and are continually being updated and improved. Maintenace issues are typically dealt with very quickly. Recently-built accomodations for Assisted Living and for Memory Care are first rate. The administration is sensitive and responsive to the needs and problems which residents encounter. Through the Resident Council we have significant input. Robin Run Village is not perfect. But we love being here.

I moved to Robin Run Village seven years ago. Having done careful research, exploring options of several similar facilities I was convinced that this was the place I would fit in and feel at home. After living here for seven years I would now affirm this as the best place to live. We are a close, but not closed, community. Activities abound; lots to do, a variety of things to do. Staff and neighbors who care about and for each other. Leadership and volunteers who go above and beyond what you would expect. Symbols for me are two things that I love. The bus takes us to the Indianapolis Symphony Coffee Classics series and also to the Indians baseball games. The contrast of an executive officer who will sing a silly song in a concert and give a moving tribute at a resident's memorial service! My decision to move here was 100% a right one.

My husband has been in Robin Run Health Care for a year and a half. The Center is very clean and odor free. The Rooms are big and all have windows that look out on the beautiful Robin Run grounds. The Center receives High marks from the State Health Department because the staff are very careful about keeping good records. While in the past there have been periods where there were too few nurses and aides with problems with prompt care, recently a new administrator, and the promotion of a very caring and organized head nurse have brought remarkable improvements.: Regular attendance of an enlarged number of both hurses and aides has resulted in prompt, caring response to bedside lights, and routine care that brings all residents to breakfast in a timely manner. I am very satisfied with the new regime. Another plus of being a part of the Robin Run Residences is that there are many Robin Run residents visiting patients. Finallly, there is a bimonthly meeting for family members of Health Care residents led by an experienced group leader who sends a report of each meeting to the RR Director and the Health Care administrator - who respond with appropriate directives.

I reviewed more than 10 retirement options in Indianapolis for my relative. Frankly I found that there were a number of very good ones. However, Robin Run stood out favorably among all because it offers the full range of care and support at all health conditions of the aging process in an impeccable environment. The facility environment and the administrators are top shelf, friendly, efficient and attentive. The residents are especially warm and friendly. A full range of engaging activities are provided both on premise and as outside events. Rooms are well designed and adequately spacious with all necessary facilities. Food and service is especially exceptional - a first rate dinning experience with many choices of excellent entrees and accompaniments. Considering the overall excellence offered by Robin Run - pricing is remarkably competitive.

We feel blessed to have found Robin Run Retirement Village. It is even more and better than we ever dreamed. Friendliness everywhere, and neighbors who are friendly and helpful. The dining room is inviting and the food is usually very good. We live in a Garden Home and have very adequate space with 2 bedrooms 2 full baths, office and sunroom. Our dog loves the new dog park too! [Name removed]

You have to be admitted to this facility to give a fair rating. You CANNOT give a rating as an outside person looking in. I was transferred to Robin Run from a hospital for rehab. My transfer was done at 10:30 am. My recruiter from Robin Run made me certain guarantees that were not kept - the main issue being my medications. Things were bad from the very beginning, and they never got better. I was put into a room - had my vitals taken - was told that my meds were being entered into the computer and I would receive them upon completion of that task - was told I would get my lunch at 12:30 - then left alone.....for HOURS ! 12:30 came and went - no lunch - no staff attention - no meds. 1:30 arrived - still no lunch - still no staff attention - still no meds. I put on the call light and waited....and waited....and waited - for 25 mins. Nobody came. So I called the front desk and asked who was over my area. Someone from administration was sent to my room and brought the nurse assigned to me. I expressed my opinion - asked for my noon meds - asked for some lunch. It's now 2 pm. The nurse said that she was still entering my meds into the computer (since 10:30 am), and that I would get them soon. The administrator went to get me some lunch - I finally ate at 2:30 pm. - then I was pretty much left alone for the remainder of the day - still no meds. Every call light was answered after an average of 20 mins or so, and there was always an excuse as to why I couldn't get my meds. The staff was totally rude in the evening hours. So - I laid in bed all night crying from the severe pain. The next morning, my initial nurse came back on duty, and I REALLY expressed my desperate opinion about not receiving my meds. She acted surprised and stated that she had left my pain meds out for the night nurse to give me and didn't know why it wasn't given to me. That made me furious ! She quickly ran and got my pain meds then told me the meds had just come in that morning right before she came to my room ! Now how could she have meds for me the night before if they had just come in that morning ?? I had been without meds for almost 24 hrs by this time !! After my having some words with various people concerning that mess - the rest of that day went very, very smooth where my getting my meds was concerned. Everything else was still the same - meals coming 1 1/2 - 2 hrs late - call lights being answered after 20 - 25 mins - no orientation - meetings being scheduled then cancelled - admin straggling into the room to introduce themselves but they never seemed interested in fixing my problems - and I didn't leave that room for 2 days !! But - I did see how they treated my room mate who had Alzheimer's - absolutely disgraceful. My 3rd day was much the same as the first two - seems like I was always having to beg for what I wanted or needed. I had my son bring my rollator from home so I could get out of the room and see where I was. I did have a little bit of rehab that day, but not much - mostly meet and greet. That night - around 10:15 pm or so - a man came into my room wanting some "hoochie koochie" - I couldn't believe it ! I'd heard him out in the hallway for about an hour going to different doors and stuff, but I never heard any staff telling him to go back where he belonged or anything. Of course I couldn't get any staff to answer my call light so I made him leave my room myself. That was the straw that broke the camel's back !! I sat up all night making sure no other men came into my room and called my son to pick me up the next morning. I got all packed up and just waited. The next morning when I told the nurse I was leaving - several people tried to talk me into staying - promising that things would change. I didn't believe them. I signed out and went home where I knew I would get my meds - eat on time - and be safe. I will find a way to rehab on my own. A synopsis of my stay at Robin Run is: The patient and their needs do not seem to hold priority status at Robin Run. The place is very unorganized and short staffed. A lot of the staff is lazy and rude with attitudes that are not positive. Administration seems to be out of the building more than they are in the building, and this may be the reason for a lot of the problems therein. They put on a good show in front of family and friends - but please take the time to look closer look at the inner workings before you leave your loved one alone at Robin Run. Thank you.

It is a beautiful and clean community. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the questions we had during the tour. This community was our first runner up. The only reason we did not choose this community was due to the location.

A Place for Mom has scored Robin Run 6.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
