My loved one is currently a resident at Redbud Place and the overall experience has been very good so far. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The meals are good. The care services are also great. I would highly recommend Redbud Place to others as an option for Assisted Living.... Read more

Sometimes they're short handed on the weekends. Have to stand outside a long time to get inside to visit. Not enough people to man the door. Normally only 1 bath a week. The food could use some improvement. But the staff is friendly. Would recommend due to the price.

Communication was lacking on the part of the leasing agent before we moved my Dad in. He was not expected on the day we moved him in but he was made welcome right away. Dad has recently become a widower and has some dementia challenges. We expected some displeasure with a new environment, schedules, people, etc. but he is beginning to relax at his new home. The staff is good to remind him of meal times and he is checked on often 24/7. However the staff turn over has been unsettling to my Dad and the family since each new staff member needs briefing on his challenges and require time to get to know him in order to work well with him. . There has been some concern that the meals are not good. Some meals like pizza and salad do not set well with Dad. Housekeeping: His apartment is kept clean, the garbage is removed daily and his laundry is washed and dried overnight and returned folded.

February 3, 2022Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are disappointed to hear this, as our residents are always our #1 priority. Please contact our Enlivant Cares line at 1-888-777-4780 to elaborate on your experience. Thank you!
I liked this facility more than the one that we went to . My loved one went with another facility and that is the only reason that we did not go with this facility.
As far as we know the meal quality could be improved, we do hear complaints. We think it is because the menu planning is done in the home office and they are sending the menus out across the country, so depending on the region sometimes the menu items and meal items don't match up. However they have full on activities, and that was one of the reasons we chose Redbud. There is so much for the residents to do.

I liked this place from what I saw. The only downfall was the last room wasn't available by the time my loved one needed it.
Oh my goodness the staff here is so friendly! Mom is moving in soon and I popped by unexpectedly to see her apartment and they went above and beyond.

What stuck out to us about Redbud Place was the location, she has a lot of friends in the area so it was important she was close to them. The room sizes here are average compared to others we saw. She has gained weight since she has been here so she does like the food that is served. Overall, I would recommend and already have.

The staff members at this community were very friendly, we would say it was about moderately priced. The activities they had before COVID were good. Our loved one wasn't a fan of the food, there wasn't enough served on the plates. The rooms would be a four out of five, they came with house keeping but it wasn't very good.

Redbud Place was a very caring community. The staff were very helpful. They offered a lot of activities and outings including trips to the casinos and baseball games. The chef was so sweet. My dad was picky, and she would always try to prepare things for him that he would ask for and that she knew he liked. He really enjoyed to food. They quality was good and they offered a lot of variety. Overall,, they wonderful were just wonderful there.

We moved my in laws into the community a few weeks before my mother in law passed away. The staff were so wonderful and took such good care of her. They have been so kind and supportive of my my father in law. The communication is just fantastic. It is a friendly and family oriented community. They are absolutely wonderful and we just love it there.

The staff seem to really care about the residents. I feel that they are a well established community with a stable team of staff and adequate staffing. It is a small community and the staff know all of the residents by name, The staff are friendly and happy to do whatever my mom needs. They clean her apartment and bring her medications to her. The food is fairly good and they serve fresh fruit with breakfast.

The staff at the community are very caring and attentive to the residents. We chose Redbud Place because we liked the location and we really liked that is was a smaller community with less than 45 residents total. The only complaint we have is the food. The food is often served cold, there's poor menu selection, and there has been frequent chef turnover.

I have lived at Red Bud place for over 4 years and I am very pleased with my decision. The building is beautiful, the staff is great and my fellow residents are like family. The facility is pet friendly, which is very important to my cat and I! The activities are great! There is always something fun going on. If there is something you like to do, and it's not already on the calendar, just ask! And I love my apartment. The size and layout are perfect. Housekeeping and laundry are included and great. I highly recommend Red Bud Place in McKinney, TX.

I moved my Mother here with great expectations of her getting the help she needs on a daily basis that I wasn't able to provide myself. I haven't got many positives to say about the facility as I'm moving her elsewhere. One positive is the staff are friendly, but defiantly overworked and need more help to accommodate the people living here. All other aspects are lacking in one way or another. Let's start with the food. At first it was very good and looked presentable, as it should knowing the elderly that live here can't cook or leave to go eat if they want to. The wonderful chef finally had gotten worked to death, because help wasn't ever hired to assist her. She moved on and another so called chef was hired. Since then the food has been terrible. It's not presentable, usually served cold, very small portions and most evening meals are repeats. According to the menu, other options are available at each meal, but the chef does not like requests and tends to be very rude when asked for something other than what she cooked. My mother has had to buy food and keep in her room for meals due to this issue. The rooms only come with a small refrigerator and supposedly a microwave (we had to buy one), so food options are minimal. Staffing is huge in these types of facilities. Since my Mother moved in they haven't had or kept a housekeeper. I have had to buy all the cleaning supplies to keep her room clean. She has on more than one occasion ask for a vacuum cleaner to use herself, which they bring HER to use. Cleaning is included in the daily fee to live here, but that hasn't been consistent for the past 4 months. Laundry is another amenity included in the daily fee that is supposed to be taken care of once a week. I have had to call and ask more than once when her laundry will be taken care of. They also, offer to use individual laundry soap and fabric softener if provided since they wash each persons laundry separately. Well...they aren't washing each persons separately as we were told. She has gotten other people clothes and some of hers has gone missing. I have had to order her socks a couple of times because matches aren't returned. The fabric softener was used a couple of times, then she was told is was already used up. She started putting the fabric softener in a container only sending the amount needed for her load and it was returned with her clothes already washed, they didn't bother to use it. Her shirts are often returned folded poorly, so they are wrinkled beyond being able to be worn. She has a twin size comforter on her bed, she was told it was too big to fit into their machines. After a couple of months, I picked it up myself to have it washed. I am guessing the poor people living there doesn't get their bedding washed unless a family member picks it up? Gross! Needless to say, this didn't end up being the helpful experience I had expected for my Mother. Cleaning, cooking, taking her places was my ultimate goal as I still work and have small children. Having to constantly call or email the facility to get these needs taken care of is time consuming and exhausting. My Mother not being happy and having to figure that out daily is not ideal. If I had been able to provide all of this myself, I would have moved her in with me and not paid such a monthly fee. I think the director is nice, but doesn't know how to manage employees and hold them accountable to do the job they were hired to do. I know it's hard to keep employees, but it's imperative to make sure what you offer is what you are actually providing. Especially to people that have no other options besides what they are given while living here. If the elderly that live there could advocate for themselves, cook, clean, do laundry then they would be living in their own house or apartment for a fraction of the cost. I think people that aren't in this current situation tend to forget what it's like for others until they are in the same position. I truly hope for others sake that don't have family available or to advocate for them, this facility will improve and start providing what they offer.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
