I helped move my dad into here in August. All staff has been friendly and extremely helpful. He has been enjoying the activities, dinners, weekly cleaning, staff, other people who live there. I have heard no complaints from him at all. I would recommend this to retired people looking for a smaller apartment size because of the activities, weekly shopping trips and dinners.... Read more

Pleasant View Retirement home (PVRH) has been a welcoming and safe place for my elderly mother to live in for the past 2 years. We needed a place to house my mother while we sold her condo, in anticipation of moving her into an assisted living facility. It was supposed to be a very temporary stay, but my mother loved it so much that she did not want to leave! Although PVRH is considered independent living, it provided evening meals, games, entertainment, field trips, and rides to doctor appointments / pharmacy etc... PVRH provides a weekly trip to get groceries which was very helpful to our family and allowed my mother some independence. The staff were caring and were quick to respond to any question or concern. I would highly recommend this facility as a home for your loved one.

The building is beautiful but needs to be updated for safety, aesthetics, and structure. I'm embarrassed to bring my friends through the public spaces. The dining is promoted as "restaurant-style", but the menus are limited and decided by the administrative staff. The chef is good but has no budgetary say over anything but the food. The service is iffy so one can wait as long as 45 minutes for their entree to be served, and sometimes it's cold. The monthly Residents Meeting limits resident input and those running it have shut down resident input mid-sentence and chastised residents for actions the management doesn't like. It is not a give-and-take opportunity. There is no suggestion box. Staff are friendly, but make excuses for why some things go wrong rather than tell us what's being done to fix them. There's a lack of management direction and/or expertise. In short: it's been disappointing. The idea is great, it just needs an owner who care and staff with better know-how.

Pleasant View is a wonderful place, the people who live there are quite amazing. It is a warm community where there is lots to do. A place where people dress up for dinner, and the facility is always decorated, for every occasion. The building is beautiful but it is really the people that make it special! The people who live there and the people who work there! There are many trips to be part of and lots of fun and activities! Pleasant View really does a great job of taking care of people!

Pleasant View is a wonderful community. We have a Welcome Committee, that greets you when you move in. When you’re ready, there are 7 members that will host you at dinner throughout the first week you’re here. We introduce you to other residents, show you around and answer any questions you may have, as well as enjoy a delicious meal together. We have many activities you may join in. We go on field trips to museums, to restaurants and movies to name a few. No one will hassle you to join but, I can pretty much guarantee, you’ll want to. Come see what we’re all about you won’t be sorry you did.

I would like to tell you about our experience at Pleasant View Retirement Center. My parents moved back to NH from FL two & a half years ago due to dad's failing health. He wasn't very happy about the move as he really hated NH winters. Everyone at PVR was very welcoming. Mom & dad settled in & were soon busy with the many activities & outings offered. They raved about the dinners (in an elegant dining room) & the Thursday social, complete with cocktails. Dad even joined the Wii bowling team! They made many friendships with staff & other residents. Last Dec, dad's health declined rapidly & he passed away [date removed]. The staff at PVR were outstanding. They helped with a ZOOM call with dad's doctor during a snow storm, they helped set up (& take down) the Hospice equipment, cleared snow off our cars & much more. Mom has remained at PVR. Even though it's not Florida, everyone there makes it feel sunny & warm no matter what the thermometer says!

The staff at Pleasant View Retirement are so friendly. Someone is always there to greet you with a smile and to help answer any questions. The housekeeping is a plus. It's a beautiful, well kept building. My loved one's small apartment was spotless. The move in process was great, too. I don't know about meals yet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We had to wait a bit for move in availability, but someone always kept us informed.

Pleasant View Retirement (PVR) is an exceptional retirement center for independent living. The staff members go above and beyond to make sure the resident’s needs are met promptly, and with a smile, each and every day. The facility is beautiful and the environment is friendly. There are several comfortable gathering places both inside and outside the building where family members can visit with their loved ones. The dining room is elegant and the food is excellent. When looking for a comfortable independent retirement facility, I would strongly encourage you to visit PVR.

[name removed] is very happy there and it meets her needs perfectly! We love the proximity to family and friends. She is very pleased with the level of activity and the freedom to choose which she wants to participate in. The grounds are lovely and she spends much time sitting on the various balconies in the sun reading. She also loves the library on the grounds. And she has participated in a few of the outings.

My husband and I came here to live 7+ years ago. Here's a synopsis of what we found: 1. An historic building with each apartment unique unto itself. A gym, a pool, a library, large central areas such as dining room, living room, solarium, second and third central areas. 2. There have been changes over the years, such as in staff personnel, building and room repairs, (Covid year), but there has consistently been helpful, qualified, and caring staff. 3. Activities such as card games, excercise classes, Holiday celebrations, and concerts. In addition there have been trips to concerts, area attractions and day trips. 4. The feeling here is that we are a family. We know a lot about each other, our ways and idiosyncrasies, We get along surprisingly well.

A Place for Mom has scored Pleasant View Retirement 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
