It has been a great overall experience. The community is very clean and we loved the staff. They provide great quality care. The meals okay, need a bit more variety (ie seafood). Our loved ones didn't really participate -- loved the Thursday entertainment. As with any location the value was okay, still high for retired or have health issues. Based on this experience, we would recommend this community to other families.... Read more

Often they are understaffed, but the caregivers who are here are very compassionate. They offer a lot of great activities. Food could use improvement. Overall I am happy.

The overnight staff, my mom's nurses specifically were beyond incredible. The front office administrators, after she first moved in were awful. As far as the food, it just seemed like the quality was low and options extremely limited for those who keep kosher. And it was not the freshest.

Assisted Living is a challenging proposition, so I don't think any facility could be a 5 star, because the whole environment is so convoluted. In this way it's similar to school, hospital, and rehab environments. The staff was for the most part, very caring and empathetic!

He had a really good overall experience. What happened was he got out priced. He couldn't afford the next level of care they wanted for him so he had no choice but to move out of assisted living and back to independent. I would say everything was 5 except maybe the quality of care- he felt like for the amount they wanted him to pay the care was not comparable. overall he really liked it there. If a person moving in suspects they may decline in health and need more care really consider that they will quickly get charged much more.... so you may move in thinking you're getting a great deal but it may not last. It's best for people who are in fairly good health or at least pretty self sufficient

My friend was not treated well. My friend fell on the weekend and the staff had no bandages. Also, the bus was out of service frequently. The portion size of meals was small. There were planned activities on the board and no activity director would show up. When I dropped off my friend at night we had to type in a code # to open the door. We would try for over 10 minutes and the door wouldn't over till I made lots of noise and staff came to the door to open it.

I would definitely recommend the facility! It is very stressful to be placed in a position to make decisions for a loved one, especially a parent. It gave me peace of mind knowing my dad was safe and well cared for in a clean and attentive environment. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful! It was less than three minutes from my home. Caregivers were very patient and thoughtful to my dad's needs.

My 81 year old father has been living at the Oakey for a few months and so far he couldn’t be happier. First off it is a beautiful residence and feels almost like being at a resort. My dad has been participating in many of the activities they offer and is having so much fun. The staff at Oakey have been very accommodating and helpful and I am so appreciative. My dad also is very happy with the food and meals. Overall it has been a very positive experience and we highly recommend.

My loved one is a resident at Oakey Assisted Living. I'm glad that I chose this facility. Everything has been wonderful. Sometimes I keep waiting for it to turn into a horror movie because everything is so nice. My loved one and I both give the meals about a 4, on average. I would recommend this facility to others.

I was very pleased with the location, the facility was clean and the caregivers were thoughtful. I would recommend to others. My dad was ALWAYS opposed to going into assisted living but once there, he was actually enjoying himself. The caregivers were exceptional and I had peace the days they worked and other days caregivers were subpar.

I think that loved ones are very well taken care of at Oakey Assisted Living. The facility is always clean and well groomed. My loved one seems relatively happy here when I visit her. The staff, cleanliness, and friendliness are all great! The food and activities are great, as well.

I toured and did like Oakey Assisted Living. Locaiton wise, this was the closest facility to my house and would have been the easiest to get to. The apartments here were smaller and it just felt cramped and noisy. That was the main reason we did not choose this facility.
What stood out to us at this community are the friendly employees, they have all treated my mom so great. They provide weekly housekeeping to include laundry, change linens on bed. My mom is pleased with the service. They offer activities, my mom loves the live entertainment. They have accommodated her need for transportation to her appointments. I recommend others to come to Oakey Assisted Living.

For the price, the apartment is very spacious in comparison to the many other places I looked at. It's a nice place to live as long as you're 100% going to take care of yourself. Don't expect anything at all from the staff. Don't expect to get any of the medical care or things like that that you're paying for. They don't clean. The general areas were fine, but as for what they were supposed to do in the apartments, I would give them a 0. There are zero activities. But the staff are very nice about not doing anything.

This community is deceiving when you drive up to it. The outside looks like separate apartments and we thought our loved one would not be able to function due to isolation, but when you get inside it's designed to where all of the doors are inside and the residents are safe. We did not pick this community because a lot of the residents here did not speak to us or try to communicate. They seemed more advanced than my loved one.
I wanted a community that was smaller and not to overwhelming for my loved one. The tour was very good and they gave me all of the information that I needed it was just not the environment that I was looking for for my loved one.
All of you are nice
I love living here
I like living here
The value definitely got us through the door, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the community absolutely sealed the deal for us. We would recommend the Oakey Assisted Living community to other families.

A Place for Mom has scored Oakey Assisted Living 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
