My loved one is currently a resident at Myrtle Beach Manor and the overall experience has been good so far. The housekeeping is spotless. The staff is friendly. They have nice outdoor areas to take my loved one outside. They just completely renovated the entire building and did a great job. I'm mostly happy with them. My main complaint is with my loved one's hearing aids...putting them on her, charging them, not losing them. It's been a struggle.... Read more

If we could give the overall a experience a 0, we would. They did not follow our requests, did not keep good communication which resulted in my father getting discharged, always told us multiple stories made it difficult to understand what the truth was. They were in the process of repainting so there was paint smell and obviously wall patching and not fully painted. For the tech staff 0 for the office staff we would give them a 3.5. Very disappointing experience and my father and us the family were not treated very well

T he invoices I receive are very confusing. I have to go to someone to have them explained to me each month. I still do not see my $50 credit for late fees. I did not realize it would be an extra $[removed]/month to go from a double room to a single room. The only reason I made the change was because my husband couldn’t get any sleep at night with his roommate Too many personal items get lost/missing from his room

June 15, 2024Hello Miriam, thank you; we appreciate your feedback. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything additional we can do for you.
It felt like an old nursing home. It did not feel as progressive. It was not a cheery feeling.

March 9, 2023Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
Our family had an in person tour and it was a really nice experience but if we remember correctly they have a few different floors and we just did not want our loved one having to navigate the stairs.
We chose Myrtle Beach Manor because the price was fair compared to others and the location was very convenient to my home. They do have a sign up fee of [removed]. My husband got kicked out and the staff seemed like they were really concerned about me and my husband as well. They gave me my money back as well which I really appreciated and I got it back quickly. They have been there a long time - my husbands mother was actually here 30 years ago. They have a great chef and the food is good. I would recommend their memory care unit to others looking. I have 12 years experience with caregiving as well and have experience with many places. I have a former client here as well that I recommended and she loves it there.

Our family had an in person tour an the tour experience was absolutely fantastic. The gentlemen who manages the place [name removed] we remember to this day, he was so accommodating and just overall such a great guy. They are working on updating the community from a physical standpoint since it just is not as appealing to the eye.
Myrtle Beach Manor looked like a great facility. The staff were excellent and gave our family a really good tour. The reason we did not choose this facility was because once care increased our loved one would have to move rooms. We wanted her room to be personalized and for her to feel as comfortable as possible so we did not want her to eventually have to move once she needed more dementia care.
This community was wonderful. My loved one went here for rehabilitation. They kept me informed and always had daily updates. My loved one was great here.
This had a typical nursing home feel.
They do not want to take the time to care for the residents. The more needs a resident has the more they ignore them. If a complaint is made via phone, no one will ever call you back. Emails are unanswered as well. The ceilings in the rooms are falling down, all the showers are step in, the food is delivered cold to the room. dirty diapers are left laying in the bathroom. There is never anyone in the assisted living to answer the door which is left unlocked all the time. A person can walk in and out without meeting anyone on staff anywhere almost any time of day. They are extremely understaffed and the staff that is there just doesn't care. If you complain it is always the residents fault. Don't even bother to visit, there are too many improvements to be made to be worth your time.

Staff is just doesn't care. Told me my mother in law could be helped and needed nursing care at [fee removed] a month. Moved her to a different place. She is already standing on her own. Food is just bad. Rouches everywhere. Cleaning staff does the least possible work.

We were not the biggest fans of Myrtle Beach Manor. It is an older facility and needs some updates/TLC.
This facility seemed a lot cheaper than the other ones we looked at, but there were hidden costs that we were not aware of until we were about to move my loved one in here. The rooms at this facility seemed to be pretty small and with the location I did not feel it was safe for my loved one who has some memory problems.
If a patient can’t walk they should not be sent to this facility They are definitely understaffed n my husband became extremely depressed at The Manor. A lot of personal things n care he didn’t get and was not safe there One week he fell everyday out of his bed and wheelchair and I say no More about care We brought him Home totally depressed and today he is doing wonderful away from there He did a complete turnabout once he left there. I didn’t expect instant care but times a. Hour laid wet till he tried to get out of bed himself n would fall. A lot I can’t get into but if your loved one can’t walk go thur your insurance and get help at home I no am now very distasteful to their care. Please don’t put your loved ones that can’t walk into the hands that just don’t take personal care

This was a nice community, we did a virtual tour and like it but we needed someplace closer to home.
Response from Myrtle Beach Manor
July 20, 2021Thanks for taking the time to take a virtual tour and sharing your thoughts. We're glad you liked what you saw on-line, and invite you to come visit us in person. You may find that the distance melts away once you get a feel for the great "vibe" in our community. Please visit the website or give us a call to arrange for your personal tour. Hope to see you soon!
Get as much in writing as possible. Do not expect callbacks if you leave a message or send an email. I have yet to see the room, so I don't know the condition of things. I visited in the lobby today, and my loved one didn't have shoes on, just socks. I think management thinks their shit doesn't stink. They could do better. The working staff that I have met seem nice and caring. But overall, the communication is very poor here.

Please contact me at the community at your earliest convenience, and I hope we are able to talk soon.
Was so very disappointed and disgusted with this place for my friend. Not only did they lose all of his clothing, but threatened to put him in a shelter after he was admitted from the hospital to their facility with a massive stroke and other serious concerns. Please do not send a friend or loved one to this facility. Management and staff was awful. I never write reviews but this needs to be said. No one there cared about the patients who depended on them.

October 14, 2020Cheryl, I am the Executive Director and was sorry to read of your impression of our community as resident care and safety are our top priority. I can truly say that I absolutely love everyone at the Myrtle Beach Manor ! They are very thoughtful and caring staff. They without a doubt saved my fathers life. When all others said he would not survive they never gave up. My father went through his 3rd cancer surgery. He was taken to a rehab/nursing home in Maryland. The conditions were absolutely horrible. Worse then most jails in the country. My father developed Grandma seizures, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, was on a peg feeding tube. I was ask by two doctors at that facility if I wanted them to pull the plug. I knew right then and there I had to take him some where that people really cared. That place without a doubt was Myrtle Beach Manor. My father started showing improvements within a just a few days. Within a little more than a month after the loving care that he received from the entire staff ([names removed] just to name a few) he no longer has seizures, does not use any oxygen, diabetes is non existing, he is completely off the feeding tube, is eating REAL FOOD and is walking on his own.. It is if nothing ever happened. I know that it is because of the love and professional training that everyone there gave to my father, I am forever thankful to everyone in that entire staff. [name removed] and family

A Place for Mom has scored Myrtle Beach Manor 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
