I started working in 1946 when I was 10 years old. My mother got me a part time job on Saturdays delivering groceries. I kept that job until I was 18 It ultimately resulted in a full time job leaving no time for high school activities. I had to learn the grocery business and worked at it full time along with attending school. At the age of 18 I graduated and joined the Air Force in 1954. I decided to stay in. While in the Air Force I got married, had 2 children and began college. I completed college and after 27 years retired. I used the skills I learned on active duty to start my own business and ultimately retired from that at age 88. My wife and sister passed away in 2023. My children encouraged me to move closer to where they lived. I am now here to enjoy life at a more leisurely pace. I now enjoy the fruits of my labor sharing my life with my family and all my new friends here.... Read more

I am so thankful I moved to Mt Creek after my husband died. I knew no one here but quickly made friends. The staff through my 7 yrs here have become lasting friends as well. There are plenty of activities for social time for many interests. With 3 meals a day we are well nourished. Plus, no worries for home maintenance and extra expenses. As you can tell — I love my home and love to share my stress free life with others.

As I walked in I was greeted by friendly smiling faces. From the staff members to the residents and visitors were all wearing genuine smiles! I even asked what are they putting in the water & could I bottle it! I had lunch with my friend & it was delicious. Definitely a top notch retirement community to live in. The excitement of the day was contagious throughout my visit. You must come see for yourself!

They are very pleasant and the activities are great! The cafeteria is also above par. It's a bit pricey, but I think the entire housing market is expensive right now. We are pleased with our choice. The apartment sizes here are really good, they also have lots of selections based off of what you want/need. I would definitely recommend Mountain Creek to others. I should mention that all the residents were really excited about living there.

Our family had an in person tour with Mountain Creek Retirement Living and overall we thought the tour experience and the staff we spoke with were very nice
From the day we moved in, everything was very comfortable as far as navigating meals, activities, etc. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. And I mean everyone. Our only negative is the lack of the evening meal, but completely understand the circumstances.

Amenities promised at lease were either never allowed or reduced to the point where they were running on a skeleton crew and they closed the dining room permanently for dinner. They did that after I was there only 4 months and never opened it back up... and they blamed it on the government! Management acted unethically and unprofessionally throughout my entire time there. I got to know many residents at Mountain Creek who were complacent about how poorly the management company runs the place, but afraid they would be kicked out if they complained. Sure enough, they kicked me out like a piece of garbage after only 8 months with no reason given, refused to speak to me about it then tried to withhold money from my security deposit for rent that was already paid. As the property is owned by the City of Grand Prairie, I had to reach out to Mayor Jensen to get my full security deposit back.

Overall the community is very nice, they are always doing yard work and keeping the inside of the community cleaned and organized. A vast majority of the staff are extremely friendly. The quality of the food is really good, but due to the staffing shortages the kitchen staff is lacking. They are supposed to have three meals a day in the dining room and right now they are serving breakfast and lunch in Togo boxes and they will have dinner in Togo boxes that you can pick up for lunch. They have movie nights, and bingo.

It's nice and affordable. They provide 3 meals a day included in the rent. They provide activities but my loved one has not participated yet. During covid, he didn't like the meals as they were pre packaged in Styrofoam containers. He was not a fan of that. Now he can order the food from the grill and enjoys it better. This location has 3 floors. They provide transportation to the grocery store, a gym, etc. They do allow pets. Outside, there is a smoking section.

Everything has been a positive experience except for dealing with the accounting department. They are attentive but not thorough with handling finances. They have activities that are very group friendly and inviting.

My tour at Mountain Creek was okay. I thought the rooms were nice, but they had none available at the time I needed. I didn’t like that they did not have appliances in the rooms. There was just a common area dining room.
I feel like I have moved from the out house to the pent house, the Mountain Creek community is beautiful. The people are so friendly, the staff is phenomenal. They have amazing amenities, three great meals a day with options to choose from. They have a piano here which is perfect since i used to play people. I love my apartment, and the maid service and she even helps with my laundry and fold my clothes. The residents even wait in line waiting for me to play the piano. I feel very blessed, i cannot say anything bad about this place. I am happier then i have been in years, i just love it here.

[Name removed] and I moved to Mountain Creek Retirement Living in Grand Prairie from Waco Tx. on [date removed]; We have had 5 years 3 Months of great retirement living! We had shopped around almost a year before deciding on Mt. Creek, which our Daughter [name removed], found for us. There comes a time when one has to make a move for living the remainder of one's life in a pleasing, easy, independent and productive lifestyle. Mountain Creek Retirement Living was the place for us! We started a Bridge Club Group once a week, a 'Veterans meeting one a quarter. Mt. Creek has a Shuffle Board game which we participate in 3 times a week, with a tournament two times a week. There are other activities like Bible Study, Church Service's by the Residents. We have Entertainers come and perform several time a month! Our apartment are well maintained. The Resident has only to place an order for a maintenance problem and it is fixed promptly. Our food is quite good, my wife and I have no complaints. In the Evenings there's Wii Bowling; 42 Domino's; Texas Hold Em' plus table games and Bingo 3 times a week, and Movies on Friday night and Bunco twice a Month!! For those without cars, they make weekly "runs" to Wal-Mart, Kroger's as well Dr. appointments; eating out a couple time a month; and to various entertainment performances. Also 3 times a week to the Fitness Center the Summit. So you can see no one can say there's nothing to do or say "I'm bored!" Another plus we have a well stocked Library here at Mt. Creek. Last but not the least We have the Staff who always have a smile, and are always pleasant, and helping to make our place feel like home. Sincerely, [name removed] and [name removed]

Response from Mountain Creek Retirement Living
August 1, 2019We love hearing from our residents! Activities and resident organizations definitely keep things lively at Mountain Creek. So glad to hear that the two of you are enjoying your lifestyle with us!
As a rule I love to eat but the quality of food and preparation is really bad. The salad bar is not set up properly with sneeze screen and refrigeration. Very unhealthy.

A Place for Mom has scored Mountain Creek Retirement Living 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
