Morningside of Gastonia

The Facility is very clean and the staff are very friendly and caring. They have been very kind to my mom. I always feel very welcome when I visit my mom. They have great meals for the residents and the dining staff are wonderful.

Morningside has been a godsend for our family and our Mom. I feel like my Mom has excellent care and is very happy living here. Staff is all so friendly and helpful. They take a real interest in the residents and the family of the residents. Events are planned with the residents in mind. I feel as though I can be gone for a few days and I don’t have to worry about my Mom not being taken care of. My family is very thankful for this place.

The staff are always cordial and professional. It begins as soon as we enter, greeted by [name removed]. I'm grateful for the professional way she serves the families. Everyone at the front desk treats us like family. We appreciate seeing familiar faces when visiting.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to move mom to Morningside of Gastonia. In the beginning she would tell everyone that this is just temporary, but now she calls it home. She’s excited with all the activities they offer and her new friends help fill her days. Many thanks to the management team and staff.

The staff are wonderful but the price is high and the food is subpar compared to what it was last year. I think they take good care of her but honestly, the menus aren't the best for seniors with lots of medical issues. They serve, primarily, carbs which has caused mom to gain a lot of weight & not want to eat three meals per day as she & other residents should. The food has been my only complaint.

The staff does an excellent job of managing my wife who has severe dementia. They handle her with patience and dignity. The facility itself has a very nice layout. The room size is good. A very pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend Morningside of Gastonia to others looking, it was the best fit for our situation.

My father in law was not changed, he had 4 UTIs in which all went undiagnosed/treated for weeks. He had bedsores on his bottom without having proper treatment if I didn't go take care of him. I had to go every day to make sure he had clean clothes on and not soiled. The staff has a lot of potential- it's the executive director and managers that are hindering the employees. They have not had proper training for memory care. I had to report two of them, and they did nothing about the situation. 1 was on another resident. That's why we moved out. I truly feel bad for several staff members. They stay for insurance.

Although called a 5 Star Community, this facility is average. The biggest complaint we have is the food service. It is poor. The food is overcooked and frequently they are out of things on the menu. For the price the residents pay, the food should be at least as good as the local K&W. It's not even close. Residents have voiced concerns through the proper channels for at least 4 years and there is no improvement. Maintenance is subpar. Stairwells aren't swept, carpets aren't vacuumed adequately, bathroom floors are rarely mopped. The activities director is wonderful and many of the caregivers are compassionate. However, turnover is frequent and new staff have little training. With improved food service and maintenance this facility could be a wonderful asset to the city.

My father is doing well since his move to this community. I do feel he is safe, and in good hands. They have a good staff, and they are taking good care of him, and his needs. When I visit the community everything is nice, and clean. This community is working out pretty well for us, and I would recommend it.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Morningside of Gastonia seemed like a nice enough place, the staff was friendly and professional, but I noticed a few cleanliness issues. I could see a lot of spots on the carpets, it seemed like they had not been cleaned in quite a while.

Morningside of Gastonia has been so convenient for me. The staff here are very cooperative and helpful. My wife has only been here 6 weeks and so far we have been very impressed. If things continue as they have been we will be extremely happy.

My mother has been here for almost 3 years and is very happy. The staff is very attentive and patient. Mom raves about the food and loves the fact that she "orders from a menu." The staff is great about keeping me informed about any issues with Mom. Since her memory is so bad, I have to call them whenever I am going to come get her (she will either get dressed and wait for me for hours or forget altogether). They have her ready for me when I come. Mom will probably have to move to the Memory Care Unit soon, so they are integrating her into their activities, so she will feel comfortable with the staff and the residents when the time comes. They are very concerned with preserving her dignity.

We toured Morningside. I liked it. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I can't really say much about the value or the care, since it was just an initial tour.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. We saw quite a few, and this one really stood out to me, it was a nice place. Everyone here was very friendly, and the facility itself was clean and well kept. They also appeared to have a good amount of activities available for the residents.

Everything at Morningside of Gastonia has just been wonderful so far. I'd give them top marks across the board, they really do a great job! The people are friendly, the building is well kept and clean, and the food service is incredible! They're definitely worth a look!

This place was the second nicest. However their small room is 2600.00 and then the next larger one is 3500. their is also an assistance fee, but I think that is all. This place is a 30 minute drive from here.

This is a 5star facility. We have put a deposit down and we hope we will have mom in within the next 2 weeks! Thanks for all your help!

My mother and father both were at Morningside due to Alzheimer's , dementia, and medical problems. The Director, nurses, CNA's, dietary, PT, Hair dresser, the Ladies that painted Mom's nails, and Activity Coordinator were phenomenal! My Mom had to be placed on the secured Memory Care Unit and my father was on the Assisted Living side, close to that unit's door. My father could go in anytime and help my Mom and he could participate in activities and be social with the residents in Assisted Living. Morningside made the last days of my parent's lives comfortable and the compassion was beyond my expectations! Bless you all!
