Dad entered hospice care within a couple of weeks of going to Morning Star. He died two months later. But Morning Star was exactly the right place for him, and his last months were enjoyable with new friends and less loneliness. Dad didn't think the food was great. We supplemented a lot with food reserves in his room's refrigerator. My only slight complaint about care is that some of the aide's seemed oblivious to the state of his health. They kept trying to keep him walking and self-dressing when his strength was failing. They told him it was a matter of using it or losing it. He was there to die, for goodness' sake. And he knew it. He went from walking independently to using a walker to using a wheelchair in two months because his heart was failing. The good news is that the only day he spent in bed was the day he died. But we don't know how long he lay on the floor before he was found that morning. I'm not entirely sure the aides really understood the situation. Overall about as good of an experience that anyone could expect, given the circumstances of the situation. My criticisms were my only criticisms, the absolute only times we felt something was missing. It was a good experience for my dad, even though he understood that his time was short, that his life was ending. My dad told me several times that he wished he had gone into assistive care sooner, that he enjoyed making friends and having companions to spend his last days with.... Read more

My parents and I relly liked Morning Star Village. The tour guide was exceptional, she gave me good information and helped with any questions. It was a good experience, but we found another place that fit their needs a bit better.

The people we met at this community were nice. The community looked clean. This is not a fancy community, however they do offer some nice activities. This community had a waiting list when we looked at it.

The positives: Front desk is staffed during the day. The public areas were nice and comfortable. The dining room has expanded meal hours and extra choices. The staff seemed friendly and ample. 24 HR RN. The rooms here a bit smaller but clean and nice. More well suited activities. Outdoor space was ok. Smelled good. The Negatives: Public spaces were a bit smaller. Prices were a bit higher ... but the room price does include laudry service and room cleaning weekly.

Morning Star Village has been the most amazing thing that has ever happened to my mom. In the short time she has lived there, my siblings and I have watched her blossom into the person she was 20 years ago. Mom attends the many activities and outings Morning Star offers and the socialization she gets by being around other seniors has been extremely beneficial for her overall well-being. Morning Star's staff is second to none and we could not be happier with our decision to move mom to this community.

A Place for Mom has scored Morning Star Village 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
