Dad entered hospice care within a couple of weeks of going to Morning Star. He died two months later. But Morning Star was exactly the right place for him, and his last months were enjoyable with new friends and less loneliness. Dad didn't think the food was great. We supplemented a lot with food reserves in his room's refrigerator. My only slight complaint about care is that some of the aide's seemed oblivious to the state of his health. They kept trying to keep him walking and self-dressing when his strength was failing. They told him it was a matter of using it or losing it. He was there to die, for goodness' sake. And he knew it. He went from walking independently to using a walker to using a wheelchair in two months because his heart was failing. The good news is that the only day he spent in bed was the day he died. But we don't know how long he lay on the floor before he was found that morning. I'm not entirely sure the aides really understood the situation. Overall about as good of an experience that anyone could expect, given the circumstances of the situation. My criticisms were my only criticisms, the absolute only times we felt something was missing. It was a good experience for my dad, even though he understood that his time was short, that his life was ending. My dad told me several times that he wished he had gone into assistive care sooner, that he enjoyed making friends and having companions to spend his last days with.... Read more

My mother is a musician, in the early mid stages of dementia. Playing the piano is an essential part of her therapy to maintain the memory that she still has. It is so heartwarming to hear her tell us on the phone when different staff members have asked her to play the piano. "They tell me how uplifting it is to hear me play." We all want a place where our loved ones will be cared for. But Morning Star Village has been a place where mom feels loved. And that can make all the difference in the world. No, that does make all the difference in the world. Thank you, Morning Star Village.

Morning Star provides a safe, caring environment that includes all of the comforts of home combined with the care that she needs being in her [age removed]! There are always activities that she can participate in as well as field trips and transportation to her appointments. The social activities keep her active and provide her an avenue to interact with individuals. Being able to give her input on food service, activities, etc. gives her a sense of being involved in her "home".

My parents moved into Morning Star Village in 2018. 3 months later my dad passed away unexpectedly but my mom decided to stay, even though she was independent, because she had made new friends & loved being able to socialize & do activities! 4 years later she is still at Morning Star & thriving! She loves the food, the activities & the staff are amazing! Our family couldn't be happier with Morning Star Village!

I was met at the door by a smiling staff member eager to know what I was looking for by way of accommodations and why I thought this facility might meet my needs

The only complaint is staff not wearing masks, when they should and staff kissing on cheeks.

Very clean and friendly environment. Lots of fun activities. We order our full meals from a menu, this way we get what we want and how much we want. The make you feel at home here.
I came to MorningStar Village after I fell at home and was very weak; having difficulty eating because loss of appetite. I was determined to get better and gain strength. With the compassionate, caring care and assistance that I received from their staff, I recovered. I have made my wonderful lasting friendships with many residents and staff. The food is great. Everyone is so friendly and kind.
I feel very much at home here. The staff are all very kind and efficient. They do their jobs as if they enjoy everything that they do. This is a good home for me!
When my husband was in need of 24/7 care, we decided MSV was the PLACE! Advising [name removed] of our decisions, he commented "I always knew we would go there". MSV was our answer.
Overall seemed like a nice place, more nursing home type than the others is the feeling we got from our tour. Maybe was just that specific day.
We did a tour with this community and it was very nice. The tour was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions and gave us lots of information to consider. Our only issue was the community looked more institutional than we liked.
I was so impressed with Morning Star Village. My mom was there for 10 months. She had a wonderful experience. They are a very caring staff. Morning Star is locally owned. It was very neat and clean. They find out about each resident's personality and they place them with others that have similar interests. My mom was very happy there.

While looking into a few options for my love one, I found that this property is a little bit higher than the place I actually moved forward with. Also they didn’t have enough staffing for what she needs medically. However, my staff interaction with them was good. They are very helpful, just unfortunately was not a good fit.

A Place for Mom has scored Morning Star Village 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
