I've been very happy here. I couldn't ask for a better place. They couldn't clean any better than what they clean and they are so friendly.

There are many benefits of living here. Meals, cleaning of my apartment, socializing at activities (well-planned) nursing care, and yet having the ability to be quiet in my apartment when desired.

I love the people here, they are so kind. I love that if I need help I can always receive it. I enjoy the attention, but also the privacy of my room and the peace and quiet of being outside. I love that I can minister here and see the Lord at work.

Our experience can be best summed up with our May 2021 care conference when my brother asked if any staff could simply spend 5 minutes per day with our mom to counteract her perception that she does not get much attention. The reply was “No we are not staffed for that”. First, in supportive care, another resident came into my mom’s room and ransacked her dresser three times. Nothing was done and this upset our mom who has vision and hearing loss and a degenerated knee, making it hard for her to find her things. An outsourced CNA revealed to us that the staff had an unflattering nickname for our mom - so hurtful. We never got an apology. They are not certified for dementia care and if your relative develops dementia, the solution will be psychotropic meds and possible discharge. We were charged [amount removed] EXTRA for “one on one” care during the last month. The facility we next used had never seen such a high dose of psychotropic meds per body weight that our mom was given - EVER.

A Place for Mom has scored Fairhaven Christian Retirement 9.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
