My loved one was previously a resident at Barclay House of Baton Rouge and overall the experience was okay. The staff, with a few exceptions, were just okay. The manager was wonderful. The food and the value for cost were both okay. The activities were good.

Mom eats her own yogurt and breakfast. The lunch and supper is super cheap junk for the price paid .she eats very little. It should be a small fillet mignon with baked potato, spinach salad and soup!!

I highly recommend Magnolia Brook. My mom is 73 with newly diagnosed Alzheimer’s, she is young, vibrant, healthy, and very active. We had her a facility previously, which was not working well. We moved her to magnolia brook three months ago and we couldn’t be happier, it is a perfect fit. first of all, they are dedicated, assisted living and memory care only facility, no independent living. Which means their staff is all trained to take care of patients who need degrees of assistance. every employee at this facility goes above, and beyond to ensure the patients are taken care of. It starts with the Director of memory care who is wonderful, hands on, and always involved. and this wonderful attitude, trickles down to all of the other employees, including the activities, Director, aids, the CNA’s and the nurses. I feel that my mom is safe, being watched after, and in good hands. I can sleep well at night from out of state, knowing that someone is treating her almost as good as i would

My Uncle who is 88 has lived here for almost 3 years .He enjoys the staff , the entertainment, the socialization, the variety of food and snacks and so much more . The staff is friendly , outgoing and caring . I have no worries that he is being looked after . I have enjoyed the many family events that we can attend with him . The building is secure and safe . The environment is bright , clean and beautifully landscaped. I would highly recommend it as a place for your family who need senior living

Response from Magnolia Brook on Siegen
July 27, 2023Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us feedback. We appreciate you and your loved one trusting us to provide him with a great quality of life!
It was a tough decision to move our dad into memory care. It was the safest place for him as he is a widower and can not live on his own anymore due to health. Magnolia Brooks feels like home away from home. Everyone has been so supportive and treats dad like family. If there are concerns , they are top of things with a solution. The facility is clean and monitored day and night. I highly recommend it.

July 27, 2023Thanks so much for sharing your experience! We're very grateful and appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective with us! We are delighted to hear that you and your family are very happy with our community.
Our family had an in person tour with Magnolia Brook on Siegen and he community was very nice but it was significantly more expensive then the community we ended up picking for our loved one and they were completely full.

April 19, 2023Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to share with us your perspective. While I am disappointed to learn that your loved one won't be joining us, I am glad that you gave us an opportunity and I wish your loved one very well in their new community. Should something change in the future and you are open to reevaluating your initial decision again, we hope that you keep us in mind. Regards, Mike Champagne, Executive Director
Magnolia Brook is very nice, but I preferred the openness and all the windows and light at another community for my husband.
Response from Magnolia Brook on Siegen
February 24, 2023Thank you for your kind words. We put in hard work to keep our community nice and fresh and if things don't turn out the way you envisioned in the community that you initially selected, we hope that you keep us in mind should you decide to revisit retirement communities again.
The gentleman that is in charge is so nice as well as the gentlemen in charge on the memory care side. However, they are several short-staffed- at night there are only two staff members: a nurse and an aide to watch over all the residents on the memory care side. It is hard to have a lot of interaction with memory care residents in terms of activities, but they do bring in animals once a month and they take them out to the courtyard to sing songs and play music. We think with more staffing they will easily be able to make the proper improvements. the housekeeping could be improved also. However, the meals are terrible - the quality is bad and they get a lot of hot dogs and sandwiches.

February 10, 2023Hello, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your review. I couldn't be more pleased that I chose Magnolia Brook on Siegen. I checked out every facility in town before choosing this one. The staff is always sweet and helpful. And I feel, as does my husband, that they are close friends and relatives. They love to tease with him and it helps him maintain his sense of humor. I feel very comfortable and a sense of relief that I have this responsible staff helping my husband and loving him as well. The food can be a little bland (although I understand why). It would be nice if they had gumbos and jambalayas, which he loves! The cost for the facility is reasonable, however, I'm sorry it had to go up a little bit because a lot of the caretakers are on a fixed income. But overall I'm very pleased with my choice and highly recommend it to other families!

The turnover is sometimes high, people come and go a lot so it is hard to get to know the every day staff. That has been our only complaint. Other than that it has been a good experience and my mom is enjoying her time here. I would for sure recommend Magnolia Brook on Siegen to other families.

Magnolia Brook on Siegen was a very nice facility, but they didn't have any availability. Also, I really thought the price was kind of high for what they offered - it was the highest of all the places we looked at.
This was a larger community with lots of activities.
We had a good tour with Magnolia Brook on Siegen. The facility was bigger and brand new at the time we saw it. It seemed to be geared more towards the general population and had assisted living as well as memory care provided. It was located near our home, so we would have been happy with this facility if it came down to it.
This community was my loved ones favorite but there were a lot of things that did not line up. I could not get lined up with the nurse to take care of things that we needed to do. The fact that this could not be taken care of before my loved one was even there made me feel like they would be too busy once my loved one was there.
The light, the big open windows, the gardens and walking path we saw on our tour just really stood out to us. Everything was very well decorated and clean, and there are so many open areas that are very inviting

The place is beautiful, the facility itself is just incredible we liked everything about it and the people at the front desk are wonderful. However, they have been having serious staffing issues ever since our loved one moved in. The staffing issue is so bad that some residents will go without eating. The staff play favorites and the dining staff is terrible. There is a real lack of communication between the care team and the families regarding any updates with loved ones. Our loved one recently fell and slightly injured themselves, it took the staff an hour to get to them and they never called our family to let us know what had happened.
