Our Experience

My loved one was previously a resident at The Claiborne at Baton Rouge. The nurses were caring individuals. The food was adequate, the place was clean. Everything about the physical facility was pleasant and, as I chatted with folks in the common areas of the other part of the facility, they all seemed happy. The move in- and move out was efficient and professional. They knew it was stressful and did anything they could to smooth our path. I know the management has a good attitude and WANTS every person to receive the same treatment that they would want their own family members to receive. But sometimes, things are beyond their control. I will say, the last week before my loved one died, no hospital could have done better. I give them a 5 star for end-of-life care.... Read more

Very impressed by the facility.

My tour of The Claiborne was a very positive experience from the beginning. The facility was beautiful, having been recently refurbished. High ceilings, freshly repainted and very comfortable furnishings. The apartments offered many amenities, including a washer and dryer in each unit. While the food was good, it was the community of the facility actual is its best selling point. Everyone was so open and inviting, so happy being residents.

Your facility is the epitome of luxurious holistic and relaxing retirement life which was opened up to me on the excellent tour by your representative. This Mom is not ready to step into this lifestyle and has moved to Virginia. Thank you for following up with me.

Review for The Claiborne at Baton Rouge

The Claiborne is a beautiful but huge facility. It offers a lot for the independent. Residents have to be able to walk a good distance just to eat. We had to get her a scooter. It's also on the higher end cost.Claibornes assisted living is fine. You just have to find what fits the resident best.

A Great Place to Live!

I've been here a year now, and its a great place. I would recommend it. Everyone, from the top down to maid service, is very kind. Meals are good. I get to have my pup of 15 years with me. Its clean, smells good, and there is always something fun to do and places to go. Bus driver will take you to doctor appointments within 10 miles. Caring people. A home away from home.

Nice place, nice environment

She has complained about some workers, but other she really loves. When it comes to the meals, our loved one complains sometimes but we cannot say if those complaints are valid. Our loved one does not participate much in the activities. We have already recommend The Claiborne at Baton Rouge community to other families and we will continue to do so.

It was a brand new facility and a beautiful place. The rooms were nice. The staff was very, very nice. With my mom having dementia, I was just concerned about the size of the facility. I was afraid she would get lost.

They are under new management, so I think they are still working out the kinks. It is definitely a work in progress. It's nice and 'affordable' for me, but I think it will take some time for them to get re-staffed and back to normal.

Good place for loved one

This is a good place for your loved one. It has independent, assisted and memory care so it has the full range of any care that may be needed for your loved one. They have activities like bingo, trips, music concerts, bbqs and more for the residents to stay busy and active in the community.

tour review

Our family had an in person tour and this community has all the bells and whistles, it reminds us of the Ritz-Carlton hotel. It is super pretty on the outside and has all the current up to date things. The staff is highly trained in sales and it seemed like they were trying to meet a monthly goal and not being as personable if we would have preferred. However if you have the money and like living the "high life" this is definitely the place.

Life Is Good Here at The Blake

The staff were very friendly, the rooms are ample, and all utilities are provided. We don't have any complaints. The communication is good with the staff. It has been difficult during the pandemic to socialize with the residents. However, we are starting to get out an about more. They have lots of opportunities to get involved into activities here. There is transportation for residents that would like to use it.

Better before the Pandemic.

If the current Covid -19 continue I would say it is not worth the money. If they are able to do the things and services they were prior to the virus I would say, yes it is worth the cost. The food was better when it was served in the dining room. The room sizes are good and the layout of the community is good.

Very new facility, therefore the staff lacks experience. There is medical staff on-site. Due to the physical size of the facility, my mom would not be able to handle the independent living setting and would need to go straight to assisted living. Continuity of care from independent living, to assisted living, to memory care.
