We had a really nice tour experience with St. Gabriel, the facility is beautiful and I really liked it. It does feel more like a hotel and that is just not my moms style, but for some people I think it would be a great fit.
I am very very happy that they are taking care of my loved one well here. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff are very caring. Anytime I have any concerns or questions the staff are quick to respond. My loved one seems to enjoy the meals. I believe there are options for the residents to choose from for meals. Medication management, hygiene, and bathing assistance are some of the care the community offers.

We had an amazing expeinrece during our time here at St. Gabriel of Murrells Inlet. The director [name removed] along with the rest of the staff are all amazing and friendly and we were very grateful to have their help along the way. We would absolutely recommend this facility to other families looking.

The St. Gabriel community is a beautiful place, and even with the staff being short handed we do know they are trying their best and they are wonderful people. Due to them being short handed which is an understanding, there are still some promises that were made that have not been followed through with. Also the meals could be improved, that is a constant complaint for our loved one.

It was excellent. The admissions staff were so friendly and welcoming and understanding of the situation. I had to get my loved one admitted to the memory care unit, which was a very painful thing to do. But they made it so easy. And they took good care of her once she was there. Really the only room for improvement would be communication between the nursing staff and families.

Out of the places we toured, I loved this one the best. They have a suite floor that was going to be opening up soon, which we were interested in, but it wasn't available at the time. The person who showed us around was great. My loved one had a medical issue while we were touring, and I liked that they rushed right over and knew just what to do.
Our experience with St. Gabriel of Murrells Inlet has been great. My dad is very happy here.
We toured St. Garbiel and loved the facility. It just seemed like it would be better for assisted living rather than memory care which is what we were looking for.
Facility is friendly with staff getting to know Mom and family members. Very supportive of the moving in process and being flexible with getting Mom settled. Food is good with options for each meal. Weekly meal plans allow matching Mom's eating patterns. They were good with managing positive Covid test results and offered safe options for visitation. The primary trouble area is their service to transport the resident to medical appointments. There have been a few missed or late appointments due to limitations with that service.

I think this has the potential to be a really good place. Currently, there are some things I'm very upset with. They can't get dining service staff to stay on, and I think the management should step in and help at mealtimes. My loved one has often had to wait an hour to get her food. And getting drink refills is next to impossible. When she first moved in, they were supposed to have an exercise room. They had all this equipment in the room, and it was ready to be opened. But it was all the wrong equipment (not suitable for seniors). I understand they're having trouble getting machines. But they still don't have an exercise room now, months later. And that's affecting availability of physical therapy for the residents. My loved one hasn't had anybody to talk to due to Covid restrictions. And she's been really depressed and not doing well. Other than those things, it's a very nice, beautiful place. They have sliding barn doors, which is a great space saver, especially for residents in wheelchairs. That was one of the things that sold me on the community. My loved one likes the food okay, and they have options aside from the regular menu where you can get a sandwich pretty much whenever. They're supposed to have snacks available in the evening, but the times when I've checked it out, there were only a couple of things left and then just single serving cereal boxes down below. But the residents' rooms have a nice refrigerator and sink. If you want a microwave, you can bring one in. And that helps, having that little kitchen area. They have quite a bit of activities, which is good. They really do try. At bingo, you can win $1 tickets, and then periodically they'll bring in things from the dollar store to buy with the tickets, which is cool. They have a movie place, happy hours, a place to play card games, and a really nice back porch. They have nice Klondike rocking chairs on the porch, but my loved one can't get up when she uses them. They really worked with us on cost, which we appreciate. I like that they have call buttons that are worn around the residents' necks, and the staff makes it there in about 5 minutes usually. They will definitely take care of you here. And they're always really nice. The staff take the time to stop and talk to you in the hall, whether it's the care staff or housekeeping, and that makes a big difference. They'll stop and talk with the residents as well. There's a concierge in the front, and there's always somebody there, which is nice. But I'm disappointed that they don't allow kids on the property. Covid aside, that's their general policy. And it would mean a lot to the residents if their grandchildren and great-grandchildren could come and visit.

I have already recommended the community to others. The staff really care about the residents and this was the best decision I've made for my mom. Some of the activities available are games, bingo, education talks, church, beauty shop, shopping outings, and more for the residents to choose from.

Sometimes the cleanliness of the community is a 5 and other days its a 4, it just depends on the day and who is cleaning. The staff members are always friendly, and our loved one does seem really content with the meals and dining service so we have to assume they are good. However, the activities are more than limited, they are being advertised on a weekly calendar but they are not being done. We think they are really missing out on opportunities to get the residents involved. The assisted living side is getting more attention when it comes to the activities, but the memory care residents are just stuck on their side. We wish they would include the memory care residents in on activities on the assisted living side.

There were clean, spacious, updated rooms with huge bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a large walk-in closet. All-inclusive pricing was affordable. All the staff was so friendly. I would feel very comfortable leaving my aunt here!!

My mother has been at this facility for a little over a year. The staff such as the CNAs and maintenance are wonderful and caring. While I agree that the place is well maintained and very clean I have many concerns for a vulnerable senior that cannot advocate for themselves. Examples that we have encountered are: 1. Two falls that resulted in long response times. In one of the falls my mom remained on the floor w a fractured arm for over 35 mins with no response despite her call bell being activated. She called me at home to tell me that had fallen and needed help getting up. Second fall w no injury with lengthened response time because of an issue w a call bell system. 2. One incidence of the staff giving her another patients medicine because they threw hers away in error. My mom told them it was not her medication and called me. 3. During this COVID pandemic I personally noted a staff member wheeling a pt in the facility with no mask as well as the pt. When I called to discuss they tried to deny it but it was witnessed by another staff member. Once I called it to the persons attention they apologized. On sev occasions I note residents walking the facility w no mask. The response is that trying to get them to wear masks is very difficult. 4. Multiple communication issues w the staff that require me to follow up consistently. My mother was a DNR when she went into the facility which was discussed on arrival. I found out this past week that the paperwork was never signed. It took me several requests to get it done. 5. Long response for answering call bells and requests for pain meds. 6.my mother stated there is just not enough help when she needs it and food is a consistent complaint. 7. When my mom moved in they never disclosed they have a catered living rate that is 1000.00 less. My mom found out about it from other residents. When I requested the rate she was given the rate but I felt it was very underhanded not to discuss this or offer it at her entrance. I called the State and had a meeting with the facility sev months ago. Things change for a few weeks and go back to normal. I get tired of the inconsistency. My mom does not want to leave because of her friends. I can’t relax or feel comfortable she is taken care of. I have to follow up on practically everything.

My mom is in the memory care and I wish they would have more one-on-one activities. The community is very nice, the people are very responsive, they have good care. I think they are very responsible with the residents and great responses for the family. They are willing to accommodating visits through windows now due to COVID. If I call my mom and sometimes she forgets to charge her phone, they help my mom make a call to me.

My mother is very happy here. The staff is very responsive to the residents and the family. If there is anything I need to bring to my mother, they are happy to accommodate. They are all very friendly. They know all the residents personally and are very attentive to the needs of the residents. They are very respectful as well. They also make sure to get to know the residents personally. Normally, they do have actives available for the memory care residents that are specific to accommodating with difficulties relating to memory loss, but they would be willing to accommodate for whatever the resident's preferences are. The food is good and well balanced, my mother has never complained.
