When we were looking for places, I felt like they could see my mother as a person and not just as a bunch of health problems. I think they promise a lot, but once you are there, it is a little slow getting everything set-up.

There have been a few initial challenges with Laurelwood Senior Living . There were some things that were supposed to be set up that were not on time. The food is also very bland. It has been kind of hard on my father making the adjustment. The staff there are all just wonderful and they really go out of their way to help in any way they can. The place is also very immaculately clean, which was one of the first things that caught my attention. For a grumpy old 98 year old man, they are doing a good job taking care of him and though there have been a couple of bumps in the road everything has gone very well.

I really liked this community, the staff was very friendly, it was very clean. The residents seemed very happy and content. I really liked that when you first come in the doors, they have a lock that engages at a certain time, that requires you to use a code to leave or enter the building. They have themed activities, and even though I was there in the evening and didn't get to experience any of them or see any of them, just hearing about them was great to hear. They really try to keep their residents engaged. The thing I like most about this community is the fact that I felt that they actually listened to me and cared about the needs of my family. I didn't get the feeling that they were just trying to fill a bed and reach a quota. I plan to go and look at this community again and see if I can experience some of the things I missed. I was overall impressed.

I have really been impressed and happy with the way my family has been treated and welcomed to Laurelwood Senior Living. From the administration to the nurses and aides and cooks. Everyone has been extremely nice and helpful on matters dealing with my father. This was a very tough time for us and they made things more comforting and showed us they really cared for my fathers well being. I'm very lucky that A Place For Mom has helped me find a great place for my father.

Wonderful, informative, very well pleased, took me upstairs, took tour, room sizes were fine. Convenient location, I am a nurse, and there was no odor, nicely decorated. Social security was adequate to pay for everything as well, which was a plus.

So far they've done a great job here! We were very impressed by our tour, everyone from the staff to the residents were very friendly and stopped to say "Hello!". That continued even after we moved my loved one in, the staff has continued to be great to work with in general.

We have had a few situations with them, you pay a base rate and then you also pay a level of care, I've had issues where if he is sick for a few days they bump him up to the next level of care. The price seems to keep fluctuating with him - trying to keep that stabilized. They are being bought out by Holiday later on this month, so things might change. I do think they care, they all recognize us, all know my dad.

This was ok but Mom would have to share a room which she doesn't like.

We, as a family, toured Lamplight and liked it very much. I think it fits our needs. It was clean, and friendly. The drawback for us is no "kitchenette" in the room. I know they offer suites, but that was out of his price range. We are looking into veteran's benefits/pension to aid in overcoming this.

Mom and Dad are living here together in a suite. They are content but not happy. They cannot communicate well anymore and it is difficult to know how they really feel. However, they are safe and well taken care of.

A Place for Mom has scored Laurelwood Assisted Living 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
