Overall I was glad there was a place for [name removed] to spend her last year. Homestead of Lenexa was quite clean and the staff were quite friendly. There was one nurse who I noted a retaliatory behavior from; she put a type of underwear on [name removed] that kept all her feces in and it was full all over her abdomen when I came to visit. I changed her. I was told not to. This nurse was new and I suspect that she wouldn't have gotten by very long with the regular staff who cared about the roomers. The food was quite good. I believe my biggest complaint is that they made no effort to bring in musical events that were time period for the age group but expected them to be happy with 80s music. Ridiculous. It was quite expensive. I was present in two places with [name removed] and two with her daughter [name removed]. If all those places, Homestead of Lenexa was by far the best

The staff is always pleasant and they will do their best to be helpful. The food is my mom's big complaint. I'm sure it is difficult to serve hot food to so many people Yes, I would recommend Homestead of Lenexa for someone who is able to navigate and understand on their own it's a good place.

One of my loved one's main complaints is if you miss mealtimes, they're not very accommodating. There is food to eat, but if you're late by even a few minutes, you could miss out on a hot meal. She enjoys the activities she can participate in, but some aren't geared toward / inclusive of people who are differently abled. The staff are very responsive when I come to them with concerns or questions. And the facility always looks lovely.

I've been here about 6 months. It seemed ok at first then the wheels seemed to come off. At one point I didn't get my medications for 3 days. Believe me, I for sure need ALL of my meds every day. No apology at all. If you are sick and need to stay in your room, good luck getting fed. There isn't an RN on duty ever. An LPN is the head nurse and the rest might be CNA's. No transportation at all. You are on your own. The oven hasn't worked in 5 months. The ice machine broke and it took 2 weeks to get fixed. Super short handed. Everyone leaves for better paying jobs and better hours. Oh my! The food leave alot to be desired. One night our dinner was half a sandwich and a few Cheetos. Did I mention that the parent company is extremely cheap. All of the food comes in frozen. The hamburger steaks they serve are the same ones in a Banquet frozen dinner. People are basically wearhoused here. There is very little if any medical care. Medicine mistakes are a problem. I can catch them but most don

Not safe for dementia patients. Not enough qualified staff for addequate care. My LO doesn't get regular showers. Food is no better and maybe worse than an elemtary school.

We just love it here. The care is excellent, and they definitely go above and beyond. My loved one says the food is good. They are currently without an activities director right now but are looking for one. In the meantime, they're trying do a few things here and there as they're able to. I think it's a very good value, and we've been super happy. She was almost needing a nursing home, but they've been taking care of absolutely everything for her. We feel so lucky that they were able to make it work. The director, [name removed], and his staff are just amazing. When we suddenly had to find care after her being released from a rehab facility, the nurse at Homestead of Lenexa went above and beyond after hours to make it work. They're all so friendly and nice. I think that comes from Dell, who insists on a really clean place and a friendly staff. It truly starts at the top. They've all been wonderful, and we've not encountered any problems at all. Another thing I love is it's a smaller place where everyone knows everyone. The shape of it is a square, so with her memory issues, it's impossible for her to get lost. If she wanders, she'll always end up back at her room or at the lobby area or another familiar place. They also have a beautiful courtyard in the middle that's safe for them to use. It's just such a safe and easy place for her to get around, which was a key feature for us.

The guy who gave us the tour was extremely friendly. It just did not feel like the right fit for my loved one, it is a little run down. They do take Medicaid which is great, they were one of the only ones in the area that I could find who did.
We were not impressed with this community and it was not what we were looking for for our loved one. It just did not give off the right feeling.
We toured Homestead of Lenexa and it seemed more tired and run down than the others we looked at. The room we were shown was not very clean and the room they were going to give her was run down and they were not going to change the carpet or anything like that. We were looking at this facility in the first place due to the fact that they do accept medicaid.
My mother was moved here when Homestead of Leawood closed it's doors to remodel during Covid. Unfortunately we went from bad to worse. Save yourself a lot of frustration and don't put your loved one here. Missed showers, medication errors, verbal abuse from staff. My mom slipped out of her wheelchair partly because she didn't have a leg brace on and was sitting on a pillow because her cushion was lost. Nothing was done about her brace and the second fall sent her to the hospital. I am still trying to get them to put on her brace! They lie to you. No one cares. Especially not the upper management. It's sad, cruel and criminal.

Giving Homestead Assisted Living of Lenexa, 5 stars. A warm, small caring place. My mother was there for 2 1/2 years and received wonderful care. Excellent communication with the staff. The rooms are nice, residents are checked on several times a day, many activities, good meals. It is a place like home.

The place you pick should fit your needs. For my mom, this was exactly what she needed. It was time to move her from her independent living apartment where she was not able to be monitored for progressing memory issues. This smaller place (less than 40 residents, all on one level), with a variety of apartment options, was made for her. I cannot say enough good things about this place. She loves the sunny apartment that all her furniture fit into, which made her transition easier. Having a smaller population allows the staff to make frequent visits during the day and evening to check on them, encourage them to get out and socialize, take them on outings (she had a picnic at SM Park last month) and keep us informed of issues and changes noticed. Menus ARE posted as are activities and menus are printed out for residents and family. The nurses are great ...as are the aids, kitchen staff and front office. They have become family to us and her. There are family events to get everyone to know each other. Though you may shy away from the decor that is less modern than other places, it's clean and homey for the residents. If what is most important is your trust of the staff to give loving care for your parent, this is the place to be.

We moved my Grandmother to Homestead from another living facility about 2 years ago. Our experience with Homestead of Lenexa was fantastic, the entire staff was so loving and caring, everyone from the chef (Deborah) to the aids, nurses, and administrators were fantastic to my Grandmother. Homestead's facilities are not as new as the facility she was at prior but each and every day her experience and time spent at Homestead was far superior. My Grandmother was not the easiest resident for them but their staff was always excellent and patient with her and the love they showed her was beautiful. The administrators and nurse have repeatedly gone out of their way to help my family during hard times. I would recommend Homestead 100%!

My mother has been a resident at Homestead Assisted Living of Lenexa for 16 months, and I can't say enough good things about this facility. Warm and loving care is given to each resident every day by the highly qualified staff. My mother and all of our family are thankful that she resides comfortably in such a very special home.

Response from Homestead of Lenexa
October 10, 2019Thank you so much for your kind words, Gin!
We toured this community for care. We did not like the feeling of the rooms that were not what my father wanted. We did not like that we did not see a menu. They do offer activities for those who want to participate. We suggest that families tour the community for the care of a loved one

My mom had to leave for a brief stay in the hospital after being here only 2 weeks. So now she is resettling in and I think it is going to work out. The staff is very caring and friendly. It is a smaller community and they are able to quickly respond to her for any assistance she may need. I have had lunch with my mom on a few occasions and the food is very good. They will provide substitute choices if you don't like what is served. There are plenty of activities and the staff will come and knock on the doors of the residents to try and encourage them to participate. My mom and I recently attended a lemonade party get-together they had organized. I feel very satisfied that mom is being well cared for here at Homestead of Lenexa.

Overall our experience with Homestead of Lenexa has been a good one! It's a nice looking facility, they keep everything looking clean and well kept, and the staff have all been very friendly. From what I've seen they do a great job getting to know each of the residents, learning their likes and dislikes, so that they can make everyone feel comfortable and at home.
