Holden Southcenter Assisted Living and Memory Care

My parent's moved to Merrill Gardens Tukwila back in February 2024. They were dealing with some memory issues and needed some assistance with medications, checks at night, etc. They absolutely love their new apartment with views onto the Green River. They walk the trail along the river daily, which is only steps outside the community door. They love the food, staff, other residents, events, etc. Everyone is so kind and caring. The general manager, Shane, is amazing and my parent's adore him! All the nursing staff led by [name removed] are wonderful too! Very happy!

My 87 year-old mom has lived at Merrill Gardens at Tukwila (formerly Holden Southcenter) for 18 months, and it truly is a wonderful place. This review might sound a bit over-the-top with praise, but my platitudes are genuine. As you can see from the photos, the facility itself is gorgeous -- like a luxury hotel (that's actually how I describe it to friends). My mom's apartment is absolutely perfect for her: spacious, light-filled, modern, and functional. Nothing about it says "assisted living." My mom is quite independent and only utilizes the medication management service, which is very reasonably priced, but if she ever needs additional assistive care, we know it's available from well-trained and caring staff members. Speaking of the staff, the folks who work at Merrill Gardens Tukwila treat the residents like family, and that's not an exaggeration. They are absolute angels. It's all about the leadership. Shane runs the place and he is so full of love for everyone, residents, staff and families. It's rare to fine someone this gentle, caring, and thoughtful. That transcends your all the staff, who work hard, sometimes to exhaustion, to help one another and the residents. I've never seen or heard an unkind or thoughtless word or deed. I can only hope to find such a place when it's my time to choose.

Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed shortly after we moved him into the community, so our overall experience was somewhat limited. That said, it seemed like a great place. The staff was awesome, especially under difficult circumstances. I wish he had had more time there

Staff are personable, pleasant, welcoming, and know the residents by name making it a very caring environment.. Facility common areas are clean, comfortable, inviting and neatly kept, as well as are the residents rooms. There is No conveniently located public transportation for half a mile to a mile away as indicated in the amenities. There's a variety in choices of meals, which are well prepared and served; and the dining area is appealing. The laundry room for residents to do their personal laundry id unkempt; laudry is left in the dryers and washer way after they have cycled complte. Magnets with room numbers are to be used to identify who the loads belong to, yet they serve no purpose because they're not being used.

The attention from staff to residents and time keeping of medication or other treatment is extremely lacking so is alertness to pushing the help button. Other then that, everyone from the top down absolutely amazing and made you feel like you were apart of there family. I would choose Holden again if ever needed because of the staff is absolutely amazing.

Restaurant style dining and surprising how well dining staff know and care about residents, the feeling of family overall, the openness and welcoming upon entering, the different variety of activities, and genuine feeling of care majority of care staff gives my husband. I know he has improved so much, I feel he is safe, encouraged and welcome in the community.

The facility is top notch, very modern clean, almost like walking into a 5 star hotel. I was greeted with smiles and helpful personnel. Seemed very professional and have not had any issues. My father in law has been moved to hospice which they provide. Very clean and organized, being I'm in another state and have only been there probably 10 time's the staff seemed very nice and most importantly attentive to the patient.

We picked this community because of the newness of the building, the food, the DIVERSE residents , the staff, the calender of events and the beautiful apts. (Spacious)

This place was very convenient as my company is just down the street and other things are also convenient. We are extremely happy with Holden.

We were very impressed with Holden's attention to detail. The room layouts, shower design, and alert buttons all seemed designed for maximum safety and comfort.

We moved two sisters in together 6 months ago. The staff has been very accommodating helping them adjust to their new living conditions. The ladies like the meals and activities. The staff has also been very good at watching over them and suggesting changes in the care plans.

We have had a great experience at Holden Southcenter Assisted Living and Memory Care. The staff have been wonderful to work with. My loved ones enjoy living in the community, and the staff are quick to respond to any questions the family has. Overall, this is a community I would recommend to others for their loved ones. The food is delicious and there are many food options. The Management Team truly cares about the residents, you can feel and see the kindness they have for all the residents. It really is special to witness this!

They've been great and we are so pleased with the care, the customer service and the facility! The only thing I'd question is the "value for the money" question. I'll spare you my rant about the exorbitant cost of LTC for the elderly by saying that [removed] in comparison to the others seems like a better deal both affordably (for us) and in peace of mind!

We love the amount of care our loved one is receiving at Holden Southcenter. The staff members there are incredible and the community overall is just awesome and we would highly recommend them to all families. Right when you walk into this community everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You have your own key to get through everything. The community is just better all around from our loved ones previous community. The food looks awesome. We have no complaints whatsoever. Everything about Holden Southcenter is just great.

My loved one is in memory care. We chose Holden Southcenter because of the price (it is all inclusive) and also they staff just seemed so much more caring. I liked when I heard them say "We think of them as our family" and that is what sold me. They pretty much have lived up to that too. We have had a couple of issues but they have always been resolved. A lot of the employees go above and beyond their roles and they have been incredible. They are very caring and they problem solve. They actually listen and work the problems out. I would absolutely recommend them to other families looking.
