I had already heard good things about Garden Plaza from a friend whose mother lived there and the process has been very smooth getting my loved one settled there. The ambassador program really helped her get acclimated and feel welcomed and she can be social or alone and both are fine. The housekeeping services are amazing and no complaints about the food. We are both very happy with our decision to move to Garden Plaza.... Read more

Staff and residents are very friendly and engaging. As far as the food goes, they need more variety and better choices for the residents to pick from.

Response from Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville
May 9, 2024Thank you for sharing your positive experience.
It's probably the least expensive place in the area, but definitely needs work. The transportation isn't always dependable. You have to be at the dining room as soon as they open 11:30 and 4:30 because they will run out of food. The Sunday buffet really isn't geared for people with IBS or other food issues. The apartments are a nice size. Housekeeping seems to keep the apartment clean. The laundry service for towels and sheets is great. Turnover of staff and the vacant positions is probably the same for many places.

March 28, 2024Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about your experience with us.
I think they are all tops. I can't participate in all activities because l have cervical/spinal stenosis which makes me have weak legs. So l can't participate in all activities! You are free to choose what you want. You can share a problem if you have one. No big complaints.

Response from Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville
January 5, 2024We are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience!
Overall the experience has been positive. The facility is clean, but showing its age. I think it needs some updating. The staff is extremely friendly! From the front desk staff to dining room, etc. Everyone is great. The executive director seems to be in a rough place trying to make people happy with limited resources. I've been told the dining staff is slim because several people have quit. The family member is in independent living so he is not receiving care. Few servers as mentioned. Dining times are 4:30-5:30 and 5:30-6:30. Was told most people eat at 4:30 because they run out of food. Not sure the validity of that. Complaints that the Sunday brunch (the only meal served on Sunday) doesn't offer a good variety of food or food to the liking of many of the residents. Activities- there appears to be quite a few things going on throughout the day. Day/shopping trips had been few for awhile because of shortages in available drivers. Don't know the current status of that. Value - it was the least expensive place I visited, but a good value. Not a lot of bells and whistles but we weren't looking for those since we didn't think he'd be able to participate any way. His apartment is nice, it gets cleaned weekly with sheets and towels laundered. Meals are good, people are nice. It's smaller than some places but that's what we wanted. Occupancy is down and that could be because there are so many newer places around that look more modern.

Response from Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville
April 25, 2023Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if there is anything more we can do.
We have been very happy with Garden Plaza, the staff members get 10 stars across the board. On the day of move in the staff and residents were phenomenal, they were all so welcoming and even offered to help us move in. Our loved one transitioned much easier then what we thought and it surprised us. She has not done a lot of the activities yet but she is getting out and meeting knew friends, and enjoys the day trips. She loves the meals and dining and so have we. When you go to eat its like eating in a fine dining restaurant, they sit you at a table and serve you food off a nice menu. This community is head and shoulders about other communities - it is more expensive but its more upscale and its like walking into the Ritz-Carlton.

The staff were very helpful with making me feel comfortable about my loved one living there. The facility and amenities are good, and the cost is very competitive compared with other locations. The staff were not very familiar with my loved ones disabilities and that was a challenge communicating with them in the beginning. They seemed eager to make them feel welcome and I am pleased with the progress since they moved in 2 months ago.

This was a beautiful community, and it made you feel like you were in a town. This was more than we wanted to spend monthly. They had an indoor pool withy family access to activities.
All of the staff here have been nothing but amazing. The meals and dinning are having some issues, it was a five at first but now it is a three they are doing some work and trying to get things back together after having some problems. I think that out of all the communities that we saw this one was one of the best in the area. It is a great place to move into and do not hesitate. Also once we got signed up and finished the papers the sales people disappeared and I think that they should hang around, I just felt kind of lost with no transition after signing on just be proactive during this transition period.

Garden Plaza is an amazing place for senior independent living. [name removed] our Executive Director , is a real gentleman who cares about the residents and their opinions. New chef, [name removed], is doing great things to improve our dining experience. Transportation to doctors, shopping is so well coordinated. The company lies about serving gourmet meals and is barely serving residents any food at all. They want you to pay out of pocket for another entire meal to equal a normal adult serving since the regional director [name removed] enforced the new kitchen rules. We are being forced to order from restaurants for a decent meal since July this year. The kitchen now runs out of food before everyone is fed and this is with corporate approval! Three wonderful chefs have resigned because they refused to treat paying residents this way. I was even served a hamburger that was totally burned and unrecognizable with cheese, lettuce and onions! This company is a total farce and you do not want to live here!

My 93 dad has lived here for almost 2 years independently. It is a beautiful facility. However when my Father fell last week and was hospitalized, I was told he cannot come back with 24/7 supervision. He was thrown out with no place to go and no notice. He spent 6 days as an indigent in a hospital before securing a room at an assisted living facility. The director, [name removed], offered no assistance.

The Garden Plaza was very expensive. The community was very big, we were looking for something much smaller and more homelike. The place was clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly.

The facilities, activities, level of care and personnel are exceeding all of the family's expectations for a independent care facility. We would highly recommend Garden Plaza for not only the resident but for the family.
