The family at the time was really welcoming, knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. It made the transition for my mom less anxious. The rooms are clean, great size and new appliances. The facility is clean and they have gotten better with the smell in the lobby which at time was very strong with a pee smell. When we signed up part of amenities was weekly transportation but that has not occurred since she moved in 2 months ago. There has also been staff changes including the director and no one returns calls except if you call to pay the rent. Overall, it serves my mom’s needs for the relative low cost compared to other communities.

Super friendly staff (you just may have to stay on them to remember to send you things!). We would definitely recommend this facility to others.

When I have been there, the staff is friendly and helpful and I'm on first name basis with house keeper. My loved one tells stories about the food and the weekend staffing, but I'm not sure how much is true or just her perception.

I am currently a resident at Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf and everything has been very good for me here at this facility so far. The staff is great. The cleanliness and friendliness are very good. The food portions could be larger. Also, the vegetables are over cooked for me. Overall, I like it here. I would recommend Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf to others.

My family and loved one haven't had the best experience with Ashton Manor Sugarloaf. The food quality could be improved. The community doesn't appear to be very organized. The staff could be more caring towards our loved one and the other residents in the community. We would recommend you review the community and ask lots of questions, prior to selecting any community.

These are some of the improvements that could be made - - Have better and more flavorful food. Make sure tenants know what their food choices are. What happened to afternoon snacks? I thought there were drinks available all the time. - Have outings. We were told upon signing that there were outings by bus. This does not mean Walmart. - Have someone man the front desk, and the telephone for the front desk 24/7 .

This is a good value for the money, but the staff has changed several times in three months. They are on their third administrator, cook, and more for staffing. I do realize staffing is an issue everywhere currently. though There is only one elevator for the entire building, and it only allows for motorized wheelchairs, and not scooters. If your loved one has trouble walking, then they would need to stay on the first floor, or be able to exit the stairwell if there was a fire. The staff communication with the residents could be better. The meals aren't consistent, since the community is having trouble keeping a cook. Some of the meals recently have been better than what has been offered in the past. I'm unsure if it is just the cook, or if there is a team to assist with making the meals though.

Response from Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf
December 13, 2022Thank you for taking the time for your input. You are correct about recent changes. We have worked to find the right team and feel we have achieved it. In fact, a former operational leader has come back to the community to serve as ED. Our team is solid. I hope you'll notice the new changes inside and outside of the community.
I did not really like the set-up of the facility. The inside was not very inspiring and the lighting was a little dim. It did seem to be a lower cost but did not seem to be a good fit for my loved one.

Response from Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf
December 13, 2022THIS RIGHT HERE! Thank you for sharing! There's no better review than that of a family member or resident. Thanks for taking the time to add your review.
Some of the staff members are excellent and some of them can be pretty rude at times. The meals were very very good but they have gone downhill some after they lost there chef - they have hired on a new one and she is learning the ropes but is a little heavy handed with the salt. They just came out of a lockdown but during that time the house keeping had stopped so the normal cleaning routines started to lack

My loved one doesn't care for the food. They feel the portions aren't big enough, and there isn't much variety. On Easter Sunday they had a choice of tomato soup or a grilled cheese sandwich. This was surprising to my loved one. There have been select times that the community has served salmon. Breakfast has been the best meal. My loved one says that the breakfast is served early and ends early as well. There is a calendar of different activities available in the community for the residents to participate in. The staff and other residents are friendly. If you're looking for meals, I wouldn't get to excited about the meals as they are not sufficient.

Response from Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf
December 13, 2022Pardon our delay in responding. This was hard to read but know that we have addressed it. Know also that extras and asking for more is always okay. I was on site two weeks ago and ate 3 meals myself and was very happy with the pork, slow roasted chicken, potatoes, cherry cobbler and more. I hope you have seen an improvement. Our lines are always open to find out how to improve. Thank you
I love the community. The staff and meals are very good. I like everything the community has to offer. The staff are okay to work with if the family has questions or concerns. The meals are very good. I enjoy what they have to serve. There is no staff overnight, in case the residents need something. The community provides the residents a pendant to wear in case they need assistance. Shopping trips, games, bingo, celebrations, and more are some of the activities the community offers the residents. The apartment, utilities, laundry, housekeeping, and all the meals are included in the monthly fee. The bus is only available for the activities offered by the community. If a resident needs to go to the doctor they must find their own transportation such as a taxi.

Response from Ashton Manor at Sugarloaf
December 13, 2022This made our day! Thank you!!
our family had an in person tour and we would not put a family member here it was not a good first experience at all. The building itself on the outside was beautiful, but the inside was so old. The rooms we were shown on our tour smelled of mold.
