Very happy despite being transferred to memory care at higher cost 3 days after move-in. The fact that the facility is both a standard ALF as well as a memory care unit enabled excellence to meet our needs for longer term. BTW due to lack of funds [name removed] is moving to [facility name removed] under Medicaid on Monday. No knock on excellence for that.... Read more

We have used this facility twice. A week each stay. The facility seems to be clean, but there is an odor in some areas. The staff is very disorganized. I don’t like the way the medications are kept (loosely in a drawer). The person at the main desk doesn’t greet you when you enter or smile. If I didn’t ask questions, no one would tell me anything about my loved one. The telephone in the room was not hooked up to anything, yet they said we could call her room. We will not use this place again.

The care of the patient isn't great in the Memory Care. He doesn't get a shower. His clothes gets mixed up with other patients. Items go missing from his room. The food portion for him are very small. He has lost a lot of weight since he has been in there. My husband isn't as bad as a lot of the patients there. He says that some of those young girls who take care of them., Can be a little gruff, and some of them have some filthy mouths. I have never witnessed it when I've been there. When I first but my husband there, I would get three or four different answers for one thing. It was very confusing and it wasn't an easy transition. I always feel like when I call the Director of nursing that I'm a bother. There is a young man that works in the memory care unit, and I think his name is [name removed]. He is the happiest, sweetest person I have ever met, and I love the way he interacts with my husband.

*This review is a factual account based on my personal experience and recollection, and may or may not be representative of your own experience* I was fooled by the saccharine sweet welcome received on the facility tour - once we settled in the reality was much more insidious. In my opinion, the executive director, [name removed], is unprofessional and biased. The director and a majority of her staff also seem to have an interesting and complicated relationship with the truth. Concerns about their dubious policies and practices are met with contempt. Despite housekeeping being included in the rent, some rooms are often dusty and covered in hair and grime, and the halls smell of urine and cheap air freshener. Resident bathrooms frequently lack toilet paper, requiring repeated requests for basic supplies.

No issues except that someone that has a key to her room has taken some items. I am in the process of notifying the director Otherwise they are very caring for my mother. She likes it there

They are unorganized, probably understaffed. We have been trying to get a doctor appointment scheduled for weeks, it is still not scheduled. My mom likes the food. She feels safe here. Most everyone is friendly.

The facility is well kept and they allow web based cameras in the rooms. Staff has always treated my loved one well. They are staffed well at all times. Some issues with promptness getting maintenance issues addressed.

Overall it was fine. We had a hiccup with his medications that should not have happened. The head nurse was careless by omitting a crucial medication. I sent her the list of meds twice via email and also handed her a paper copy. She had me contact the Dr to send his list of meds even though she already had it. She never apologized or returned my calls. The rest of the staff was great.

Excellence Senior Living Thank you so much for all you do!! The staff and everyone are awesome! They have made our Mom, her Husband and Us feel like family! We find it hard to express how you matter to our family. The love and care you provide for our loved ones is done with the grace of angels. We feel so very comforted to put our loved ones lives in your hands. From the very beginning we felt the homey atmosphere, the decoration touches, the cleanliness and security for the residents and their staff. We want you to realize that what you do is so very, very important to our family! Each and everyone of you have touched our lives. We were blessed to find our way to your place, the one we will like to call Home. (after visiting 9 other facilities in the Orlando area) Our family would like to offer our sincere thanks for the care of our Mom and her husband. Your team makes this possible. Every person we worked with, is caring and responsive. 100% Satisfaction!!!!

If anyone asks me about the experience at excellent Senior Living I would tell them I wouldn't put a family member in there from what I experienced it's not excellent it's not even mediocre. The reason we chose excellence in your living, because it was close and my mom had heard about it from some church members they said it was nice that's why we chose it.

We cannot comment on the activities because my mother did not participate in any activities. My Mother was at the facility for respite care. I can take her there for a minimum of 7 days instead of the usual 30 days that other facilities require. Would you recommend this community to other families

I didn't see a lot of residents talking and socializing. My dad came for respite care for a week. We scheduled to arrive at 9am. It was not communicated to the staff when we would arrive. I spent 4 hours waiting for him to be admitted. Tv and telephone weren't hooked up so I had to wait. They promised a buddy system and someone would show him around. I ended up taking him to lunch and finding a table with 2 men who said he could seat with him. I ended up going back at supper to make sure he was ok. He likes bingo but no one brought him to the activity. He was close to 94 yrs old and no one seemed to give him much attention. I visited another center that seemed to have resident and staff socialize more. When I brought him home he cried and said he was glad to be home. So for now I am the one still taking care of everything. They need a better buddy system and more help welcoming new residents.

We toured Excellence Senior Living and had a great tour experience. We did not choose this facility because it seemed more institutional feeling. It just did not feel like the right place for my loved one.
They were open to our needs, and very accomodating. They were very cordial and attentive They did to their jobs and we appreciated it. I would recommend to other families.

This was a very good community. I went with another community because it was closer and easy access to get to my father. Location was the only difference that made me go with another community.
We finally got her to go and she is here and doing well and still adjusting. She likes her room and says that it is very clean and she likes the staff as well. We really have not had any problems with them other than a hair incident in the beginning and I would recommend to others who are looking.

People in Florida aren't wearing masks at this time, and Excellence is closing things down every week or so due to new Covid cases. Currently only one visitor can come in at a time, and they require a negative Covid test to come in. When we asked, they said only about 25% of their employees are vaccinated. But the people there are very nice, and very helpful to our loved one. They're experiencing a lack of staff, but that's the case everywhere right now. The food isn't great, but our loved one is happy with the little refrigerator and coffee maker in her room, and she's happy with people bringing in groceries for her. During the time she moved in, I feel like a lot of people were moving in after delaying the process due to Covid, which was somewhat chaotic. But I think they're trying to do their best.
I was very pleased with Excellence Senior Living. It had everything I was looking for - a smaller community with a homey feel. But they couldn't accommodate my loved one's level of care.
This place is a newer bulling, about 4-5 years old. It's a lot cleaner than the other places we first looked at. The staff are really very friendly. We've switched doctors to their doctor, and he's worked out great with the medications and everything. So we're satisfied with that. Every time our loved one has an issue, they touch base with us. And if she's been exaggerating something, we figure that out pretty quickly because it tends to be the same sorts of things. I'd definitely recommend this community to others.

A Place for Mom has scored Excellence Senior Living 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
