This place is a nightmare and truly hell on earth. The staff is severely undertrained, if trained at all, and management is a mess. My dad was a resident from [date removed]. His 1st night here the evening staff didn't give him his medication. He went looking for his room & wandered into the wrong room. The RMA on duty called us at 3 am to bring his medicine. She was hostile when we arrived & called my dad a "sexual predator." I brought this to management's attention ([name removed] and [name removed]). They did nothing and the RMA that verbally assaulted him remained employed. Our nightmare culminated in April when staff members left him on the cold, hard floor naked for 9 hours. We saw on the camera, the staff open the door, see him on the floor (he called out for his wife), and then close the door. He was subsequently hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis for 3 days & never recovered. He passed away a few weeks later. A resident was recently hit in the face with a laptop by a staff member too.

The communication is deplorable. During the hospital stay no one from White Oaks reached out to me and only did on [date removed] after sending me an email about repair work on their phone lines and I inquired as to how my mom was doing? I sent a text message on Friday to the Dir. Of Operations requesting her email address @ 9:00 a.m.. I received no response. I sent a second one @ 11.35 a.m. addressing the no response. Finally, I received a response stating she had appointments. It only takes 3 minutes to answer a text. I requested a copy of the discharge papers on [date removed] no response. On my mom’s discharge [date removed], the Administrator did not want to let me in for a compassionate visit. I had to make a call to gain entry. I observed & took photos of my mom’s personal hygiene items, which have been barely utilized in a year 4 big tubes of toothpaste, 4 big bottles of lotion, 3 deodorant, 6 shampoo & conditioner, face cream. These items are full and should have been exhausted over a year.

Part 1 of 3 Please don’t consider White Oaks of Williamsburg for your loved one. My mom has resided in the community since May 2019. It is hard to move someone with Alzhemeir’s and now practically non responsive thanks to the care she has received @ White Oaks. In the time she has resided there, there has been 4 different high profile management staff. This speaks volumes to the manage of the community. A management rep has repeatedly communicated falsehood to me. For example, she relayed to me that it was recommended by hospice that my mom consume Ensure. I expressed to you my displeasure at receiving a call at 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday to talk about Ensure when in essence the call could have been made after noon or on monday. After communicating with the hospice nurse a couple of days later, I learned that the DON made the suggestion for Ensure. I was perplexed at the statement from the hospice nurse that she did not recommend the Ensure.

I wrote a review 5 days ago. On Friday, June 14th, when I arrived @ White Oaks the day after I wrote the review, I observed some disturbing issues. My mom’s white clothes are bring washed with the colored clothes, an eaten apple wrapped in toilet paper under the bed, her top sheet put on the bed upside down (the decorative part should have been @ the top, a soiled Depends on top of the back toilet bowl, dishes in the bathroom on the sink, a pillow missing on her bed. Today, (Monday 6/17), when I returned to White Oaks, the pillow is still missing. I requested on numerous occasions for them to keep her wardrobe locked @ all times. Upon arriving on Friday (/14), the wardrobe was unlocked and I observed that my mom had removed a considerable amount of her clothes off of the hangers and they were all balled up on the shelf. I removed them asked why does she have access to the wardrobe then I left them on the floor. On Monday (6/17) when I returned, the clothes had been removed but they were not in the closet. In essence, you have to definitely be an advocate for your “Loved one” as they cannot communicate their needs. I have communicated my observations to the Administrator and I have had the opportunity to state my observations to some of the staff. White Oaks needs more stimulating & engaging activities for the residents. Overall, White Oaks is a very clean, quiet place. The rooms are nice and I like that they have their own bathrooms. This is my review that I wrote on Wednesday (6/12/19). I decided on White Oaks Memory Care community in Williamsburg, VA for my mom exactly one month ago (May 2019) originally for respite. Prior to thee expiration of her respite, I received a telephone call expressing how happy and well adjusted my mom was @ White Oaks and that she had communicated her desire to stay there. I obliged. As with any new community, there are going to be a few hiccups as it is a learning curve for the staff and the new resident.I find the staff to be very approachable, attentive when you have a discussion with them about your observations. The staff has great interaction with the residents. It is a very clean community. The residents seem to have a good experience there. My mom has adjusted well in the community and participates in activities with the other residents. The Marketing Director is very well versed about the community and is also attentive and engaging with the residents and the needs of resident's families. All of the staff seems to interact very well with the residents. Hopefully, this will be my mom's new home for a long, long time.

we toured this small community. We did not like that it did not have the atmosphere that we were looking for. We liked the staff who were able to answer the questions. We liked the list of the menu and the activities that are offered. The community seemed to be maintained. We would suggest that families tour the community for the care of a loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored English Meadows Williamsburg Campus 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
