The facility was very nice. Mom had a living area, kitchen/eating area, bedroom, and a large bathroom. There was a lovely courtyard with chairs and tables for use in nice weather. There was a nice room in the facility that we could reserve to host events with Mom and her family - like a birthday party or Thanksgiving dinner. There was onsite PT and an onsite hair salon which was very convenient.

Moved in [date removed]. Everything great at first. Then, we noticed things: medication not given correctly, few activities except daily happy hour, staff turnover was an epidemic! 6 complaint-related investigations of this facility by VA Dept of Social Services in 2 years. Most recent was from what ultimately led to my father-in-law's death. Supposed to be monitored nightly (per Dr’s orders) for CPAP compliance. Went to bed around 9 PM. The investigation revealed that the facility could only prove that they checked 14 out of 25 days. The [date removed]day he left the facility permanently. He had fallen the night before and couldn't get up. When found the next morning, he was already in organ failure from being on the floor all night (still in street clothes, not pajamas). He had fallen prior to going to bed and no one checked on him all night. 9 days later he passed. So far, no one has told us of any corrections. [removed]

Very sad Journey for my loved one and me. Medications not always given on time, or missed altogether. Residents are not taken to the bathroom enough. I was promised stimulating activities for my loved one in memory, like daily baking, yet very little activities ever happen. Day after day memory residents just sit and do a lot of nothing but watch tv as their main source of interaction. What's written on the daily activities board is not what always happens. Some staff are very kind, while other staffers can be rude to residents and their families. One staff CNA often yells at memory care residents constantly to sit down. It is a loud environment, not peaceful for memory care residents. Workers rarely engage the residents or talk to them. Memory residents are not allowed to access the AL dining area,, even if accompanied by family. Cameras are allowed, but staff continuously keeps moving the camera. The food is okay, some days very good others days average.

My mom is normally up and out of her room when I go. They give her regular showers and change her regularly. Always healthy snacks between meals. She did have one UTI since she's been there and ended up in ICU that is why I gave quality of care a 3.

September 3, 2024Thank you for sharing your feedback about your mother’s experience at Edgeworth Park at New Town. We strive to provide the best level of care and attention to our residents and we’re sorry to hear about the UTI incident. We truly appreciate your feedback and will use that in our ongoing improvements. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns or suggestions.
My mother's experience at Edgeworth Park at New Town was terrible. In December 2021, as my sister and I did not live in the area and needed a short-term (one month) place for our mother before moving her to North Carolina, we trusted Edgeworth Park at New Town to provide her with safe care and paid for full support in a one-bedroom unit. When we came to pick her up, we were told she had become incontinent and probably had a urinary, so we should take her to the emergency room. Beyond being surprised that the facility had not taken the initiative to have her checked by a doctor, we were horrified to discover she had spent the entire month sleeping on the couch, as the bed was too high for her to climb in unassisted. As a result, her legs were seriously swollen and covered with sores, and she was no longer able to walk. The only comment from the person who was responsible for daily care was that she (the "care" giver) hadn't been at work for several days. We immediately took our mother to the emergency room and mov

It was a sad experience visiting this memory care unit. There were no activities for the residents to do. It didn't appear they had a activity director. The residents seemed to sit around idle and watch TV for all day for their recreation. I only saw two CNAS in the memory care unit assisting with the residents needs. I saw several residents needing assistance with cutting up their food but no one assisted. My search will continue. I would not recommend this facility. I left very sad and melancholy.

Very poor care. Always short staffed. Unknowledgeable administration regarding the safety and laws regarding an elderly population. Medications are not given on time or missed altogether. Lack of daily activities and outings. Please do your research and visit this facility (unannounced) prior to moving your loved one here. We are moving our loved one to another facility. I don't feel my family member is safe here anymore. I fear the lack of staff will continue to create a very unsafe environment for the residents.

It is an unsafe place to send a relative and the president of the company recommends removing residents if relatives think they are not safe. Picked it based on a recommendation prior to when it changed owners.

Over charging w/threats to send to collections when you loved one has been a resident less than 45 days. Upcharging meals that are given in small styrofoam container. Lack of staff Medicines not available due to poor re-ordering that has occurred several times. Extremely rude argumentative admin. Employees. Promise to work with needs for resident during contract signing and then renege. Lots of issues!!!! Most imp. Activity and much time involved is giving wine out to residents nearly daily. Priorities are odd.

The move-in was easy. I was under serious time constraints having to move my dad from a skilled nursing facility in Roanoke (paid for by Medicare) to an assisted living facility in Williamsburg. Edgeworth worked with me, sped up the process, and made my dad comfortable right away. My dad's rapidly deteriorating condition made it impossible for him to enjoy activities and crafts, but he was able for two weeks to walk to the dining room for meals. He enjoyed the music provided by a man in the dining room. I would recommend Edgeworth to anyone.

January 10, 2024We would like to thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your recommendation! We're grateful to have had the opportunity to support you and your dad during this transition. And it warms our hearts to hear that, despite his health challenges, he was able to enjoy meals and the music in the dining room. Thank you once again for the recommendation, it truly means a lot to us.
We picked this communtiy, because it was the only place we looked at in Williamsburg but also it had a nice local feel. I'd recommend. Good, thorough, staff willing to take time to answer our questions.

July 3, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave a great review! Our team works hard to provide great service and a pleasant atmosphere, and we are pleased to see that reflected during your visit. We truly appreciate your recommendation.
This facility looks great but provides substandard care in the memory care area. This assessment is based upon previous experience with residential memory care. Residents spend the majority of their time in front of a tv. Average staff turnover is every 2 weeks without notification. Most caregiving staff are indifferent to the individual needs of the residents and are often hostile to family members who ask questions. They have no Memory Care Director and no medical personnel on-site overnight to assess any medical issue that may arise. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I am planning to move my family member as soon as a vacancy comes available at another facility.

My relative started out in assisted living. They did very well enjoyed the residents and the autonomy. They didn't have a lot of things to do but he enjoyed the events they sponsored like picnics and holiday party s. When moved into memory it was awful. Nothing to do. The folks sit idle and stare at each other Just waiting to die. The laundry rarely gets done. They only have one food option. Most lose a lot of weight. New management doesn't care. The corporation that took over ignores our concerns. We're on a wait list to move somewhere else. Don't be fooled by the appearance. Rotten apples look good on the outside too.

October 26, 2022Hi Susan, we truly appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback! Our team is committed to providing excellent care, and we are very proud of the team we have built. Thank you for trusting us to take care of your family.
They have a very friendly, competent staff and management. My husband really needs assistance, and he does get it. They're always very nice and cheerful about it as well. It's a very clean facility. They have just gone through a change in ownership, although management is staying the same. So we'll see how things go in the future.

Our family is having a good experience so far, the community is kept very clean and the staff are super friendly. We have eaten quite a few meals there and we think its great, but sometimes our loved one says its just okay. There are plenty of activities going on, when we have visited we have seen ice cream socials, and even tie-dying parties. We also think the value if fairly reasonable.

I love Edgeworth Park, my 94 year old mom became a resident iin Novemberof 2020. She has a lovely apartment that overlooks a pond. She loves the food , Brags about how clean the facility is. And enjoys her walks outside on the patio area on nice days. Mom loves. The new friends she has made and enjoys the time she spends in the music room playing the piano. I call her often to check in on her and she told me she had participated in a pampering day where she had her nails and a facial done. Best of all mom loves the staff . She told me that no one ever says a mean thing and that they truely care for their residents. She gets such qaulity care there. the staff goes out and of their way to make sure moms needs are met with kindness, love and respect. They even make sure the families are connected. I would highly recommend this facility.
