Communication was the biggest issue for me with the memory care. I spoke with more than a couple of areas of the administration, staff & care services and they all said they would communicate with the family about my loved ones needs & care plan but they didn't. The units come unfurnished. You bring your own furniture & mini fridge if you want one. It can be hard to move your stuff in & out. They didn't clean as much or as well as they said they did. Some of the staff not very friendly or caring. Meals did not look very appetizing. Lunches were a lot of lunch meat sandwiches. Inefficient management of medications. There were a lot of things that added up to a bad experience with this facility. If I could give a zero or less than zero I would.

I did not like at all and it just seemed to be like an apartment and this was not what we were looking for as a place for my loved one. My loved one needed more assistance and a community that would be able to help with more. I felt rushed to make a choice for a community for my loved one.
When you are first checking into the community the staff is very friendly and communication is very good. Once you move in this all stops. I would not recommend this community to others based on my experience.

I moved my mother out of East Park after three years there, she had bruises all over her body and sores on her butt and feet that East Park said was healed the week we left..., they lied. I moved her to another Nursing home and she was covered in bruises. She had been dehydrated also. My mother had dementia, and East Park helped make her combative with too many drugs and untrained staff. Staff that did not know how to deal with Dementia at all. I warn you, beware. Save your loved one, don't go near that evil place.

Well, my mother has a list of complaints. starting with the refridgerator was broken, and a hole in the inside of the door. She is concerned about the in unit furnace, she says it is very noisy and may have a problem. She has told them several times about it and has had no resolution. She is in need of a toilet that is higher off the ground. She has a very hard time getting off of it. Agian she has told them about it and no solution.

Hi [name removed], I thought the apartment was okay but on the small side. The unit she showed me smelled heavily of stale cigarette smoke or something. The toilet needed to be cleaned as there was a black ring around the top of the water line in the toilet bowl. This one, I would put at the bottom of my list to think about later.

Overall, East Park is a nice place. There have been some maintenance issues that have yet to be fixed like the sliding door in my loved one's room has not been fixed since she moved in, and it's the same with the hot water. Otherwise, things are good. The staff is responsive and helpful, and they are working on getting her a walker with a seat on it to help her be more mobile.

A Place for Mom has scored East Park Retirement Community 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
