December 30, 2021Thank you Louise. You bring a smile to all of our faces at Desert View and we are so happy you chose us. The past few months we have seen you go from a social butterfly to a shining star and a huge asset to the community.
It is not worth the value, everything they told us they could handle, and do was a lie. They never followed through with any of their promises. It was a nightmare in itself and the administrator is extremely rude.

December 30, 2021Thank you for your input. I am sorry you didn't have the best experience. I would like to speak with to get more defined input that I can pass along to all of the Directors to help improve any communication or care issues that would elevate our programs in the future.
The facility is fine and the value for cost is fine, but we did have some challenges. We wish there was someone there to tell us what the expectations are regarding family members going into memory care and the different processes and levels of care with dementia residents. Also another big problem we had that led to our loved one having a fairly big medical challenge, so their juice they serve. They serve this juice almost similar to Gatorade instead of water and it has a very high level of sodium in it. The residents get water but usually if they only get it themselves, and we wish they would push for more water and less juice.

December 2, 2021Thank you for you valued input. Transitioning from independent or assisted care to potential memory care is one of the most difficult phases in senior living. Going through this personally with a parent is very stressful even for someone who is in the healthcare field who has been around it for over 12 years. It is very difficult to prepare family members for their loved ones potential new environment. Although we do our best, because of the different diagnosis's involved and different levels of memory care needs all in the same environment. it can be challenging for every community on a daily basis. One issue that many MC units face is dehydration. Even though we follow a recommended hydration program, it's very challenging to get a resident to drink water frequently. We can't force them to drink. We do find that flavored drinks such as name brand electrolytes help but they do have a higher amount of sodium that is pointed out. Diabetics are limited for example to sugar free but the challenge again is getting the resident to drink and stay hydrated regularly. It is something we are looking to improve on through professional nutritionists. For anyone who may face a similar transition, I would recommend visiting Alzheimers.org. This was an eye opener and will help us by identifying an area we can improve our hydration program. Thank you for your first hand insight. We always strive to be the best and this will help us continue and improve the care families expect.
Place has been awesome!!! Most of the staff really seems to care about the residents!

I recently needed some help getting my 77 year old father a retired US Navy veteran into assisted living. I was directed to Desert View Senior living. I spoke with [name removed] Wolf who did an amazing job at getting my father all the VA paperwork needed to assist with the expenses. Thank you all for all the amazing work you do for our retired service members!

August 5, 2021Thank you Gerry. As we promised when you first visited us, we respect the job all military families do for their country by honoring them and doing whatever it takes to make sure they have a home and care with dignity including applying for VA resources. VA is our specialty here and we appreciated the opportunity when given a chance to help a veteran., veteran widow, service family or first responder family.
We thought the people weer very friendly and nice. Our loved one looked at a couple other places and we liked this one much better. We thought the layout was nice and the rooms were nicer.
Understand that this is not a nursing home, so there is not round the clock medical care. Because of that, the cost is actually more reasonable. I feel it's been an excellent value, and I like that they offer a military rate for veterans. They do have doctors on call if your loved one needs something like a medication refill. There's a variety of other residents, both men and women, in different levels of care. The memory care unit is clean, friendly, and everybody seemed to be happy there. In the several months my loved one has been there, there has not been any turnover in personnel as far as I can tell. And I think that's significant and a good indication that there's nothing going wrong there. They staff have been very helpful to me in every case. They communicate with me very well. I provide some supplies for my loved one, and they're good at communicating to me when she needs something and also being patient if it takes it me a day or two to bring it by. For visits, they have what they call the Coca Cola Room with a 1950s soda fountain design where you can visit the memory care patients if the weather outside isn't favorable. I think the activities are really good. My loved one is very energetic, so they have her doing all kinds of things. Of course there's some things she can't do. They have television and lots of games. They actually have her doing some cleaning because she really likes to clean. As far as I know, they're doing a good job meeting her needs and requirements as far as activities go. For an entire 11-month period they had zero cases of Covid, which I thought was pretty impressive. They did have one case recently, but they quarantined instantly and took the proper procedures to contain it. And now everybody has all their shots, which is good.

July 19, 2021Thank you for the very detailed insight that I'm sure will help other families. I get so humbled when reading these reviews and appreciate every one of them as it reflects the commitment, values, and passionate environment we have at Desert View.
We chose Desert View because the facility fit all of my brothers needs perfectly. It was very clean and we were impressed with the staff members, The room sizes here are very nice and not on top of each other. He shares a room and they have plenty of space. The staff know every resident by name and they know what their specific needs are. I would tell others to make sure to physically go in so that you can really appreciate what is being offered here. I would highly recommend to others who are looking and already have.

May 11, 2021I know the feeling. When visitors tour our community we hear things like" it just feels homey", or "the residents look happy", and "we should have visited your community first". There's always people mingling about and active. It's the first impressions people get that defines the community. The amazing caregivers many who have been here over 15 years are truly the ones who should be recognized for creating this wonderful care environment and culture of the building. Thank you Lynn.
Nice place . Very knowledgeable people.

May 7, 2021Thank You. Desert View has that European feel where everybody is always happy and active. We are privileged to be able to provide the answers to questions from families who are just learning about assisted living so they can make an educated decision with all the information they need.
We chose Desert View because my father liked the veteran aspect to it. My brother is on the front line since he lives closer and I am out of state but I think the communication has been good. Overall it has been a good experience so far and I would recommend them.

We chose Desert View because it was recommended to us and they had availability quickly when we needed it. Before I put my mother there when we were moving stuff in, I was able to meet a lot of the residents there and speak with them about their experience. They sold it better than anybody else so I would encourage others to do that as well. I would recommend them to others who are looking.

May 11, 2021So true. The residents are the best! Happy residents are the best word of mouth for families who have reservations about Senior Living with all of the horror stories they've heard about other communities. It's another reason why Desert View is a top 1% community for senior living in America. Thanks Gilbert.
I recently explored the area for an assisted living facility in which to place my husband. I found Desert View to be a very inviting place.. The management and staff were most helpful and always ready to provide help and information. Unfortunately my husband passed away before he was able to become a resident. If you are looking for a place that makes you feel "at home", please check Desert View. I believe you will be impressed.

February 10, 2021Thank You for your kind words that captures our philosophy of families come first. When families come to us, we know their loved ones don't want to leave their homes to live in a new environment. It's more stressful however, for the Spouse, Sibling, or Adult Children to make that transition. We as a team, in every interaction with them strive to take that feeling of guilt that they carry and try to turn it into a positive that everything will be okay. All residents adapt and as soon as they do, the family understand that they have a team they can trust and they can once again become the wife, the daughter, the son and not carry the burden of being the caregiver. There is a saying that the most loving act you can do for a loved one is to get them the care they deserve. They shouldn't feel guilty for thinking a loved one will get the care they can't provide. Thank you again for the opportunity to allow Desert View care for your husband.
The staff members at this community are exceptional. On the assisted living side our loved one had a condo like room. Our loved one moved over to the memory care side before COVID, and we were able to visit a few times and it seems nice. The staff seems to encourage our loved one to still remain active, and we would recommend this community to others.

December 28, 2020Thank You John. I remember when we joined your journey. I'm very heart warmed by this review. It's so difficult to watch our parents transition into a different world that we can't understand. I experienced guilt, denial, and every emotion I'm sure you've gone through as well. We recognized dad loves his music, loves to dance, and his transition with your understanding and support made a difference in how he has adapted. We can't wait for 2020 to go away so families can once again be able to be with their loved ones.
We chose Desert View because it suited her personality more than other places that we looked into. This was a more comfortable and homey environment. She was in a bedroom split in half and it was perfect for her. I have not eaten here but she thought the food was not prepared on site.I found the receptionist, the activities director, and cleaning services to be excellent. I would absolutely recommend it. The entire time COVID was going on, they did not have a single case.

December 9, 2020Thank you for your input and thoughts. With COVID protocol the all day dining unfortunately is temporarily closed making way for room service in its place. I can tell you that 90% of all meals are prepared onsite with the exception of fresh vegetables at times due to market conditions. When COVID FINALLY LIFTS AND LIFE GOES BACK TO NORMAL., YOUR MEAL WITH MOM IS ON ME!! You must try the food. It's really really good as my weight gain will attest.
My father lived at Desert View Senior Living for a year prior to his passing from cancer in Sept 2020. He really enjoyed his room with a view, his friends, the entertainment options, weekly shopping trips (prior to covid), and I appreciated the great care he received. Other residents seemed happy and content and people on staff were always friendly and ready to help. Staff would call me if they had any concerns such as Dad not showing up for meals or complaining of pain. When his time came, I asked Dad if he wanted to move to a hospice facility and he said no, he wanted to stay. As Desert View partners with Comfort Hospice, arrangements were easy to make. Prior to choosing Desert View, I toured five other facilities. Desert View also offers memory care and I appreciated that as other facilities would not take Dad as he had dementia although he was in the early stages. Desert View worked for my family and I highly recommend the facility!

October 16, 2020A s an War Veteran, he was something very special to us as we believe in doing whatever we can do for our Heroes. He was very special. Very special...all the caregivers grew fond of his kindness and big heart for others. He was always worrying about others first and always put himself second when it came to dining, care, and anything of concern. His comments were "Don't worry about me, help them first". The stories we shared will always be in my mind. Thank you sooo much for placing him in our hearts. HE WAS A TRUE AMERICAN WAR HERO.
Does not accept dogs. 2 month waiting list. They offer spouse of vets discount. [name removed] was very helpful in suggesting other facilities, and providing his opinion. Rating it a 5 star because [name removed] was so helpful.

October 10, 2020Thank you soo much! I wish we could have helped you even more. We do accept family pets in Assisted Living, but Memory Care, which is currently accepting wait list residents at the time of this response, allows dogs visitors. Dogs and children are always welcome and steal the show with so much attention. I hope that we were able to help you find the perfect place.
A company that leads by their core values and provides life changing services for their residents is a community worth your trust. I hope you take the time to meet their team, especially if your loved one is a Veteran or the spouse of a Veteran.

October 2, 2020Thank you for your partnership! Very well said!
Impressed with the information presented, & the flexibility in scheduling when an emergency had me having to cancel the original appointment last minute. Many outstanding considerations on this one, from the simplicity of the pricing, their very successful management of COVID-related protocols, smooth transitioning from Assisted Living to Memory Care, to the proximity of their facility to our homes. Definitely a top contender as we weigh our options.
