When my Aunt and Uncle both needed help with dementia and assisted living at the same time, no one would help. Doctors, hospitals etc. I was at my wits end. Then I punched in A place for Mom and within 10 minutes got a call from chestnut knoll and they handled everything for me from paperwork, transportation and getting them settled. I give the place a 10 for administration, nurses, aides for making the move easy and taking a lot of responsibility off my shoulders. This place is a 10 all around and I've been thru a lot of places that were bad. The place is clean with plenty of activities, staff are excellent with care. You need help you just ask .Both of my relatives love it there and they say how nice everybody treats them. They never ask to go back home which should tell you alot. Again I give the place, staff a big 10 excellent !! .... Read more
A purposefully designed community for seniors, Chestnut Knoll offers both personal care and memory care. The homey environment affords residents the opportunity to tend to plants in the raised gardening beds and enjoy games and activities in the country kitchen. This community, managed by Heritage Senior Living, offers a proactive approach to health through the FOX Optimal Living Program. Physical therapists engage residents in exercise classes and preventive measures, as well as rehabilitation and therapy.
The community’s memory care neighborhood follows Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care and promotes engaging activities, socialization, and independence. This secure area features beautifully decorated murals and life stations. Chestnut Knoll also offers support for family members through educational and support groups affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association.
Chestnut Knoll is ideally located in a quiet residential neighborhood, near the Boyertown Community Library. Shopping, dining, and parks surround the area. My mother was in memory care at Chestnut Knoll. From my first phone call and meeting to the days after my mother passed and we left CK, we had nothing but exceptional care. Everyone is truly caring, professional and engaged. [name removed] is by far the best director for memory care. We had prior experiences of care for my mom and none were of the level Chestnut Knoll provided. They consider you and your loved one as family and they become family to you. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or people to care for my mom in her final year.

The categories 4-7 would probably get higher ratings but our loved one was only there for 26 hours.

I hope i give an honest accurate assessment of Chestnut Knoll. These are the things, i believe, that are Chestnut's strong positives : 1) the aides who give assistance to Mom (Mom has never complained about anyone!) 2) the quiet atmosphere in the rooms & hallways (2nd floor/the 300's) 3) quick responses after activating the help button (Mom wears) 4) Mom enjoys most of the foods provided 5) excellent & friendly assistance provided on the transport bus :) 6) Mom tells us she enjoys the quiet atmosphere in her room, the foods, the people ( both employees & other residents ), the activities, friendships w/ residents, aides, etc., 7) enjoyable outdoor area behind the dining room 8) Mom loves that her room's window looks out into the outdoor (porch) area. And she enjoys watching the trees's branches move on breezy days :) 9) Mom really likes the hairdresser's care 10) Excellent help provided by the nursing team:)

A year ago my mother experienced a fall, needed physical therapy and some supportive supervision. Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living provided the Fox Physical Therapy Program, one of the few in PA with high caliber of quality. This enabled her to have therapy on site, while the dedicated staff was available to oversee her medications, provide assistance yet encourage her independence/autonomy in with her own room. She has become very engaged in activities she loves that are within walking distance: crafts, church, rosary, cards, bingo, movies, and weekly field trips. She truly enjoys 3 meals a day, every day that she truly raves about. The staff from various roles are very dedicated to her needs. Initially she was very skeptical of leaving her home and felt loss of control. Now a year later, she is very self sufficient, and enjoys helping other residents and the staff too. The entire Chestnut Knoll community has been a positive and amazing influence on her health overall!

Our family had an in person tour and it was a little older community, the hallways were a little darker and just not a lot of light coming in. They did have a nice outdoor area though.
Response from Chestnut Knoll
September 29, 2022Thank you for visiting Chestnut Knoll! While we are an older community, (and are constantly renovating and doing our best to stay ‘up to date,’) our focus is always on resident care and satisfaction. Did you get a sense of Chestnut Knoll’s commitment to resident care during your visit? We are exceptionally proud of the longevity of our employees and the awards that we receive as a result of resident and family satisfaction!
The staff was really good. The supervisor of hospice, and the supervisor over the wing that my loved one was in, they were great. Also, the finance department was so nice, patient, and understanding. They offer very good activities, and they went out of there way. This was the best, out of other places that I looked at. Overall, I was very pleased with the facility.

Our mom is both comfortable and content at Chestnut Knoll, and our family feels secure knowing she is safe and well cared for. The staff is warm and friendly, Mom enjoys the games and activities they offer, and even tells us how much she likes the food they serve! She has made friends with other residents and feels right at home there. She often tells us that this was the best decision we could have made for her care and our family agrees.

The people are kind, courteous, and helpful. The food is very good and the coffee is hot! And the milk is cold! Excellent!!
I'm very pleased with the care my loved one receives. There are a lot of activities to keep the residents busy. She likes the food. I like the layout of the facility. They have different sections in memory care with objects for the residents to interact with that might correlate to their past.

I liked Chestnut Knoll. I thought the tour was really good. We just chose a place that was all on one floor.
This community felt dark and dingy and not the place I wanted for my loved one. It just felt like an older community. The tour was great and the community followed up and gave me all of the information that I needed.
Response from Chestnut Knoll
March 23, 2022Thanks so much for visiting Chestnut Knoll. While we are an older community, residents truly enjoy our warm and comfortable environment (compared to newer, larger and more ‘sterile’ buildings). More importantly, we know that experience matters and are proud of our many years of experience caring for seniors.
From the moment I spoke with [name removed] looking for just the right place, to visit after visit with my mom, Chestnut Knoll exceeds my expectations. In one short month, my mom’s quality of life has greatly improved: she’s more active, social, and healthy. [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed] have all been so compassionate and professional. Nothing about my mom who is living g with Alzheimer’s surprises the staff. I leave after each visit filled with hope and gratitude that my mom is a part of the CK community.

We had a really good tour with Chestnut Knoll. The facility was very clean and did not have any smell to it when you walked in. Due to his care increasing, it was just not going to be the right fit.
We are so pleased with the care my uncle is receiving at Chestnut Knoll. The staff members are loving and compassionate. He is treated with respect and dignity. From his first day, we felt welcomed and knew we made the right decision to place him here. All his needs are being met, and we feel we are getting quality care for him.

They are just the most compassionate, sincere, authentic people you would ever meet. They really have your loved one's care in mind when they set up an individual program for them. They didn't always provide updates, but when you would reach out to them, they would make sure that you had the most up-to-date information about your loved one and how they were doing in the program, and any changes that they saw. They definitely reached out to me when my father had a choking incident and they wanted him to do a swallow test. So when they had concerns they would reach out to me and let me know what was going on in his world. They gave periodic updates, and they just seemed to really care about the wellbeing of my father and how well he was doing in their community. I remember one staff member calling me and telling me she was going to purposely arrange for him to sit down with another man in the community because she thought they had a lot in common and would have a lot to talk about. I just loved the involvement that happened there. It was worth every dime.

When my mother could no longer stay in her house, we looked for a facility that would make her feel like she was at home. Chestnut Knoll fit all of our requirements. We were very pleased with the facility and the staff. From dietary, to maintenance, to housekeeping, everyone was very friendly and kind to my mother and our family. I can not say enough about the aids that helped care for her. When I left in the evening I knew she was in good hands.

We are not able to eat with the residents just yet so we aren't sure about the dining services, but the activities do seem to be pretty good. We would recommend the Chestnut Knoll community to others.

A Place for Mom has scored Chestnut Knoll 9.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
