My mother goes there for respite stays when my husband and I need a break. She has stayed a month at a time before. They're always very accommodating, even if I need to make arrangements at the last minute. Mom loves the interaction with the staff and the other residents. They have activities to keep her mind active. I read negative reviews of this facility but that has not been my experience.... Read more

I WAS VISITING A FRIEND AT THIS WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY, ENDED UP TAKING HER OUT FOR SUPPER BECAUSE SHE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FOOD BEING AWFUL, THERE WAS A FEW RESIDENT SITTING IN THE HALL SCREAMING FOR HELP, THE STAFF WAS SO BUSY DUE TO NOT ENOUGH HELP AND WERE TRYING THEIR BEST TO CALM THEM, THE AC IS BROKEN ON 200 HALL AND HAS BEEN FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS NOW, IT WAS 85 DEGRESS IN THE HALL, I DON'T SEE HOW THEY COULD STAND IT, I COULDN'T. THE PLACE HAS REALLY WENT DOWN HILL IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO. MY FRIEND IS NOW LOOKING FOR A NEW PLACE, I'M SURE WE CAN FIND BETTER. PLEASE REALLY LOOK AROUND BEFORE YOU MOVE IN THERE.

We had a loved one here for years. We really liked it. We only moved so that she could be closer to family. They were always clean and the staff always friendly. The food was good, and she was really happy there.

A Place for Mom has scored Catawba Valley Living at Rock Barn 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
