Carnegie Assisted Living

My husband and I are very disappointed in this facility. My mother-in-law has been there over 5 months with little to no improvement. There was an incident where my mother-in-law had to call 911 on her own because her "call button" which she pressed multiple times did not result in anyone responding. They are still saying they are getting a new system. Not done. They have also misplaced her medication, resulting in missed doses of her medications. My other-in-law needed to point this out to them. The answer was to tell her to take it on her own. It was most upsetting that when my mother-in-law was in the hospital for 10 days, there was NO contact with the family or the resident during this time. The cleanliness/housekeeping of her room in inconsistent. Meal time is hectic and not a good experience. At this time, I would NOT recommend this facility as an option.

My brother has lived here for a number of years. I am happy to say that he has been very happy and well cared for during his stay. The staff has been very friendly and attentive and there have been many activities for him to participate in. During the past year his health has deteriorated and he has required much more attention. The staff has worked hard to meet his increasing needs until he became no longer able to live in an assisted living situation. Sadly, he has had to leave Carnegie but I will always be grateful for the support he received that enabled him to live comfortably, happily and safely. Thank you to all of the staff for their efforts on his behalf. We are grateful

Facility. Currently being remodeled on the entire first floor. This includes sitting areas, lounge, dining room, reception area. Rooms are remodeled on all floors (ongoing). Rooms are comfortable with room for bedroom furniture as well as a small sitting area. Windows are very large and have full length shades. There is also a refrigerator, sink and a microwave. Social/Activities. They are offered every day. The recreation aides are friendly and supportive. Many residents complete the afternoon activities and then go to dinner. There are also field trips. Staff. Very friendly and helpful from the top managers all the way down. Nursing staff is very well informed and follows residents' medication and health needs closely. Housekeeping. Rooms are monitored for pickup and trash removal. Rooms including bathrooms are cleaned up twice a week. Laundry service is provided once a week. Hygiene. Residents get assisted in showers twice a week.

My mom has been a resident at Carnegie for almost two years now. Like any other transition, there was an adjustment period. I've seen a huge improvement in mom's overall health and wellbeing since she has been at Carnegie. Mom has made friends with other residents, and I have observed positive changes in her level of engagement and socialization skills. If I have a concern, the appropriate staff has taken care of my concern(s). Timely follow up is sometimes a challenge; it's gotten better. The community has virtual family council meetings in an effort to hear direct feedback, questions and concerns from family members. Carnegie has events on holiday's which include both AL & Memory Care residents, and family members are invited, so they make an effort to be all-inclusive. Overall, the community is friendly and clean. My mom is happy, so I am happy.

The Summer Bash Party was delightful. Starting with the three accordian players inside who provided such nice music. The whole outside area held so many festive events for adults and children. There were pony and horse rides which were a lot of fun. Face painting that was so decorative. A Music MC who played terrific music from his positionon the grass in the middle of the event. There were fun games for children and adults. There was a lot of yummy food available. Some of the selections were candy apples, hot dogs with sauerkraut, hamburgers on a bun, vegetable strips and cheese cubes, watermelon, cinnabons, and other snacks and drinks.

Under new management, there has been steady, positive change and improvements. My mother has been here for over 2 years and is still content and very comfortable in this community. The staff, caregivers and nurses are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. There are activities and opportunities for stimulating social interaction for the residents throughout the week. The food is excellent during special events. When caring for an elderly loved one, no place or situation is perfect, but here, mom has a better quality of life and we are grateful for the daily care and peace of mind it provides to our family.

Home away from home their dining service is also exceptional great menu and food their soups made fresh every day Care givers are great with resident Head of department is great and accurate with getting stuff done .

Carnegie is one of the best assisted livings in the area. The staff is extremely caring, treats everyone with dignity and respect. The residents are well taken care of and it shows on their smiling faces. This is a very welcoming environment where they make you feel like family. I would highly recommend anyone in need of ALF to consider Carnegie.

The sales person [name removed] will say whatever she needs to say imo to get your loved one booked here. She promised a garden view but my father was put in a room facing the front parking lot with the sun glaring in. She said they don’t quarantine there, they test but he was quarantined again even though he just went through Covid quarantine at the EVEN WORSE place we took him out of - both places played a major part in his eventual death - [facility removed] & this one. He must have weighed 90 pounds on the day he died and I regret not called the hospital that last day but there was supposed to be nurses, aides & doctors here so I didn’t call an ambulance-DO NOT go here -do not listen to their lies. They are so greedy imo that they approved my father for assisted living but he couldn’t walk and deteriorated even more rapidly once he arrived here -he needed nursing care. He didn’t get much care at all. We were working on getting home health care but I believe he starved to death & nurse nowhere!

We have been very unhappy with the facility on many counts. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

The staff are very friendly. The activity director is great also. The director takes the time to find out what the resident likes and adapts to a signature touch to make sure that they are targeting all of the residents. They also use a system where you can keep track of your residents activities during the week or month so that the family members can see what there loved one is doing. They are also in the process of transitioning from another company. They are working hard to put in place the value of Spring Hills. The resident concierge also keeps personal int rest in the residents. They also really welcomed my loved one when she came in with open arms.

Since Spring Hills took over its night and day better. The rooms are cleaned, laundry done without asking and the day nurse partners with residents family to organize care and Doctor visits. The management is so responsive and you can reach them when you need them. The food so much better. Concerns are addressed immediately even to a new room assignment. We are a team in my brother's care now. I can't thank them enough. A happier brother makes my life easier.

[Name removed], head of assisted living, was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The Assisted Living Side seems good but it ended up being to far away for our family member.

This started out as a good place for my family member but things went down hill very fast. I was promised a certain charge for service but was billed way out of what they said. The accounting side of Atrium is so mismanaged and the turn over rate is every couple of months. Get everything in writing and be aware they are unscrupulous.

My father was transferred here from another facility and we are extremely happy with the Atrium of Princeton. I would recommend them highly.
