Everyone is so friendly, show genuine care and concern, and are very accessible. They listen and are responsive. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Monroe to help other families looking.

It should be noted that my parents were only there for a temporary stay and returned home in [date removed] . Overall they really liked the staff with the exception of one of the nurses that they didn't care for. The food definitely needs improvement. About half the time they didn't get what they ordered. Most times food was served like warm or cold. Their biggest complaint by far was the food.

Overall - it was great. The management team (name removed and our sales contact Lori, who is no longer there) made this a great experience for us. My only complaint is staffing shortages sometimes made meal times slow and responsiveness slow, but everyone was so friendly, kind and caring. I am happy we picked Brookdale. On friendliness of staff - I gave 3.5 because of some issues my dad had with some pushy staff members but my sense is that was not the norm there and may have been more a personality conflict . Overall our families experience was good and I would recommend. Moving someone you love into an assisted living is not easy, and while no place is perfect, Brookdale was there for me and my family at one of the most difficult times. Barbara and Lori were our Angels on earth helping make the transition as smooth as possible. Also when my dad passed, they were kind, compassionate and helped me through the initial process. I'm so thankful I called a place for mom and found Brookdale.

They try to engage the residents with activities. Also they try really hard to fix any issues that you might have and staff also listens to any concerns you have about your loved one. Overall I’m saturated with Brookdale.

I would definitely recommend Brookdale Monroe. My loved one is a resident in the Memory Care unit. The staff is wonderful and they're doing the best that they can, given very hard circumstances. They've all been very helpful and very caring and I would definitely recommend them to anybody in the future.

Staff is very professional and friendly. In memory care, [name removed] the director of social activities is the greatest human I ever encountered. They go above and beyond to meet needs of residents, especially the challenging ones! I wish memory care had a separate section for the highly functioning residents and a separate section for severe residents, that would probably fix a lot is issues, including the food.

It was an amazing experience. She unfortunately came down with pneumonia last September and declined bed bound and then ended up on hospice and couldn't return. The staff at Brookdale Monroe were very attentive and kept me very informed and were super polite and even would check in with me when she was no longer a resident.

The staff are wonderful and caring, except for the physical therapy people, who don't want to deal with memory care residents, or don't know how to handle them! The food is acceptable and the activities can keep you busy. The quality of care for me is basically acceptable. The doctor comes once a week, two RNs, two LPn, and the rest are CNAs!

Response from Brookdale Monroe
December 28, 2023Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
For the most part, Brookdale offers a pleasant, caring community with many amenities. It's clean, the food is good, the majority of the staff are pleasant and helpful. They have counselors to help residents navigate the multitude of emotions residents often face while adjusting to their new environment. There are doctors available round the clock. The staff is approachable and compassionate. We feel good about Brookdale and the care they afford our parents.

Would recommend but advise to get medical care elsewhere....definitely not use their doctor for any ongoing care or medical action plan. We picked this community because of the homey atmosphere. Mom didn't need bells and whistles instead a community.

Brookdale has been so wonderful as a Community. My Mom is thriving there. She is always so busy with activities and exercise and has made so many friends. Since my Dad passed, my sisters and I were so worried about Mom making the transition from Florida back North to New Jersey. Brookdale welcomed her with opened arms and welcomes Family members to be involved in all activities as this helps supporting our loved ones. Mom loves her new home and it is truly a Community oriented environment.

We picked this community, because it was welcoming, cozy atmosphere, best food choices and most we could afford. It's been a place where Mom can be busy and aspire to live her best life. I do wish the personal care staff were more consistently thorough. The executive director is awesome and really cares about people. She gets things done.

We toured with Brookdale Monroe and it was a nice tour experience. Everyone was very friendly, but the downside was the rooms and other parts of the facility looked very dated and old.
Community is beautiful and well maintained. Staff is warm and friendly, always willing to assist in any way they can. I visited a lot of facilities and would definitely consider if in need of an Assisted Living community.

[Name removed] was so helpful and friendly when my sisters and I did the tour. We have decided to make this Mom's home. We are excited about the full life she will have there as well as being able to spend time with her there.

I don’t know where to begin. I was thoroughly impressed with Brookdale Monroe. The staff are caring and compassionate. Formerly working as an activity director, I was impressed with the recreation calendar for both AL and Memory Care. There are activities for everyone to enjoy. The memory care programs are planned keeping dignity in mind and it was truly impressive to see. The director, [name removed] is incredibly hands on and you can see she puts so much effort into ensuring that the right people are hired who will uphold their mission and commitment to residents. The food was wonderful and they have so many options. The apartments are spacious and probably the cleanest I have ever seen. Everything was impeccable. If I had a family member who needed assistance I would no doubt call Brookdale Monroe.

We wish to express our appreciation for the help and care received by the staff at Brookdale Monroe in our aunt’s transition and first year in a senior living facility. In particular, we are especially grateful to the executive director, [name removed] for accommodating our immediate needs following her discharge from the hospital and always responding to our questions and concerns in a timely fashion. Her weekly Zoom meetings, in the aftermath of the pandemic, kept us current and informed. I believe additional capital investments should be made by the corporation for their Monroe Twp location to improve the dining area and the one and only elevator outside of memory care. Living over 200 miles away, we rested assured that our aunt was well taken care of. We understand the challenges a senior care facility presents to its staff and appreciate their efforts on a daily basis. We recently moved our aunt to a facility closer to our home but Brookdale Monroe will be missed.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Monroe 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
