It’s a great place overall. The people are friendly, the pond will be lovely again when the construction is complete, and there are many activities to choose from. Shuttles for personal business only take place Tue-Thu, there is no evening meal on Sundays and the breakfast hour is only from 8-9am. Also, buyer beware: if you are hoping to move from one apartment to another, the wait is long (and you need to re-remind them) and they charge you a full months rent including the food credit/allowance, which is already quite high.

My Mother moved to Cambridge Village from another retirement community in [date removed]. Cambridge is a beautiful community with so much to offer, she has been more active with activities ,the pool and gym then ever before. The friendliness of the staff from the time you walk in the door and are greeted by the front desk staff to being seated for dinner, you are treated like family! The accommodations and grounds give a resort feeling every time you enter. Having my Mom closer to me is wonderful but seeing her thrive in a beautiful community is heartwarming!

I've lived in several retirement homes as well as innumerable condo complexes and have never before now run into a staff that was so pleasant, courteous, willing to help me in any way and cheerful about it all. There is [name removed] who cleans my apartment every week. She also works for my sister who lives nearby. [name removed] recently told her that “Your brother is doing better at keeping his apartment straight between cleanings.” Then she added, “But he still has a ways to go!” [name removed] is a gem. And there is [name removed] and her colleagues at the front desk whose “Hello, Mr [name removed]” resounds across the lobby when I enter. Or [name removed] who picks up my heavy packages from Amazon like they weigh nothing and delivers them to my apartment. Or [name removed] who greets me at the entrance to the dining room and usually leads me to a table with two or three other residents. It's a nice way to get to know your neighbors. But on those days when I feel like growling at everyone, [name removed] finds a table for me all by myself. Or [name removed] and [name removed], part of the maintenance crew, who would fix anything for me. When my central air/heat went out a few months ago, they were in my apartment within the hour and soon had it working again. I could go on and on. The folks in the Wellness Center or the [name removed], our massage therapist who skillfully works the knots out of my back week after week, etc., etc. When I read this review over, I was a little shocked. I'm a 92 year old crusty and somewhat cynical retired history professor who usually left red marks all over student's papers and rarely gave out an A. I don't write glowing reports. But, rather to my surprise, this staff has won me over. [name removed] Ph.D, Th.D

They are only a retirement community (looks expensive) - they have no Assisted Living or Memory Care.

We looked at a few different communities and even though this one might be a little more expensive after reviewing what they offered there was no question of placing my mother here. She loves living here she finds the residents to be very friendly she has already made friends and she didn't initially think she would. They offer all day dining which was important to her she loves the food. The staff is wonderful very nice and kind extremely easy to work with. We would recommend them.

This community seems to be the best fit for mom. The staff have been friendly, attentive and quick to respond. Family are able to enjoy the activities with their family member. They offer movies, some card games, outings including lunch the first Monday of each month. The food is good. Mom's apartment is nice and we were able to paint it and make it feel like home. The residents are friendly and I get a good feeling at this community. The director was very sweet and listened to us. I would highly recommend this community.

The dining hall is set up like a restaurant. You receive a menu with a lot of choices and prices. The residents are given money at the beginning of the month to pay for this. The food is good, however since it is made to order there is sometimes a long wait. They offer some nice amenities such as a pool, jacuzzi and exercise classes. They have a movie theater where they show current releases. The entire staff are friendly and helpful. The community is a little more expensive, however I think it is worth it and I would recommend this community.

It was a beautiful community. I was impressed by all of the activities that were available, the on-site physician and the fact that they had transportation. The one bedroom unit was a little small but well appointed. The only problem may be the cost.

During our tour I had noticed that the staff at this location did a great job at keeping there facility very clean and well maintained for all of the residents. They had an open floor plan that I liked with lots of natural light throughout the building. I was impressed to see the activity list they had available to all of the residents and the menu they put together meal times.

Nice place. Friendly staff and residents. Good food. I especially like [Removed] who handles the physical activities gym. He is very personable and goes the extra mile to make sure the residents are healthy and happy.

It seemed like a place with that was commercial like and was larger and not as personable to me. Our tour guide, he was very friendly. There was no problems with the place itself. With all the programs they were showing us it was a good place. However the distance and size of community was not the right community for us.

The facility is beautiful but the charges for transportation to see your own doctors is overpriced. There are other fees not associated with regular day to day life that can add up to an extremely high cash balance owed to the facility

The staff has been great here and really good with the residents. All the staff knows the residents by there name and that really helps them feel like they are at home. The community has a beautiful pond that has ducks that the residents can enjoy. My loved one also loves the water aerobics that they offer.

Response from Cambridge Village of Apex
April 12, 2016We are so looking forward to having your parents as residents at Cambridge! They will be a perfect fit - Katie M.
I was very impressed. I really appreciated the friendly nature of the tour without pressure to make any decisions. It looks like a wonderful option for my mom who is independent but would prefer not to live alone. Katie gave us the tour and is like to thank her for making us feel welcome and at ease. She was great!

Katie did an exceptional job showing us around today. I have been to many places for senior or assisted living and this is the first one I left feeling so good about. It was such a good experience that it was easy to talk my folks through this option and maybe for the first time they are going to say yes! I am over the moon happy.

My husband & I viewed quite a few retirement/senior living facilities before moving my mother-in-law to Cambridge. That was over a year ago, and we still feel like we made the BEST choice. There are so many amenities, the atmosphere is great, and the food is wonderful. I hope that she has many more years of happiness at this wonderful facility.

A Place for Mom has scored Cambridge Village of Apex 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
