Brookdale Woodward Estates

I am very pleased with Brookdale Woodward Estates. From the initial meeting with Will Smith until the very sad passing of my mom, everyone was so kind, attentive, and efficient. The staff showed much compassion and took great care of my mom who needed a high level of care. I would recommend Brookdale as a place for mom.

The people are very friendly. The staff is very pleasant but there is lack of communication. We intially picked this community, because the sales person was very informative, and we felt good about it during the tour but afterwards it was a very bad experience. The food is terrible, always cold, and half the time, my loved one does not get what they ordered.

I would tell others they do not do anything that they tell you they are going to do at the beginning.

My mother felt comfortable at Brookdale Woodward Estates after visiting 8 places. Shes got a studio and it's a good size. She LOVES the food, she is actually gaining weight. She always talks about how good the food is on a daily basis and she loves the chef. They select their own menus and have of variety of choices. My favorite part about this community is how they have handled COVID and making sure they are keeping the families informed of what is going on. The facility is also very clean which is important to my mom.

My Dad loves it there. They were able to accommodate him more than other properties where he had been in the past. The staff is great. Whatever he needs they get him and they let us know as well. My dad takes a lot of medication and that was a concern of ours that he was taking it correctly. They do a great job with medication management.They have great communication letting us know what is going on with him. My dad has a car there and we are hoping that he stops driving soon but for now they are good with letting us know where he is going. I did a lot of research prior to moving my dad to Brookdale and found it to offer what he needed at the best cost. Staff is friendly and they all have an attitude of helping.They always greeting us by name when we visit. Prior to moving to Brookdale my dad was not a joiner, since moving in he has participated in a wide range of activities and has found things he likes to do that we never knew before.

I feel Brookdale is a well maintained place. The price is in line with the 6 other places I looked at. They have a lot of activities and nice common areas to do activities and bring in different types of activities. I had a hard time reaching the staff. The Concierge takes all the calls and beyond leaving a message there is no way to reach anyone directly. There is only someone at the front desk till 8 pm. and any calls after that are suppose to go to the duty nurse. I have never gotten to speak with a duty nurse no matter when I called. I did go over to the community once at night to see my mom and I was buzzed in but did not know who buzzed me in which left me with security questions.

Building was not as new. Was a bustle of activity inside. Loved the size of the tooms. Staff was attentive and professional.

The rooms were a decent size and had good medical coverage, but I wasn't sure the staff was as attentive to the residents as I would like to have seen.

Excellent visit-- friendly and very informative. Facility is top notch and staff is so helpful.

Marketing person did not show up and did not tell staff that we had a tour scheduled. Hallways seem small and dark. Nice size rooms; the 1 bedroom includes a small kitchenette.

My mother resided for three years, becoming increasingly debilitated. The staff were always kind and caring with her, and despite being bedridden for the last few months did not develop bedsores, which is a testament to good care. That said, as is true in all healthcare, staff are overworked and unable to respond quickly to calls from residents. The facility itself has been redecorated recently, but doors were not changed. This facility is not wheelchair friendly, residence doors are heavy, and interior doors and doors to the exterior do not have automatic opening. The ONLY door with automatic opening is in the front lobby, and is controlled by staff. Food is OK but menu is limited, service can be very slow. There are activities for the residents every day, which favor the African American religious community. If you like forties swing or classical music you are out of luck

Brookdale living assistance in Bowie Maryland is awful. If you love your loved one please send them to another place. My grandfather went there and it would be 5 to 6 hours before he receive help after pushing the help button even after falling. His toilet remain backed up for almost a week and was about to fill up with urine and feces because they were not come unplug it. I had to personally go over and fix the toilet. After falling my grandparents personally called me and I got there and help them up before any of the nurses came to help him. Please if you want your loved one truly cared for and to have any help if they fall or need assistance do not send them here.

I toured Brookdale Woodward Estates before choosing a place for my mother. The facility was nice, the tour guide was very friendly and helpful. It was a good experience to tour.
