Brookdale west was very clean and had friendly staff. Excellent quality of care food was good although I didn't like that family is not allowed in the dining room. Activities were plentiful and looked interesting. Good value for cost but I think it would be better and more fair to spread out the one time activities fee of [fee removed] over the first year. My reasoning for this is that my father was only able to stay there about 2 weeks. He had 4 falls in that time. Twice he rolled out of bed. I believe this was because the bed was uncomfortable for him and he was too close to the edge. Except for a few rules it is a great place. I wish there could be a level of care for people who are needing a lot of help with ADL's but don't need skilled nursing. Some place that doesn't depend on Medicaid as its primary payer and drives the cost of care up for private pay. Brookdale is worth checking out. The call bells could use updating.

Very friendly loving aides. My mother often leaving for the day hugs and exchanges I love yous! Same for the management, always takes their time with the residents. They create a very beautiful environment for the residents. And give them a lot of support when needed and space for privacy. The rooms are beautiful and they are cleaned regularly. I am very happy. And feel she is in a safe secure environment.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Vestal West, and the tour experience as well as the community was very good, but at the time we needed to move our loved one in, they had no availability,
We did tour Brookdale and the place is lovely, but the more home-like atmosphere and the proximity to my Mom in Owego made another community in the area the ideal choice for us.
What is conveyed at the initial consultation is not anything that happened in our experience. It was extremely surprising that the contract and the follow through was nothing as it was proposed. They overrated my loved ones performance and then 3 days later we went to the hospital and when released they did not let her come back. They gave us a partial refund back to us. It was not a good experience at all.

This was a good place for my loved one to go to. He passed away from Covid and was not there very long but he was taken care of while he was there. I do see this as a good place to take your loved one. This was a good facility and they took really good care of my loved one.

Not being close to the facility I have not been able to visit, but the feedback below is from speaking over the phone to our loved one as well as other family members. The community is very clean, especially during the pandemic, and I have seen pictures of our loved one and she is always clean and in clean clothes. Every time we call, someone is there to answer our questions or get us to someone who can answer those questions. They say our loved one is one of the best eaters there, so we can assume the food is very good. We do get an activity calendar for the month, and it seem's like they have quite a few things to offer. The activities are geared towards whatever holiday is coming up, or special event. For birthday's they even have a little birthday party. The residents can also take walks around the courtyard, and use their bus system to drive around town.

We picked Brookdale Vestal West because it was the cleanest, friendliest, and the staffing was amazing. Even with COVID, they are the best. They keep the residents interested and moving every day of the week. They do morning exercises, they have entertainers come into the yard, water-coloring, gardening, BINGO, yoga, etc. The rooms are very spacious. I have eaten here and it is great, they have a chef downstairs and he cooks fresh foods. They serve snacks during the day and at night. My favorite part about this community is the care she is receiving and knowing she is being looked after. I am very happy I picked Brookdale.

My loved one is doing well since moving into the community. However, the family wants to move her to a medicaid accepted facility. In the future she will have to move once she can not provide private pay. At this point the service has been wonderful.

So far things are going pretty well at this community. Mom seems to like the staff and they know who I am when I call or visit. They helped make her transition into the community easier and they work well with her. The food is excellent and they keep the community well maintained. They have outings as well as daily activities.

We feel Dad { John Lyles} does not fit this facility. He is still very much still active, computer literate and does not need the level of care this facility provides.

I like that care that mom is g3tting here. The many activities that she is doing are wonderful for her. They offer bingo, music and games that she seems to enjoy with others. All of the staff shows one on one attention that they care. The food is outstanding. I am feeling so much better know that she is in a clean and caring community. I highly recommend this community for outstanding care.

My mother is doing better now here at this community, but there was a bit of an adjustment period for her. It has been a good experience for us so far. They do a good job with the cleanliness, everything appears to be well maintained. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've seen the menu's and they have a nice selection of food. I know she being cared for well, she in good hands. This is a community I would recommend, it has worked out well for us.

My loved one has only been here a short time, but so far our experience has been a positive one! The staff here is friendly and professional, and I really appreciate the high degree of communication. They helped us through the whole sign-up and move-in process, and they always contact me immediately if anything comes up with my loved one.

Had a family member there for 6 months until March 2016. Since they merged companies in 2014, the facility has been on a troubling downward spiral. They have had significant staff turnover in the past 12 months and the aides are not trained properly. We never witnessed any management overseeing the staff. There is quite a bit wrong here that needs to be addressed. Specifically, lost items, overcharges, the food, but even worse is what I witnessed on my last visit. During mealtime, 4-5 people were struggling to get a piece of lettuce in their mouths that should have been cut into 4 smaller pieces. I saw 2 aides sitting at a separate table chatting and no one did anything, I felt so bad that I went to help them cut their food myself. They are understaffed, and the ratio is approx 1 aide to at least 20+ residents. When I arrived, I saw my aunt on the couch with wet pants and a big wet stain. I ran around to find someone and I asked someone to help her, she said she was not assigned to her that day. Then when I went to take her back to her room to change her myself, she had no clean clothes in her room (she has 10 pairs of pants), I quickly left (hoping my aunt would stay put) to find a manager and they said there wasn't one available. No one knew anything about her laundry. Then I saw a man sitting on the same couch in the wet spot. Completely awful experience. We moved my aunt out within 48 hours.
