Was a tad disappointed in this facility. It had the reminiscence of an old time nursing home. It appeared clean, but the residents appeared to be on there own while the care staff mingled around. There was a choice between a shared room and a private room, but everyone had to use community showers and only twice a week or you would get charged extra. The prices here were on the high side for the area especially for what the client receives. This is not a place I would put my mother.

This is a pretty nice community, and my tour went well. From what I saw the community looked nice, everything appeared to be well-kept. The staff I met was friendly, and helpful. It was a good one experience, but I did find a better match for my mother, and her needs.

I had a chance to tour this community and I did not like it. It did not fit my sister. The age group of the residents are much older than her.

The staff have been great working with the hospice people to make sure that dad has everything he needs. This community does offer daily activities and they keep it clean. I would recommend this community.

Brookdale would not have been a good fit for my mother. Most of the residents were in wheelchairs and walkers. The rooms were shared and the place was very expensive. They do a wonderful [Removed] where they say they will cover you with medicare one month and not the other and over again. It was not a choice for us.

I feel that the staff here have a lack in communication. Things were not getting done with my father like they were suppose to. We were promised certain things and never got it. Also they were suppose to have activities and they were minimal. I would not recommend this place.

This place was very, very clean when we walked in. The people were also very nice and helpful. The residents were walking around and just hanging out. It was very calm and pleasant. I also saw some of the residents exercising.

I would never recommend this community to anyone not only did they neglect my father but they where very abusive to him as well. My dad complained he was having pains and discomfort for two days and the staff did nothing about it. He ended up being admitted into the hospital with a serious UTI. The staff would roughly hold him down and jerk his wheel chair around to make him take his medication. My loved one was there for only five days before I removed him from, I would not suggest that any families put there loved ones in this community.

I liked seeing this community and visited the place a few times. The staff were nice people but I saw a few residents when visiting. I felt that it was pretty quiet and did not see any activities going on when I went to visit.

So far it is going well for my aunt here. We are very happy with everything. The food that is made and activities that are provided are good for my aunt. She loves it at this community and I would recommend them.

During the search for a memory care facility for my parents, my father passed away. Erica, at Brookdale Utica was very compassionate and sympathetic. We toured the facility a couple of times. Although, I chose not to move my mom from the assistive facility she was at, I would definitely consider Brookdale Utica in the future. I especially like the individual dining rooms for each "wing of rooms". The staff was courteous and the facilities were clean.

My tour of this community was nice. From what I saw they do a good job with keeping the community nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. It just was not the community for mother. It was a pleasant tour, this a nice community with kind people.

OVER PROMISE AND UNDER DELIVER, Room and meals are fine. The workers are very pleasant. There are many errors made in providing or not providing my mothers needed services. We tell the management what changes are required and they either dont care or dont know how to get the required services done. The building itself is in need of extensive maintenance which might be an indication of the companies overall approach to running their business.

The information and admissions process was handled very efficiently. Staff answered all questions and this place felt like "home" away from home, as best as it possibly could for my Mom. The care staff and food services staff are wonderful to work with! Everybody there has been friendly, caring and helpful. I would recommend Brookdale Utica to others.

It seems to be going pretty well so far. I haven't heard any major complaints. So far we are pretty happy with them. It's clean and the staff is friendly, and there hasn't been any major frustrations with billing or anything else, to this point.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. Based on the experience I had during the tour I wouldn't be able to recommend this facility, the person who showed us around really did not give us a good first impression. The first question out of her mouth when we met her was "How much money do your parents have?". It did not give me the feeling that care was their first priority.

Very unhappy with this assisted living. Staffing is incredibly short in every aspect of living-housecleaning, aids, dining staff etc.....

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Utica Memory Care 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
