We toured Brookdale Utica Memory Care when searching for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. The tour was good and comprehensive. However, we were not thrilled about the community shower. There was also a considerable price difference when comparing the cost to other facilities in the area.
I toured this facility and the tour itself was fine. The cleanliness and friendliness were both okay. The feel is just kind of different here, the best way I could describe it is very 'formal.' Which could be good, if that's what you're looking for.

My loved one's care has been very good. The food is okay compared to other places. I would like to see them up their game and offer more activities, even if there are only a few people participating. I know it's hard with Alzheimer's' patients, but more activities would give those who can participate a feeling that they matter. But generally the staff and the care have been good.

We have not had a meal there ourselves but according to our loved one and other residents they are not to thrilled with the meals - they said it just taste kind of blah and sometimes it is served cold. However they do talk a lot about the different activities going on and we can see pictures of our loved one doing different things. The value is expensive - they do a lot but the community fee is quite high compared to other places.

We had a very good tour experience with Brookdale Utica. In the end, it came down to this facility and another one. The facility is beautiful and I got a really good feeling about the place.
From the minute my siblings and I walked in we knew that this was the caring and warm environment my mother needed. She needed a smaller, cozier environment like many need who have the disease. I find the staff to truly care as family would and that was the hardest thing for us, was to find reliable care that truly were different. The staff tenure is amazing and that is something we noted from our tour and loved. It speaks volumes when the executive directors started off as car givers years ago. The original sales lady retired but comes back part-time to work in activities with the residents! Very happy, we made the right decision.

Warm inviting community. Mom has dementia and needed a home-like environment to call home. Constant activities and true passionate care that care like family! The staff is long time employees and many have been here for over 15 years!

The staff is very good. In fact, a lot of them have been there for over 10 years. They're very attentive, and they've even helped me to get back to somewhat of a normal life now that they're taking care of my loved one. They've made suggestions and things for me to get back to a more normal way of doing things. I find the place to be clean. I know they did some remodeling, so it's all updated. They even changed out all the beds and got new mattresses for everybody a few months ago. Overall I'm very, very satisfied.

I could not be more pleased with Brookdale Utica overall and we have had a great experience. I would let others know that on the weekends when nursing staff is not there, they do struggle a bit to deal with out of sort patients so my phone does go off quite a bit on the weekends. Other than that I would highly recommend to others.
My mother started in the Assisted Living facility, but then needed to be moved to the Memory Care facility. The transition was seamless, the staff in both facilities were caring, compassionate and responsive to not only my mother's needs, but also the family's needs too. The staff in the Memory Care facility treated my mother like she was their own. It literally brings tears to my eyes when I think about her experience there. I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a place of comfort and care for your loved one!

From what we have been able to see, it does seem like the community is kept pretty clean. The staff members there are wonderful. Our loved one really seems to be enjoying the meals, and it is expensive but we do think you get what you pay for.

We chose Brookdale Utica Memory Care because I knew the staff members and I really liked them. Her room size here was great for her, she was in a single room. My favorite part about this community was the activities and involvement of the staff members, they are very kind to their residents. If I was in this situation, I would go here. I would absolutely recommend.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
