Bickford of Shelby Township

I really appreciate our part-time nurse there. Geri. she is very involved and helpful. The reason we went there is there is a bigger community of people for her to do things with. We didn't know about the hidden fees, which would be nice to know ahead of time. the staff treats mom great, and everyone loves [name removed] her dog. They help mom take care of her.

I think the food is terrible and I believe they are under staff. Not in the kitchen they need more help on the floor The lady who runs the activities is wonderful. I think the furniture outside needs cleaning it smells like urine . And where the ducks are needs to be cleaned they are making a real mess . The shower curtain are to short and water gets all over the floor the people could slip.

The caregivers took great care of my father and always kept us informed of any concerns they had. They are all very friendly and genuinely cared about my father. My Dad raved about the food. It is a beautiful facility. It is a small facility with only 1 floor. The dining room and activity room was close for my Dad to walk to. It is a quiet facility which we thought suited my father.

It is a small facility which makes you feel like a neighborhood with people living around a central outdoor space. During warmer months you are able to visit outside in a backyard environment. Our family visits mom almost every day and there have been some times when staffing was short and it took longer to find someone to assist us. Staff was very apologetic when this happened.

They are fantastic! We are very happy. The staff has been so supportive and welcoming! Our only regret is we should have moved Mom earlier. Bickford really understands dementia and has an engaging, interactive environment! The team of caregivers is very wonderful!

What stuck out most about Bickford of Shelby Township was the fact that the RNs were supervising the care. I also really liked the home-like atmosphere.

The staff that is hands on with the residents are fantastic; very attentive and caring. The communication from the aides, regarding the residents, is knowledgeable and thoughtful. Communication from the office staff seems to be hit or miss. The housekeeping is good, rooms and gathering places and public washrooms are kept clean. My nose is very good and there aren't any unpleasant smells. The food looked better than other places that we've been to. The move in was very easy. We have and would recommend Bickford of Shelby Township for Assisted Living care.

The reason we picked this community is because my aunt has lived there.My mom really enjoys her time there it is a very pleasant place to live!

For my Dad we liked that the facility was small and only one floor. The room available to him was very close to the dining room and the activity room is 2 doors down. His room overlooks the courtyard. It is a new building and very nicely decorated, very clean. The staff are all very nice and very attentive to my Dad. Housekeeping is a separate fee. Laundry is done twice a week, changing the linens weekly and making his bed every day are also additional charges. The room charge includes rent, food, and utilities. They don't have many activities at all. In that respect I am very disappointed. I would like to see some entertainment brought in that family could also attend. Arts and crafts would be nice. I rarely see other residents unless it's time to eat. My Dad has only been there for a few months. I cannot recommend Bickford yet since the activities for their residents is sorely lacking. I'm not happy that my Dad sits in his room day after day only leaving for meals. He really likes the food and likes the caregivers. My sister and I are going to give it another 3 months to see if things improve. If not, we will take him to tour another facility in the area to see if it might be a better environment for him. Bickford was more expensive than the other facility, but the room location at Bickford was more suitable for my Dad and we thought it was a better fit overall.

The atmosphere is very homey and has a good open floor plan. They have nice outside areas for the residence that are safe and secure. The rooms are smaller but are private with their own bathroom. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

This is a very nice place. The layout of the building is in a square. Makes it nice for residents to get around. The cost is a bit less than other assisted living homes however. the rooms are around 412 sq feet. Give or take a few feet. They don't have a movie theater, a workout room or a room for physical therapy. It's done in your room or at the end of the hallway where there is a small area for them to use.

Overall we had a good experience at Bickford. They were very family oriented facility and they were great about working with us, especially towards the end. I would recommend to others looking.

[name removed] was very nice. Certainly made me feel heard and understood. I loved the personal video chat + the prompt email follow-ups. However I think the facility has a lot of amenities that [name removed] just won't utilize.

Our loved one was at Bickford and it is unbelievable how the corporate offices and management lie about the quality and preparation of food. For $5000-$9000 per month, you get the food pictured with this review. Our loved one was not on any special diet, this food was served to everyone. We have included the link to the corporate site where they show chefs cooking and sauteing fresh vegetables and lying about meals being cooked to order. In reality, there is a kitchen that is set up like a cafeteria with metal bins full of food that is cooked in batches. It sits for hours until it is scooped into styrofoam or plates (not cooked to order). We posted some descriptions that are used on the web site telling you daily what is served but you will see from the pictures what is actually served. There is rarely fresh produce, it is mostly from cans even in the summer. Canned vegetables, fruit, and beans. Beans are a staple in almost everything because they are cheap. There are NO chefs and everything on the corporate site is a lie. The pictures posted are not the worst of what was served, it is representative of what is commonly served. We would also add that the food was the best part of what we experienced at Bickford which speaks volumes.

This community is a beautiful place and the care I received from A specific individual was above and beyond what she needed to do. The room sizes were nice, and the food was good. I would definitely recommend this community

I would highly recommend Bickford of Shelby Township. This community is a nice place. My loved one is in the memory care unit. There are only 16 beds in this unit. If there is anything that happens with my loved the staff call and keep me updated.

My ratings are based on my loved one's feedback. The community was good and I would recommend this community. We had a few window visits during the time that my loved one was there. My loved one enjoyed the food, and he stated that it was too much of it though.

We have been happy with Bickford. My mom has dementia. The staff is very nice. They update me about my mom's needs. My mom is on hospice. We have been please with our experience. They have done a great job with the Covid-19. I have peace of mind with her being at Bickford.

Outstanding facility! Very friendly staff and very estically pleasing along with many favorable amenities! Number one on our list of faciliites that we toured.
