Memory care is secure. Staffing numbers could be better but all of healthcare is suffering from shortages. Staff is caring and professional. Administrative staff works well with agencies to ensure affordable options for those in need. Facility is modern and nice.

Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. After a month, even with daily visits, I noticed my dad's hygiene and room cleanliness were being neglected. His stay there was to include medication management, showers, bed changes, housekeeping, all 3 meals, and help with dressing and such. I would never recommend this place to anyone with loved ones.

They been undergoing new management for the past two months. I'm giving them a try. We picked this community because of the recommendation from my mothers place.

My mom was in Serene Gardens for several months after she left rehab due to a broken hip. During her stay there she had 2 incidents resulting from improper transfers. The first resulted in a broken ankle and after that they refused to get her out of bed. She was essentially bed ridden for 5 months even though doctors gave her clearance to put weight on the leg. I can only speculate that they were concerned about their ability to provide proper care. The other incident resulted in a disclocated knee which required full knee replacement surgery. After 5 months laying in bed she is weak and the staff did not properly transfer her to a wheelchair when we requested to have her get out of bed. Unfortunately the care is subpar and the staff's ability to own up to their mistakes is very unsettling. The staff are friendly but may not be equipped to handle someone that needs extensive assistance. The place is new and looks great.

They were not equipped to care for someone who was partially paralyzed. Nor aware of the need to give him the timely setup for his breathing treatment and then turning off the machine when it was finished. I was so disappointed. !! Quality was horrible. Not enough staff. Call light would not be answered. On his first night, he told me people don't answer the light. We waited 45 minutes. I then found people on the other side of the building. They said that they thought the light was just left on from earlier. So they ignored it. Meals were ok. Activities does not apply. He couldn't participate. Care was totally insufficient.

They have taken very good care of my mother, she is end stage dementia and arrived in very bad shape from the previous facility. Her CNA [name removed]at Serene Gardens should get a medal! A raise for sure, she immediately assessed my mother when she got there and said she would do everything in her power to get my mother's skin infections and sores under control and she looked me straight in the eyes and promised she would and that she would be cared for properly at Serene. So far she has! The rest of the staff that helps care for my mother are also amazing. The food is not the greatest but not the worst either. Reminds me of school cafeteria food. A lot of seniors don't have much of an appetite to begin with, so nutrition needs to be appealing.

Our family had an in person tour and we just did not really care for it, it was very dark and not very welcoming
The staff is all very friendly it is very clean. Whenever we call for assistance you always have to leave a message and usually do not get a returned call until after 3 or 4 calls. Overall it's a great place

We had a great tour experience with Serene Gardens of Sterling Heights. The facility was beautiful, the rooms were clean and very nice. The downfall was how large the facility was. It might be good for someone in assisted living, but for someone with dementia who would get lost easily, I do not think it would be a good fit. The price was decent comparatively.
We picked this community because, they could get my loved one in right away, and they were very accomodationg. Overall, it was a short experience, and my love done was there a short period of time.

Serene Gardens has been an amazing experience so far we have nothing but great things to say about all of the staff members there. On the day our loved one was moving in there was a mix up with the person who arranged the move in date and property manager - they were not ready for our loved one but they worked some things out and took our loved one in. They went above and beyond to make sure they were able to accommodating up They also have worked with us financially and we would recommend this community to other families.

It has not been that long since Serene Gardens has taken over. It's been about 2 months, but I'm not sure of the exact timeframe. They do take real good care of my husband and the meals look good when I've come to visit. Although they could give them a bit more food, if they're serving something that a resident doesn't like or can't eat, they make sure to get them something else. I would recommend it, but the problem I've come across with Serene Gardens is a lack of communication. It's more so with the night staff that I find this problem. My husband is approaching end of life and today in his rom they had oxygen tanks and all of this equipment all over the place, but no one could tell anyone why or who put in there. They also couldn't tell us who administered the oxygen and why. Because it happened at night, they did not have the hospice nurse's okay on that. So sometimes I've come across things like that where everyone is running around trying to figure out what happened. But, honestly, that would be the only thing that they could improve on. There's a new manager there, and we really like him. If we bring something to his attention, it's taken care of. I told my kids that if something happens and I'm no longer able to take care of myself, I wouldn't mind being placed here. And if I'm putting myself here, I'd say that's a pretty good recommendation. The new staff and workers in the memory care unit have been really sweet, kind, and caring. I really like them and I will miss them when my husband passes, because we've spent a lot of time together.

The communication with the staff is good. We are happy with our experience with the community. My loved one enjoys the food and activities the community provides.

This was a bigger community and it felt like a resort. This wouldn't have been a good fit for my loved one. Memory Care was a tucked away unit inside the community.
I did not like this community at all. They had some changes in ownership and things changed for the worse. The tour guide was very good in the beginning but once in things changed.
Don't go here if you want good care for your loved one or if you want them to eat anything decent or healthy. The relationship between management and the staff was very poor. The manager just couldn't get along with his staff, so the staff wouldn't come in to work. Basically it was like a strike. The food was terrible. It was all from a food service, with nothing homemade, and no fruits or vegetables. They would run out of food sometimes. It was just a terrible value and experience. The one positive is the activities director seemed like a wonderful person. Activities were just starting to pick back up after Covid restrictions. And she seemed like she was trying to keep it together for the whole building.

IT's been great, except for staff coming and going. A nurse quit, several of the aides quit, the one who does the intake quit. It's been frustrating not having continuity of care. The other day one of the aides yelled at me, and that's happened a couple of times. The managers and receptionists are really, really nice though. The aides are good sometimes, other times they are not. Overall, the people have been very, very friendly, they've been good to me and my loved one. The food's not the best in the world, but my loved one likes it well enough. There's only one activity right now - bingo. And sometimes they do crafts, but not very often because you can't gather together right now.
