Meals/dining has been 5, but our chef just took anew job so who knows. Activities have been great. Again our director just left and we don't know what the new person has in store. The property was well maintained outside and gave a good impression. The interior was clean but the furniture was old and well worn. The residents were promised an interior remodel within a few months with new furniture and carpeting. The remodel never happened and I was told that promise had been made for a couple of years. The grounds have not been maintained at all since last fall. They let the lawns go without water until July and then hired a company to mow only. They finally fixed the irrigation and started to water the lawns in late July. It's embarrassing to have friends come here. Everything is shabby.... Read more

This is a wonderful place for seniors. They are so friendly and accommodate you. They try to get an answer immediately, if they can't they follow up with you. As soon as you walk in you feel like a warm hug wrapping around you. The residents and staff are friendly. I would recommend the community to anyone for their loved ones. Some of the activities are shuffleboard, pool table, bingo, games, poker, arts and crafts, field trips on the bus, and more for the residents to choose from. They partner with other communities for different competition for bean bag toss. They have holiday celebrations. They are open to suggestions from the residents for activities. They have so much going on that you have the ability to be busy from the beginning of the day to the end of the day. If you don't want to leave your room, they will bring you meals to your room for a charge. I have never been to a place like this. It is wonderful. They have pets here. The food is good. They had an Easter luncheon, and they have a Mother's Day Brunch planned. They have a menu set and give the residents a chance to order off of each Saturday. There is also a menu at the place settings in the dining room. There is a special each day for the residents for each meal. Dinner starts at 4. You also have the ability to take other items to your room for later. There are items that are available from 8:30-5, and the community will make you something to eat. The room, housekeeping, linen changings and laundry of these items, activities, transportation, and utilities are included in the monthly rate.

Brookdale Sparks was a nice facility, but the location was just too far from our family, dad wanted to stay close to where he previously lived.
The community is old, and they should update the community's décor. There is not a lot of variety of food; however, they may not have the option for the residents. This might be because of the pandemic. There is staff that don't know how to care for the residents. They community needs more compassionate staff to care for the residents as well. There are no a lot of activities offered to the residents. It would be nice to have daily or weekly activities available.

February 11, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Your input is very important to us and we will share your feedback to help better serve our residents in the future.
I am enjoying my time here. Every employee has been very nice and kind.
Very easy to be here! Staff incredibly helpful and kind. Makes life much easier. Happy to be here. Thanks for the opportunity to review.!
I've been here for 8 days and thoroughly enjoy ' coming home' after a day of errands. The staff is extraordinary. They are kind., supportive and always willing to help. I'm so very glad my daughter found my new home!!!
Ephicient helpful I'm happy here.
Some of the things I was told about is here. But sure they will come I really do like it here.
I hate saying this, but Brookdale Sparks just felt very depressing. It was dark, and everything was outdated. I just didn't get a good vibe. I didn't feel like it was someplace I’d want my loved one to be.
Response from Brookdale Sparks
November 5, 2021We deeply regret that we were unable to meet all of your expectations. We want to thank you for your feedback and please know it will be reviewed and used to better serve our residents and their families in the future.
This location was very nice. The only reason we did not move here is because they did not have a two bathroom unit for me. The other place we went with was also in a better location than this one.
The tour at Brookdale was great and the facility was very nice. We were not particularly happy with our short experience though.
Fabulous community. Awesome staff. Offered the most attractive pricing... then offered another ! Best deal ever ! Unfortunately, this is my dad's first time to even contemplate this new life. He got gun shy all of a sudden. Looks like he will pass on their offer. When he is ready, I'm sure he'll want to come back to Brookdale ! He'll even wait for another vacancy if he has to !

They will not contact anyone in the family except one person even after verifying they would at our Nana’s request. So she went into the office and made the request. It was a struggle to find out what we needed to get done in order to have a second person contacted. [Name removed], your director is the one that finally told us that all she needed to do was verbally requested. She did. The person that’s currently making legal decisions for her does not talk to anyone else in the family. But because Nana still making decisions for herself overall she had a right to add a second person. You said you would contact him in case of an emergency as well as the other person listed. She’s been in the hospital two times and nobody’s been contacted. We found out when we went to pick her up for Thanksgiving dinner. My Nana’s request in person and verbally said they would. NOPE. 2 visits to the hospital with no communication. Also, I’ve called five times, each time I was told that get a callback. Nobody has bothered to do so. This is why am posting this. We take it pretty seriously. Wish we had known.

I really liked the area of town where it is located. I also liked that it is a small community there not so big like an apartment complex. It was clean and the staff were all very nice and helpful. The only thing that is going to change my mind is the price tag. I wanted to get their 1 bedroom deluxe as it was the biggest 1 bedroom they have but they want $3400 and I can't afford that amount. Even after paying off all my bills that I currently have and selling my car I would not have any cash left aside. So, I am going to decline Brookdale. Other than that it looks like a very safe and pleasant place to be. Thank you

I did not really tour any other communities before deciding on where to live. However, once I first visited this community I knew right away that I wanted to be here. I immediately liked the room that I am currently in. It is a two bedroom with a kitchen and refrigerator. I don’t have a stove or anything like that, but I do have a microwave. All the people there have been wonderful. The staff is friendly and they know what they are doing. They keep the facility very clean. Once a week they have housekeeping come in the rooms and they change out the sheets on the bed and the towels. Myself and the ladies that I sit with at lunch do our own laundry. My granddaughter’s boyfriend came by recently to assist me with my laundry since I have it done it in a while; the basket was a bit heavy. The food that they offer is very good. It changes daily and they are very accommodating with their portions. They come in and ask how big or how small you would like your meal and how you would like to eat it. I feel like I’m getting a balanced diet. They also have fun activities like brain teasers, Mexican dominoes, and they send us weekly calendar updates of what is happening that week. Overall, I’d recommend this place to others.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Sparks 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
