Brookdale Sarasota Midtown

My mom is in good hands with the Brookdale team. They go out of their way to make sure she is engaged and settling in nicely. We couldn’t be happier that we made the right decision with the Crossings program!

Our first impression of Brookdale Sarasota Midtown was not good. There was an issue with the automatic doors, and when a resident using a walker tried to get in, he couldn’t. The door issue was not the problem, but there was no one from the facility to help him. We met with [name removed] for an assisted living facility who was wonderful. She gave us a tour and actually had a room with dad’s requirements (two bathrooms). [name removed] held the room until my parents could look, then signed them up. The facility itself is older but well maintained. The rooms were spacious, the food was good, and there were a plethora of activities for residents. Unfortunately, my dad passed away before they could move into Brookdale.

They just raised her rent [amount removed] a month which is absolutely absurd. We do not recommend this place. We were also provided erroneous information when we made the decision to move her in there and once we moved her in we found out they lied to us about a charge to take her to the dining room. That charge has since increased. We were never advised of that. We would have continued our search for another facility had we known that, and this was learned when she got her first month's bill. The executive director is completely unqualified and when there are issues it takes weeks of pestering her to get something done. They recently replaced the hot water heaters and all residents were without hot water for 4 days even though it only took them one day for the replacement work. They had to call the company back out to find out what the problem was and residents ate from paper plates with plastic utensils for 3 days. This is not the first time prolonged water issues have occurred.

Brookdale Sarasota Midtown has done a remarkable job taking care of my mom. They call their program Crossings and really have a top notch team. I appreciate the good communication and care. It’s not the same as having her home but it is definitely the next best thing!

I toured Brookdale Midtown yesterday with my husband for my mom. The sales advisor [name removed] was so knowledgeable. We went on to tour 3 more communities as we had to make a quick decision. She let us know about a benefit we had no idea she qualified for which now allows us to go with the larger unit. The community was very pretty and homey and a lot of the staff introduced themselves to us. We are confident we are making the right choice and feel good about our decision.

I was very impressed with Brookdale Midtown. The Christmas decorations were fabulous. Everything was decorated beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The residence seemed well taken care of. The residence all seemed happy and eager to share. They seem to be busy with activities. I thought that Brookdale Midtown was very clean and updated. Everything seems modern not dated I enjoyed touring the dining area the food looked really impressive and everything was presented beautifully

I am very happy living here. The food is always very good, and it is also very clean. That is very important to me. I also have made friends, and enjoy the activities the offer. I can pick which ones I want. I wish I had moved here sooner than I did.

My mother is absolutely loving living here. The staff is so kind and friendly and always going out of their way to help! The amenities are awesome and can’t say enough good things about this place! Highly recommend!

My father is getting much stronger everyday. He loves interacting with everybody and the staff is wonderful. He really enjoys the food they serve as well! Everybody is super friendly and I would highly recommend this place for anybody looking!

The care staff at Brookdale midtown are all friendly and helpful. They genuinely care about their residents. My mother is taken care of very well. They go above and beyond with activities and holiday parties. They even include and invite the family members. They have happy hour every Wednesday with live music and family is always welcome. They also have a family night every month.

I am currently a resident at Brookdale Sarasota Midtown and things have been great for me overall at this facility so far. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff is great. We've had some problems, but overall they are great. The food is good and the housekeeping is great. I don't have anything negative to say, except that they don't have a maintenance person to do small projects such as assist with things like hanging pictures. Overall, yes I would recommend Brookdale Sarasota Midtown to others!

They are short-staffed so my mother sometimes incurs a weight to either go to the dining room or return to her room afterward. We also were not informed of a [fee removed] per month charge for someone to take her down to the dining room and back for her meals. Well I was there today, and aid came in to ask about emptying waste baskets and after being told there were three and where they were located she emptied only one. I had to go find her and remind her she was told there were three and still needed to empty two of them. Personal laundry was to be taken care of yesterday, Tuesday, and they have still not picked it up. The majority of the meals are to my mother's liking and satisfaction. I do not feel that there is value for the cost that my mother is paying. Transportation to/from dining room and laundry are the current issues. My mother does really like her apartment and for that we are grateful. Her state of mind is very much improved. That was something that needed our immediate attention.

I'm grateful to have my loved one at Brookdale Sarasota Midtown. They provide excellent care and service.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. Overall the help and care the staff have provided our loved one is good. The staff communication with the family has been good as well. There are three meals a day served and there are choices for the residents. There is also snacks available 24 hours a day. There are fridges in all the rooms. They also provide housekeeping once a week and medication management along with other care services. Maintenance is available as well, and the cable provider is infinity.

We love it and are very happy with our choice. I love the girls who care for my mom. Everybody is very nice. They show concern for me, and they show concern for my mom. They really know who she is and pay attention to her, which is major. I did not want her getting lost in the crowd, and that certainly has not happened at Brookdale. They always have activities going on and are always trying to include her. And the cost is about average compared to other places in the area.

I think that they do a really good job at trying to plan activities both in the facility and to get the residents out to restaurants and other places. My loved one is in assisted living but they also engage the memory care residents as well. They do a great job providing a variety of those outings and activities. They could add more fresh fruits and vegetables on the menu and maybe have a little lighter diet - but I think they are trying to improve it. Overall I would definitely recommend Brookdale Sarasota Midtown to other families.
