About the facility Brookdale Murrysville

Embrace a sense of belonging while enjoying a life with less burdens, at Brookdale Murrysville. Here, residents have access to person-centered memory care programming, housekeeping, homemade meals, and many assistive on-site amenities.

Brookdale’s care team is committed to building trust and providing residents with a personalized experience. Staff members use two key memory care programs to support residents' cognitive needs. The Clare Bridge program, which was created more than 30 years ago, is an exclusive brand of dementia care that encourages residents to use their skills and abilities through six structured, daily activities. Meanwhile, the Solace program offers additional support to residents in the late stages of dementia. This program provides grooming assistance, and sensory activities involving music and aromatherapy. Best of all, residents’ safety is monitored around the clock. Trained team members are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. Absolutely Horrible!

There are no words to describe how horrible the experience was! Understaffed and what staff was there constantly complained! No one knew what was going on and you would get a different response on how my mother was doing based on who you talked to. All they do is wheel everyone to the TV room counting on the TV to keep patience occupied. You had to search for a nurse every time you needed something. You’d think you could at least find a nurse where they heard all the patients, but that wasn’t the case! My mother’s belongings kept coming up missing, especially here blankets. It was so disorganized to the point it was disgusting! They actually sent my mother to the hospital on one occasion and I was never notified by the nurses. It wasn’t till 4 hours later that I found out, only because I got a call from Forbes hospital! My mother sat there unattended for hours. That was only going into the second week of being there. It was absolutely inhumane there!

Good Home Away from Home

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Murrysville and overall her experience at this facility has been pretty good so far. The cleanliness and friendliness have been great. The staff are all very friendly. The housekeeping has been pretty good. The activities are great and the value for cost is good. We brought a few things in about a month ago to be put up in my loved one's room, but that hasn't been done yet. Overall, Brookdale Murrysville seems like a good facility and I would recommend it to others.

Our experience with Brookdale Murrysville has been great. They are fully staffed with quality people who care. I have no experience with the food or activities provided. But the room sizes for memory care are good. I would absolutely recommend Brookdale Murrysville to others looking for memory care.

I have my mother at Brookdale Export. The people taking care of her are so so caring. Most people don't want to have a love one in a nursing home but the nurses here make it as good as it gets.[name removed] ,Marketing Manager, is a God Sent for [name removed], Brookdale and to me ! We wouldn't be here if it was for the heart of [name removed]! This place is clean , food is good and medical attention is gr8. Highly recommend Brookdale because it's all about special Caregivers like [name removed] whom I trust daily with my Mom.

Don't Go to a Nursing Home, Get In Home Care if You Can Afford It

The times we go visit my loved one they aren't changed enough by the staff. We are unsure if the community is assisting my loved one with eating. The community is nice and the staff are friendly. However, the care needs to be improved.

I would recommend

We chose Brookdale because of the proximity and I liked the way they priced their services. I also got confidence when talking with the staff members. This facility is strictly memory care and not an organization that handles a multitude of residents, and with my wife needing care for dementia I knew they would be tuned into her specific needs. They have been excellent with communication and I am very pleased with the quality of care that my wife is receiving here. I would recommend to others looking.

I would recommend this community to anyone

It was a wonderful community, and the staff members were just fantastic. It was a nice small place, with very caring individuals. They communicated effectively with us which was very important especially during this pandemic. They took extra precautions, and moving our father there was the best decision we ever made.

Average

The staff tried to get her more involved. They did have some nice activities such as music. My mom was a place right before this one and it was very, v ery good. The nurse practitioner is very good. The staff are not well trained on dealing with dementia patients. The one major criticism I had had was the loud music during dinner and cutting pills right outside the dining room. The patients with advanced dementia sat by a window in a wheelchair and hardly moved all day long.

Dementia care

Overall a very good facility. No place is perfect but many of their employees especially [Name removed] RN , Carla go the extra mile. The aides [Name removed], [Name removed], [Name removed] were a few that made my Mom happy there. Staffing seems to be a problem on off hours. Dementia care is very challenging.

My mother-in-law is doing well here, the staff has been great with her, she likes them and they are very attentive, help her with her meds and they are encouraging her to be apart of the activities. She has a nice room and she is in a secure, safe environment. The staff is trained in memory care so we know she is getting the best care.

March 18, 2017

I was excited to visit Brookdale in Murrysville because it is very close to my home and it would make it very convenient, for my husband and I to spend time with my mother. However after my visit my thoughts have changed. When we parked in front of the building I notice a lot of maintenance that needs to be done like painting the soffit and fascia and replacing the fence and inside multiple windows had broken seals which made them foggy in appearance. The inside was in total disarray because the interior walls were being painted and we understood that but it was dark, quiet and no music was playing which made it rather depressing. The contact person was very nice for she apologized for the interior of the building and she was very informative and provided us with a lot of good information and she also showed concern for the residents. Overall the building is nice and it has a lot of potential but it needs a lot of maintenance to bring it up to par with comparable facilities in the immediate area.

Felt like home

The administration and staff at Brookdale really came through for us. They provided respite care during a predator situation and were diligent in communicating with the family what was going on. We felt that our loved one was well cared for, well fed, had opportunities for entertainment and exercise and plenty of stimulation. The fact that there are pets allowed was a welcome addition to the "feeling at home" atmosphere of the facility.
