I needed a place for respite care when I was going out of town and that is a place that our hospice company found that had a empty bed .

We chose Juniper Village at Monroeville because of feedback from from people we knew who had family members in this facility. Some of the younger staff can be impatient with residents. I would recommend this facility.

My Mother passed away about 3-4 weeks after entering Juniper Village. Our experience with them was good and especially with Hospice when they were called in after it was apparent mother wouldn't recover.
A couple of years ago my mom had to move my Oma (grandma) from Florida up to Monroeville. She was diagnosed with dementia and my mom wanted to find a facility that catered to her needs. One day my mother visited my Oma and observed bruises and swelling on her that she told her she sustained from a fall. When my mother questioned staff regarding this, she was told that they had no record of her falling. So they are charging you thousands.of dollars a month for a secure floor that specializes in dementia but they don’t even realize that a resident has fallen and sustained injuries. When my mother started voicing her concerns about my Oma, [name removed], the administrator, was extremely defensive. Then all of a sudden [name removed] starts to say that my Oma has a specific type of dementia (mind you- not documented by her doctor, just per non-doctor [name removed]) that they are not equipped to deal with and that my Oma is a harm to herself and others and that my mom has 30 days to find her a new place to live.

Overall the experience with the community is good. There is a need to improve on the area of communication. I would recommend this facility to others however I have found that other places are not as expensive and offer more services.

My mom was previously a resident at Juniper Village at Monroeville. It was a very lovely facility. When I would call, the staff was very helpful. The food was delicious. The Activity director was outstanding, there was always something going on. Mom was always involved with the day's activities. She loved it! Plus they would take residents on lunch outings and she always went with the group. The price did increase, I thought it was high.

For the overall experience, nothing would have made the time good considering the circumstances. Our loved one was there for about 3 weeks and then we had our loved ones removed and put into a hospice care home. None of the was the fault of Juniper, it was just a bad situation. Again it is not Juniper's fault, It was just a terrible time and I was appreciative that Juniper had a place for him and tried to make it work

The staff is very kind and friendly. Juniper administration expects that from staff and is onsite to ensure that they are. The administrator is very available to families. Juniper is very clean and move in is easy as the staff there help. My loved one there is not too keen on the food, but that is her opinion. I think they can be more transparent about costs and how those fees are determined, especially level of care. I recommend the place since it is one of the better in our area.

Staff are friendly and have been working at Juniper Village for many years. The facility is clean and smells clean. Communication with the family is very good. Tell family that if their loved one orders meals to their room, there is a charge. The food is very tasty. We would recommend this facility to others.

The facility is clean, but I don't think they are adequately staffed. Small needs (like making sure a phone is within reach should help be needed) are just not a priority. Mum has fallen numerous times since she arrived and has had to go to the hospital twice. The staff blames her for not following instructions, but she has Parkinson's dementia and does the best she can. Her bedding disappeared and she was left to sleep without blankets one night. Those are indications to me that they need more hands on deck. The director, [name removed], who is the "go to person" for resolving issues, has never once returned a call from me. Dad found a cup of pills (8 different meds) on Mum's bedside table. No one knew how they got there or who they belonged to. If she had found and taken them, I can't imagine what might have happened. Even then, [name removed] did not have the courtesy to speak with my father or return my call. Last week, my dad was sitting outside with Mum and witnessed a resident escape. There is a busy highway at the front of the building. The staff ran to catch the woman, which of course they had to do, but then no one was available to help take my Mum to the bathroom. So I would say that if you are reasonably self-sufficient the facility is ok. If you are unable to fend for yourself, I would not recommend it. We are considering other options as we are not sure she is safe there.

The tour experience we had at Juniper Village Monroeville was a 5! My mom was going to go there. They wanted her to go to rehab and get stronger first. Mom had declined during her hospital stay. She wasn't able to walk. [facility name removed] was a better fit. They took in all levels of dementia patients.
I toured Juniper Village at Monroeville and the facility looked very institutional, especially from the outside. I also had a weird experience with the Sales Manager. She called to tell me that a room opened up and basically wanted me to come in that day to sign papers and put down a payment. I explained that I couldn't come that day, but could come in the next day. In less than 24 hours, she filled the spot with someone else and wouldn't return my calls or emails.
Read MoreThis is a wonderful community. The staff are very friendly and they are very helpful. The community is always clean when I visit. The staff communication with the family is wonderful! The meals are wonderful and there are three meals a day served. If the resident doesn't like what is being served the resident can request a deli or grilled cheese sandwich. Exercise class, religious services, history lectures, music, field trips and more are some of the activities offered to the residents.

This facility had been very good so far, overall. My experience with the staff has been good. The food is good, I've had some of the meals and really liked them. They offer a good variety of activities. The Activities Director is really great about encouraging the residents to participate. I do wish we'd be more informed about changes in medication, I'd appreciate more communication in that respect. But overall, my loved one seems to get plenty of attention and care. I would definitely recommend this facility to friends and family.

My loved one has spent time in many different communities. Juniper @ Monroeville is hands down, the best. It is clean, free of odor. The dining is restaurant style, and the food is tasty. The wellness team is consistent and compassionate. Management is knowledgeable and prompt to respond. Placing your loved one is difficult as it is, but I would highly recommend Juniper of Monroeville.
