I was very satisfied from the time my father entered until he passed. I could not have asked for better than them. When I was not there I knew my dad was taken care of. The staff was very friendly and kept me informed with everything going on with him. I would always see the residents involved in activities and my dad's room was always picked up as well as a clean facility. I was very satisfied with the care of the facility.... Read more

The overall experience has been pleasant. The community always looked clean but occasional smelled of bowel. The staff were friendly and loved mom, making her feel as comfortable as they could. Most med Tech's very nice and helpful. Mom loved the food. Mom never participated, but they always had something going on. Too expensive for level of care and quality of care. After mom was admitted we found out there was an extra charge for any additional help needed such as dressing and bathing help with everyday living which is what the [fee removed] per month should have covered. I can tell you more if you would like to have a call.

The community is very home like, beautiful location back in cul-de-sac but near the hospital, friendly staff, the garden is amazing and wonderful to see the patients helping keep it beautiful. The rooms are spacious, always smells clean and patients seem happy!

Overall, we are pleased with the residence and service. We feel that our resident is safe and taken care of. If we find something not working, it is corrected quickly. Most of the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. There are a few employees that are not friendly and get annoyed when asked to help. One day I arrived and could hear someone calling "help" and found that it was my family member and they had been put in a chair in their room and no one had come back to help them. This was concerning. The main areas are always clean and look very inviting. The individual rooms need to be cleaned better and more care needed when washing and folding resident's clothes. Clothes are very wrinkled and not hung or stored properly. The man that was at the front desk all the time is very much missed, he seemed to look after and genuinely care for the residents and visitors. I miss someone being there to help or answer questions. No one being there is a benefit that is lost.

My mom is well taken care of at this facility. The staff is very loving and caring to her and her needs. My only complaint is the meals. I feel the lots of times they lack in quality and quantity.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Monroe Square and it was a nice tour experience. The staff members we met with were all really nice and accommodating on our visit.
It's more like a nursing home than assisted living. Most of the residents are not capable of caring for themselves at all. My Mom was unhappy with having to here because of this fact. She had to walk past their wheel chairs that were pushed into the halls by the staff to care for them. The halls always smelled of urine. I would not recommend to anyone that is looking for a community of peers who want to garden, go on outings, etc.

Our family had an in person tour and Brookdale was just a beautiful facility to tour, they were so accommodating. The staff were very happy and very willing to answer all of our questions we tossed at them. The residents were clean, happy and interacting with one another and the staff
We chose Brookdale Monroe Square because they were able to provide memory care which we knew our loved one would eventually need that type of care. I think they could improve on the quality of their food and also they could offer more of a variety. Portion sizes are small and could be increased as well. I have been satisfied with the care and attention to medical needs. Overall I am pleased, they are just short staffed and the food needs improvement.

My Grandmother was a three year resident here, and in that three years all of the employees embraced her and provided her lots of love, attention and excellent care. The facility was always immaculate and great care was provided for all of the residents that we got to know. From the Dining Room staff to the Resident Assistants, our families experience with this wonderful staff was indeed most excellent. I am very quick to recommend and try to sell Monroe Square whenever I hear anyone mention the need for assisted living. Just a note: When your beloved Granny loves the facility and staff then you can rest assured that the facility is top notch,

The Community is a great place warm and welcoming! the staff cared for my grandmother for almost 4 years before she passed away. the staff is compassionate for all the residents that live at the community. I would recommend this community for anyone looking for assisted living for a loved one.

My loved one was only there a couple of days, at no fault of Brookdale's. The process of getting him moved in was pretty easy, and I was provided with plenty of information about the cost and services that would be provided to him. They made the move-out process quick and easy as well, yet they didn't rush me either. And they helped provided me with carts to move, which I appreciated.
We chose Brookdale Monroe Square because of the proximity to where I work, the room itself, at the time it was my dad and mom and they were able to get them a suite, and the price was a little better than some others we looked into. My dad is now in a 2 person room and he is the only one there so he has plenty of space. He was also in a very small room so they have rooms of all sizes to choose from. Dad is complaining about the food, he said there is not a lot of variety for breakfast. They have been really good on the virus, they have been strict about visitors and have followed protocols very well to keep residents safe. I would recommend them to others looking.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Monroe Square 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
